I don't remember anything from my past life and this troubles me, it's been five months since I was- is it safe to say?- reincarnated into this world, I have not left the walls of this home, though it is large, its constraints make me feel sick, I for some reason feel like I was a very outgoing person in my past life...
The language of this world though strange was rather easy to pick up, I spoke my first words one month ago and haven't stopped asking questions since, but my parents who didn't know that I was a near middle-aged man in this child's body, clearly decided to hide certain things. My father, Paul was his name. he was a swordsman, every day I watched him outside swinging his sword and practicing, I wondered what year it was, did this world even have time? That was soon cleared up one evening when Zenith, my mum, said it was "seven o'clock, where is your father!"
Our maid was a well-endowed woman, who was certainly quite young, just like Zenith and Paul, in their early twenties, it was weird considering they were like children to my past self whoever I was. I was watching my father's swordplay one day when the wind threw a dirty gust at my little figure, throwing me off balance and onto my back, cutting my head and dripping blood onto the floor, two things happened that day.
My mother picked me up, laid me on the counter, and whispered, "Let this divine power be a satisfying nourishment, giving one who has lost their strength to rise again!"
My head shone as if surrounded by a halo of green and the blood around my head stopped spilling, maybe she didn't mean it to happen, and even if it did happen, the man who sent me here managed to wipe it all out again, but I remembered one thing, my name, Adolf. My theory is that she partially healed my memory loss for a short period, I at least have some form of identity. But the revelation was that a certain power existed in this world, Magic I wanted a taste of that.
Paul and Zenith's room: 9:30 PM-
"Mama, Papa, I don't like my name!" I tried my best to replicate how a child would speak, but that dumb maid Lilia was always saying that I was eerie and like a grown man.
"Ah, Rudeus is a nice name, my boy," grinned Paul.
I spontaneously burst into ears and started balling my fists and hitting him on the chest, eventually, my mother picked me up and held me before asking, "If not Rudeus then what would you like to be called?"
I looked confused and put my fingers to my chin to act as if I didn't know and my parents watched for a while, not sure what to make of this strange request. "I want to be known as Adolf! Adolf!"
"Okay Okay my boy, Adolf it is, but does it not sound weird with my last name my son?" he inquired.
"Adolf Greyrat!" I said over and over and over and over again until they folded and allowed me to change my name, I slept like a baby that day quite literally.
Morning- Greyrat Home:
I wondered about the house today, the summer sun burst through the many windows of the massive home from all angles, and I was sweating when I reached the top floor, where my mother's storeroom was wide open, there were a few books in a box and I took them to my father and mother who spent time reading to me and teaching me how to read and write this strange new language.
I learned all about the different kinds of magic. Healing, Attack, and summoning magic. My parents took me outside and made me practice to no avail, I wasn't able to produce a single ounce worth of mana. Concerned and scared my parents were busy all the time suddenly and we were visited once by a man, with a long beard and an equally long staff.
"Hell, little Adolf... My name is Fenrir Monkback, I am a king-class water mage but you know all about classes don't you, being the bright little boy you are!" I nodded happily and thought of the mage classes.
Beginner, intermediate, advanced, saint, king, emperor, and finally the strongest class, Divine.
The man saw no need to speak anymore and put his frail old hands on my hand and gasped before giving my parents a grave look. Was this bad? The man who sent me here said fate would betray me at every turn, what have I done to deserve this?
My father picked me up after the man had left and took me to the well in the evening, "Adolf, my son, you have no mana, no magic."
I burst into tears, startling my father who held me tight before pulling back smiling and laughing "Which means, the only way you can be useful as a man is to master the art of the sword, through honing your body, from as young as you are now!"
And with that, he dangled me over the well upside down, "Prove your worth, Adolf!"
I fell...
