Something Unexpected

"It's more like a warning. You enter my house and don't pay rent. How do you expect me to interpret your disrespectful actions?"

Eris frowned and shouted, "Show yourself, and maybe we can talk on better terms, but most likely, you're just scared."

"I don't think I'm scared," Roxy didn't share Eris's confidence, who seemed ready for battle even though she had been afraid of what they might find in this place just a little while ago.

"Tiny humans, you surely have no idea who you're dealing with. I may be older than your parents and grandparents."

At that moment, within the pitch-black tunnel, something began to crawl slowly. This made Eris and Roxy prepare themselves, but unlike them, Gilgamesh didn't make any move. Instead, he manipulated his Enkidu's chains for something that annoyed him.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

As seconds passed, the bone-breaking footsteps grew closer to the exit of the deep pit, giving everyone more speculation about what might be emerging.

What kind of monster would come out of that place?

In their thoughts, this should be more ferocious than a raging dragon or a firebird. The heavy footfalls indicated that it was probably a deep-sea monster.

"Is it coming towards us?" Eris asked, her expression simple yet fierce, showing with just one look that no matter what happens, she wouldn't give up easily.

"Calm down. Nothing will happen that you haven't seen before." The relaxed look on Gilgamesh's face even made Roxy lower her guard a bit.

"Little human, stop boasting in this place. If I truly wanted danger, then I'm afraid it would be impossible for you to even protect yourself."

At that moment, a huge white bone appeared in front of everyone, and just as they were about to take action, something incredible happened in front of them.

"Is that a dog?" Roxy asked, extremely impressed.

"Isn't that bone part of the monster you mentioned, Gil?" Eris also chimed in after seeing a beautiful long-eared black dog chewing on a huge bone as it emerged from the pit.

The dog's ears reached down to its chest, and it kept its eyes fixed on the women beside Gilgamesh. After a glance at them, the dog shook its head as if regretting something. Typically, we associate breeds with long ears as having a keen sense of smell, but this dog was very different.

"You're an incredible creature, don't you speak now?" Gilgamesh cast a curious look at the long-eared dog and said, "Usually, dogs aren't like you, even though they like bones, they don't usually seek such large ones."

"What?!" Gilgamesh's words left Roxy and Eris astonished.

Had this long-eared dog just spoken to them?

Boom!

Dropping the enormous bone that possibly weighed tons, the long-eared dog was about to act, but after looking at Gilgamesh, its movements came to a halt for a long time.

"That armor, the chains... No, it can't be him..."

"You have the same body as him. Wait, shouldn't I ask him instead?"

"That dog is crazy..." Eris lost interest in a potential fight and sheathed her sword.

Intrigued by the dog's strange behavior, Gilgamesh approached it and asked with a smile, "Are you a human trapped in a dog's body?"

"Are you Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes?!" The dog exclaimed while leaping several meters in disbelief.

"How do you know that?" Gilgamesh was very interested in how a dog could know that.

But as if it were something incredible, the long-eared dog shouted, "My lord Gilgamesh, King of Heroes! I never thought I'd meet you in this place. How did my lord end up here? Wait, are we in some kind of Holy Grail or something related to it? I can't believe it, my lord. I never thought I'd meet someone as extraordinary as you in my life as a dog."

Eris looked at the dog, who seemed to be crying with excitement after recognizing Gilgamesh. She thought of many things, but her thoughts stopped when she heard many of the titles the dog recognized in her fiancé.

"Is that your friend Enkidu?" Roxy asked, genuinely confused. Reviewing her memories, she couldn't find any connections that related Enkidu to a dog, and certainly not the way Gilgamesh would react upon reuniting with his friend. While she believed it to be incredible, she still wanted to know who this dog was and what Gilgamesh intended to do with him.

The dog, whose name was Cusnfiel, stared at Gilgamesh for a moment and then said, "My lord, though I arrived here on pure instinct, I knew that greater things awaited me in this place."

Gilgamesh laughed a little and said, "I'm sure the situation is the same for both of us. So, let me ask you, how do you know who I am?"

Cusnfiel, now aware that he was in front of a king, changed his tone instantly and began speaking respectfully. "My lord, from this moment on, I will address you as my great lord, the King of Uruk. You are a legendary figure in my world, a powerful and wise ruler. My knowledge and respect for you multiply with every moment I spend near you. You can't even imagine how many people know and admire you."

He wasn't lying. Although it was more challenging for Gilgamesh to view the past lives of animals, he observed Cunsfiel's life in just a few minutes and discovered that he was older than he appeared. After seeing certain images, he knew that there was nothing unusual about Cunsfiel, and he had apparently been reincarnated.

"Ha!" Gilgamesh, who had appeared calm, began laughing out loud as he looked at Cunsfiel and said, "I never thought someone other than my wives would recognize my true greatness, but you certainly know more about me than you let on..."

At this moment, a question came to Gilgamesh: should he eliminate this long-eared dog? If it ended up siding with the enemy, there would likely be problems. However, as if he didn't expect what was about to happen, Cunsfiel lowered his head and said, "Please, let me swear loyalty!"

"What did you say?" Eris couldn't stay calm anymore; this dog was definitely very strange, and she didn't want to have it around.

Gilgamesh looked at Eris and said, "Didn't you want a dragon? This dog is much more interesting than you can imagine..."

Roxy looked at Gilgamesh and advised him, "Are you interested in having a dog as your ally?"

"I don't mind..." Gilgamesh turned to the dog and took out a metal cube. "Go ahead, make your oath."

"Yes, my lord!" Cusnfiel was more than excited to hear that Gilgamesh had accepted him. Originally, he would have believed that he would be killed if this Gilgamesh were one of the many he remembered.
