good,bad teachers

Roxy has been our magical tutor for one month. She is excellent at describing magic. Starting from the bottom, there appear to be seven grades in magic: novice, intermediate, advance, saint, King, Emperor, and God. I find it amusing that there is a rank named deity because referring to yourself as a deity may get you in trouble in my former planet. The same technique applies to swordsmanship, albeit there are three styles: North God, Water God, and a sword God. So far, my brother Rudy has a tremendous knack for magic swordsmanship.

Roxy is a fantastic instructor. Her teachings are clear and straightforward, and she explains topics in a straightforward manner. My father, on the other hand, is a terrible teacher who never explains anything. Fortunately, in a prior life, I was a great swordsman. I believe Dad is bad at teaching because he was born brilliant and doesn't recognize what he's doing because he can do it instinctively.

Dad made us watch him cut a boulder in two with a wooden sword one day during training, then turned to us and said, "You guys need to step forward with a whoosh and a bang," and Rudy and I gazed at him unblinkingly. His form appeared a touch sloppy, but I would expect nothing less from someone of superior rank in all three swordsmanship schools. Then Dad says, "Who wants to try next?" I instantly respond, "I'll try next dad." I walk up to the boulder and aim at the edge piece because I doubt I'll be able to split it because it's already split in half, but I might be able to break a piece of the boulder off.

I began channeling this energy rushing through my previous life, which we called ki. I'm not sure what they name it here, and when I questioned Dad about it, he claimed even he didn't know, only that all warriors utilize it.

I calm my breathing and concentrate my efforts on bettering myself. It nearly seems like I'm extending invisible muscles across my body, and everything around me feels like a slimy sticky cage. I begin to intensify it and swing down word with the wooden sword, breaking off a chunk of the boulder. But, to my dismay, agony spread throughout my body, as if I had overdone these unseen muscles, leading me to drop my wooden sword and fall to my knees, gritting my teeth as my bones and muscles felt like they wanted to burst. When my father looks at me, he says

"are you all right" I get up unsteadily and say, "Yeah, I'll live." I walk over to Rudy and speak into his ear about how to use this energy that swordsmen appear to have. Rudy fails every time he tries.

Roxy teaches us the fundamentals of math, writing, and history at night. Roxy starts detailing the many races in our planet when my brother Rudy takes up and says, "I didn't know there were elves and demons in this world." Roxy responds, "yes, I'm a demon too, which is why your parents were surprised to see me." "The one demon tribe you should be wary of is the superd tribe; they are vicious killers; if you see one, run the other way; you never know what might set them off; you can tell if they're a superd if they have green hair and what appears to be a red gem on their forehead."

I became inquisitive and asked Roxy what tribe of demon she was, to which she replied, "the migurd tribe, my hair can look green in certain lights."

Rudy speaks up once more. "I think your hair is really pretty Miss" Roxy giggled and remarked, "You should wait until that to someone that you really like" without skipping a beat, Rudy responded, "but I like you miss" Roxy smiled sweetly and answered, "Why don't you wait and tell me that in 10 years then you can tell me that." She then informed us that we needed to go to bed. Rudy was still peering through the door as we left the room, attempting to see Roxy get dressed. I simply shake my head and proceed to my room. My brother is a true pervert. He clearly resembles his father. I notice Dad flirtatiously eyeing all the girls in the village.It makes me question if Mom is aware of it. I had discussed religion in this planet with Mom, and according to Mom's faith, you are only meant to marry once. Such was not the case in my prior life because religions in my society were never against a person having several lovers. What it came down to was that wedding vows are taken extremely seriously; if you swore to only love one person in your vow, it would be deemed terrible to accept another.

I laid down on my bed quickly after entering our room.

Rudy walks in shortly after, and as he prepares to sleep, I ask him, "Do you ever have nightmares about your death?" Rudy looks at me with interest and says, "No, I don't have nightmares about that." "However, I have nightmares that this is all a dream and that none of this is real." I nod and say, "I can assure you that this is all true." Rudy asks, "How did you die?" so I tell him about my fight with a lich and how we murdered each other. I inquired about Rudy's death.

Rudy said, "I was attempting to rescue some high school students when I was hit by a truck." I chuckled and remarked, "That stinks." "May I inquire as to what a truck is?" Rudy says swiftly, "Yeah, it did, but now I have a second chance to do everything I didn't do." To answer your query, a truck is a form of transportation in my planet. It's difficult to put into words what it is."

After that, we said good night to each other and went to bed.
