Chapter 2

I may have confidently declared that I had been reincarnated but the chances of that happening are extraordinary unlikely.

It is more than likely this is some kind of illusion created by my own mind and I am currently in a coma before I die.

Even if the so called 'Isekai' genre was popular it did not mean it was factual. However, it's immense popularity most likely pushed the thought into my mind, directing my coma.

It had been so popular that even I, an incredibly busy man, had heard of it and even read a few of their works. I had quite the selection as the one funding most projects so I was quite accustomed to the genre.

Then again it wasn't Japan that had created the idea of reincarnation. The reincarnation cycle existed in nearly all religions and mythos wether they be Hinduism Samsara or the Greek's underworld.

In any case, it was most likely my mind answering my wish for a loving family that created this illusion. It would be a shame not to take advantage of the chance.

"Gaga!" Laughing cutely and raising my arms up for a huge I couldn't help but smile. My body may be hypersensitive and my motor skills have regressed to suit my age but I am truly happy just at the happiness in my 'parents' eyes when they look at me.

I couldn't understand a word they were saying which was odd but so was this entire experience. Luckily I could understand the meaning of their words based on their tone of voice and emotions so I wasn't completely out of the loop.

For the moment they simply seemed to be happy albeit tired and worried parents though they could hardly be blamed. This was a first for them, for all of us.

And I for one was excited

|SoA|

A month has passed and I am happy and slightly regretful to announce that it has been the most peaceful time period in my entire life even if it was only an illusion created by my mind.

Then again… the idea of reincarnation was becoming increasingly more likely. No matter how creative my mind could be I doubt I'd be able to create a new world with such different laws compared to my own.

"Kyaa! Look, Paul, our Rudy is so adorable!" My mother, Zenith Greyrat, squealed in a mix of happiness and an overbearing amount of love. Truth be told I was lucky my bones had not yet been crushed in one of her overly excited hugs.

Rudeus Greyrat, or Rudy for short, was my name in this illusion/reincarnation. It wasn't a bad name by any means and I actually quite liked it though our last name leaves much to be desired.

"He takes after his parents. He'll definitely make for a good swordsman. Not as good as his old man but he'll definitely be talented!" My father, Paul Greyrat, declared confidently while making sure to brag about his own talents.

While my mother was fairly easy to adore my father made it much more… troubling. He seemed like a good person at heart but he had many flaws that even I could notice after just over a month.

He was a womanizer, an overconfident bragger, and a brash fool, but he was also a loving husband and father. He wasn't perfect, hell he seemed to be barely 'good' but he couldn't be faulted for that, at least not completely.

He was less than twenty years old, he was still determining what kind of person he wanted to be. He had more than enough on his plate without the added burden of providing for a family and taking care of a newborn child.

He was young and his life was changing, it would be close to impossible for him to be 'normal', especially in this Victorian esque era. Life as a young adult was difficult and while Paul couldn't be considered a good man at least he was trying.

And that was better than most.

"Rudy's a little genius, isn't he? Yes, he is~!" Zenith practically cooed as she hugged me into her cheek. She was a kind woman, easily excitable but kind nonetheless.

As I have never experienced familial love before I wouldn't say I am an expert by any means but it is fairly obvious that I had just recently birthed I was in a sort of honeymoon phase for a lack of a better term.

I was constantly watched, practically smothered in love at all hours of the day, and spent nearly every hour of my life under her care. It was fair, she had carried me for nine months and so she deserved a few months of excitement.

I couldn't say I hated it either. It was new but as a former businessman new was never a bad thing, especially in this case. It was strange being loved but it was also very… warm? There is no way to describe it other than that no matter how much I think.

Yet that was not the end of my newfound family. There was one more member, one that was much more responsible and mature to make up for Paul's lax attitude and Zenith's hopefully temporary excitement.

"The young master is indeed a genius however it is time for his nap. And Master Paul you should begin preparing to leave unless you'd like to be late." The mature and fairly cold voice of our family maid came from somewhere outside of my sight though I could naturally tell that she was near the door.

My ability to see the colors floating in the air and surrounding every living being didn't come from my eyes oddly enough. It was something akin to its own sense, a seventh sense that wasn't quite physical yet still existed similar to the sixth.

Sleeping was quite strange recently as I can sense everything in a certain radius even when I had my eyes closed and for the first time, I am happy that my body simply turns off at times of extreme exhaustion.

This sense that I have dubbed Magic Sense due to my hopes of this being real and not an illusion was similar to my other senses in the fact that it wasn't infinite. Just as I couldn't hear everything at some point my Magic Sense simply stopped working though considering it had a much farther range than my other senses that hardly seemed like an issue.

In any case, the third member of my strange family was also, unsurprisingly, a beautiful woman. She was a woman with proportions larger than even my mother's that were barely concealed by her large maid outfit. Her wine red hair was styled in a large bun and her eyes of the same color hid behind her oval glasses.

"Ah crap! Thanks, Lilia!" My ever-foolish father said before hardily dashing out of the room leaving barely a blur to my undeveloped newborn eyes. While I may have defended him just earlier that does not mean that he is currently unbelievably immature.

"Thank you so much for the help, Lilia. I wouldn't be able to take care of Rudy by myself and Paul is… well he's Paul." My mother said with a sincere smile as she cradled me in her arms, not yet placing me into my crib.

"There is no need to thank me, Miss Zenith. You've done more than enough." Lilia said with a soft smile on her face, her stiff posture not relaxing in the slightest from what I could tell. My Magic Sense was slightly vague without the assistance of my other senses just as somebody could tell the direction a voice comes from but not their exact placement without their eyes and other senses.

"Just call me Zenny, Lilia." My mother said with a smile as she gently placed me in a crib. From what I could gather I my crib was in the living room as it was in the exact middle of the house to ensure that if the need be anyone could come by and help me with anything I need.

"I can't do that Mistress." Lilia immediately refuted, her words becoming even more formal despite my mother's best efforts.

"I'll get you to call me Zenith even if I have to pay you!" My mother spoke up with an odd amount of determination as she slowly walked away from my sight to where Lilia is.

I suppose they will be enjoying themselves for the time being so it would be a perfect time to experiment.
