2 Chapter 1: My Family is Really the Best

"Zen, Ann! Come down"

""In a minute mom!"" Both brother and sister shouted in unison.

Elizabeth sighed and resumed working in the kitchen. Her silver hairs were tied in an orderly fashion and her well maintained body was jumping from one corner to the other to finish the work.

Suddenly loud footsteps echoed and a pair of similar looking faces appeared in the living room. A boy and a girl looking around the age of 14-15 were giving Elizabeth an angry stare.

"Mom why did you call us?" The boy said seemingly looking irritated.

"Yes, yes!" The girl nodded furiously.

"The dinner is ready. Your father will be home any minute now. Just go and freshen up."

"But..."

"No buts. One more word and no dinner for you two." Elizabeth said in a stern tone.

""Yes mommmm!"" Apparently, the threat for dinner was real since the kids knew that their mom will definitely follow on her threat if they said another word.

"Liz! I am home." Suddenly the main door opened and a rough voice was heard.

"Welcome back Mark. Dinner is ready"

After a while whole family gathered in the living room laughing around while the TV was on.

|Latest reports say that the recent blast in the Denver area was because of a short circuit. The previous witnesses have been arrested for false accusations and it was revealed that Walker and Norman families were not involved in the incident|

"Here we go again. Sigh, these shameless nobles don't even flinch before throwing the commoners under the bus." Anna complained sounding angry.

"Heh! If even one of them knew how to spell the word shame, then they will not be called nobles."

After the interstellar world was open to Earth, it was revealed that there are uncountable races around the universe. The Galactic Alliance was the ruling group of the universe. Initially, Earthlings travelling around the universe were treated as clowns and were killed and used for as research materials because of their powerlessness.

It was in year 3000 AD, that Dr, Hatayama Yui, a geneticists from Japan came up with a groundbreaking research of introducing foreign genes into humans. This shocked the whole universe. This research, although was able to change the fate of Earth, was only accessible to the people on the top of the social ladder. This was because gene liquidus, the fluid that had to be injected, is extremely rare and even a low grade liquidus could cost up to a few millions of Stellars.

These mutations started a new era of bloodlines and a decline of democratic government. Today almost all the countries were absolute monarchy. The United States was no different with the royal Banks family ruling the US and the societal structure was such that there were 9 prominent noble families and 90 noble families. These 100 families pretty much control the whole US.

"Leave it. Even listening the names them makes me want to throw up. How's the school kids?"

"Same old, same old." Anna said with a strained smile.

"Are those fuckers still trying to suppress you?"

"Calm down mom. This was bound to happen. Since we took the first place in our disciplines, something which hasn't happened in the last 100 years, those lil blockheads will do everything to suppress me and brother."

"Don't worry mom. This is all those nobles can do. But even they can't stop me and Anna from flipping their world upside down."

Sigh. Mark and Elizabeth visibly sighed. Their children were just too outstanding. Zen was a genius in science and mathematics while Anna in leadership and economics. Every 10th grade student has to give a 4 stage test under the Earth Federation in their preferred discipline. Zen took first place in science in the US while Anna was first in economics. Apparently, noble students couldn't stand a commoner taking first place so when the results cam out last year, Zen and Anna were condemned for cheating and since then their school blatantly tried to suppress them.

"Just 1 more year. Whatever happens, we both will be selected for Federal Institute of Higher Studies and then no one will be able to do anything to us." Anna added with determination.

After a few more rounds of bitching about nobles, Anna and Zen went to their respective rooms.

"Hmm, if I change this equation, this might...." Zen mumbled while attaching some parts.

"Sigh, this is also a failure. No, I cannot stop like this, this is the only way I can survive and take revenge for my mother. Yoshhh let's start again...."

Since they couldn't afford liquidus, Zen was hell bent on using technology to protect his family. He was working towards his dream for the last 3 years. All of this was to get into Federal Institute of Higher Education, an institute under United Human Federation where nobles cannot interfere openly. A place where merit decides everything, where law of jungle was at peak.

And all that was between the institute and Zen was a test, which will change his whole life.
