The two continued to spend time together day after day. Year after year. He was completely in love with her now. His whole being revolved around Sera, the same with her, her world revolved around him. However, as the years took a toll on Sera and her family, he appeared the same as always. One day, he resolved himself, he asked Sera, "Sera, will you do me the honor of making me the happiest man alive by becoming my wife?"
Sera had been waiting for this day, it was an easy answer for her, "Yes, dear. I thought you would never ask."
Now she was the happiest she had ever been, she was finally going to become his wife. However, what bothered her the most was he still had not told her his name. There was no way he couldn't have one, right?
She finally asked him and pleaded for an answer, "I know you're not a normal person, but you can at least tell me your name now, right dear?"
He gazed into her eyes, sadness could be seen, as well as pain. Still, he replied softly, "Dear, I told you, I don't have a family, so I don't know what they named me. Also, I have never had the time to name myself, so I really just don't have one. Though, I have been thinking recently. If I decide on a name for myself honey, I will use your last name. That way you will always stay with me."
She was delighted, she just hoped he would find a name he liked, so they could finally continue with their wedding. It is hard to get officially married to someone with no name.
After some more years passed, once again. Sera appeared older and older. While he stayed the same. His brain was happy but he knew it was only a matter of time before Sera passed away and he would be alone again. The thought of being alone again, would almost drive him mad, his brain threatened to collapse, but, Sera would always smile at him and he would jolt back to reality. He was grateful to her, but he was scared. He wanted to find a name that fit him before he ran out of time. He wanted to give her an actual wedding. She did not deserve what she was getting.
Gilbert was in his house, his hair had fallen out, and his skin had shriveled, but his smile remained the same. His daughter was happy, as a father, what more could he ask for? Then, that night, he passed away in his sleep.
Sera awoke to the news and broke down immediately, he attempted to console her but there was not much he could do so he just supported her how he could. Gilbert was buried behind his house, and then the house became Sera's.
Even more, years passed, now Sera was an old woman, and he was still the young man he was. He was breaking down slowly, he did not want Sera to leave him but there was nothing he could do. Throughout their "marriage" they have had sex countless times but to no avail. Doctors said that Sera was not barren and that he was healthy so there should be no reason for the failure. However, he knew what it was, since that crystal granted him immortality, his fertility withered. He could not even give Sera a child. He sat in the bedroom that night and cried for the first time in years, he was a failure of a human. He may have gained immortality but he could not have children, and he had to watch his loved ones die. Is there anything more agonizing?
He shook the thoughts out of his head, he had to be strong for Sera. Until the day came, Sera had fallen ill and a doctor recommended her to stay in bed. For she did not have long. When he heard this he almost shattered right there, but when he almost did, a warm hand grabbed him and stabilized his mind. Sera just smiled at him, "Dear, it is okay."
Then, the day came. She was dying while holding his hand. Her life force was fading and he was crying.
'WHY?! WHY?! I HATE THIS FUCKING IMMORTALITY! FUCK THIS GODDAMNED THING! TAKE IT BACK!' he screamed in his head.
When Sera's life force was at the weakest, she gazed lovingly at him and spoke, "Dear, did you decide on a name yet?"
The question struck his soul, he ran through his memories, until he stopped on the night when he and Sera talked about children, she laid on his chest, "If we have a son, I believe his name should be Alexander, it is such a strong name."
He returned Sera's gaze, tears falling from his eyes, he was trying to hold himself together, "I have, Alexander Royce, I will forever be known as Alexander Royce."
Sera smiled at his answer, "I'm happy you finally decided on a name."
With that, her life force faded as her eyes closed and her hand loosened its grip on his. He shuddered, "NO! SERA!"
He grabbed her hand and squeezed it, trying to give warmth, however, nothing would reverse time. He looked up and screamed, "IS THIS FUN?! HAHAHA! TAKE THIS GIFT BACK! I DON'T FUCKING WANT IT!"
He wanted nothing more than to finally die, he wanted to join his love. Fate is cruel, however, he pounded his head into the ground with such force that the ground caved in. He had finally broken down. He stood up and punched the walls of the castle, the whole castle shook. He grabbed his head and punched himself over and over, in an attempt to kill himself. Nothing worked. This was it, the final straw. He walked out of the castle, turned towards it one last time. Then left, he wanted to never return to this place. Once again, he was alone.
