Murdist: What is a Human?

What is a human being? A question I made my life's purpose... When the answer is so close within my hands it escapes... I will chase after it and take what is mine. A fanfic of "Murdist: Shikeishuu Kazami Tazuru" never seen one. Makes sense though as it's only a manga so I decided I wanted to make one. I did not make "Murdist: Shikeishuu Kazami Tazuru" nor do I own anything. The only thing I own is my OC. Oh yeah btw I didn't make the cover either so if anyone wants me to take it down I'll put another cover instead. Also this FF will go over dark topics such as the following: Gore, Murder, etc... Read at your own digression. Finally this is the first time I'm writing anything so some feedback and critical thinking will be appreciated. Also I'll be uploading this on Scribble Hub and upload schedule is not consistent as I'm doing this more as a hobby. I'll try to do one chapter a day.

The Fall Of The Murdist

"Breaking News! The Serial Killer Murdist has just turned themselves in! The mass murderer that has eighty-nine victims has just turned themselves in and is awaiting trial!"

"Not good enough." So she finally decided that enough was enough, huh?. I guess it would have come sooner or later. I thought.

For me I have yet to find meaning in humans.

How many has it been now?

Click!

"Still not good enough…"

89 victims… All with unique ways of death… She truly does live up to the name of "Murdist".

Click!

"Mmm. Finally I got the right one."

These days I don't even need the polaroid anymore. Everything is digital nowadays. So much harder to… Hmm… Should this be the last I wonder? Kazami-san found her answer and I have yet to find mine…

Am I even answering my question anymore? I'm just following the footsteps of another.

My grip around the camera increased. I felt so frustrated. So… lost…

The way of life I had lived for was gone. Everyone had left for separate ways. Technician as usual didn't care enough and left right away. Yuuki-san… I feel bad for her. Her girlfriend is leaving her without a shred of remorse for what it will do to her…

And I… I lost my idol. She was my goal and she was leaving me behind. Finding her answers and not sharing them with me… I just want to know. But why? WHY DID SHE NEED TO RUN OFF AND KEEP HER SECRETS FROM ME!? SHE BETRAYED ME!!!

I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER AND SHE TAKES THAT AWAY FROM ME!? FOR WHAT REASON!? WHAT RIGHT DOES SHE HAVE FROM TAKING THAT AWAY FROM ME!?

I should go and ask her. I'll know then.

Sora left the scene.

Under the cold embrace of the night a mangled corpse was nailed to the brick walls of the alley.

Its head was looking down at the floor and eyes dull showing the absence of life. Its arms were hanging from intestines that were tied on their wrists. Its stomach was open and leaking of blood as several small pieces of flesh dropped onto the ground. The feet were nailed onto the walls and they were so close that distance was nothing but a mere concept to the two of them.

The overall scene looked like a gory failed attempt at making a depiction of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Head hanging down, arms trapped from their own intestines that were nailed to the wall, their stomach split open to give a view of light for the first time, and finally their legs nailed so close that a legend could be born…

Just another day.

Another day of ignorance and another day at life.

Hahaha!

It took me two years to find her location… The world is in chaos right now…

But… I found her!!!

"I found you" I found her. I found her. I found her.

How dare you get away with the answers that are my life's purpose?

You won't escape.

You never had the option to escape.

The government will be sorry that they didn't kill you sooner.

I will burn the world.

I will burn the world to find you.

I will burn the world to get my answers from you.

I wil-

Beep! Beep! Beep!

"Hello, who is this?"

"It's me, now that I did what you asked of me, give me my paycheck."

"Ah! Technician-san~! Why didn't you say so? Let's chat for a bit more? Catch up huh~!"

"Just give me my paycheck."

"You're no fun~ Fine. I sent it. Enjoy~!"

"..."

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Ding!

I opened my messages.

"Hmm. I see." Technician left the package at a train station.

Is this a lure? Did he get paid more from someone else? If he betrayed me… Oh well… Nothing I can do about it I suppose.

I packed my things in a duffel bag and left for the package.

Just another day.

The world has gone mad.

The 'Murdist' has caused ripples across the world. She created something… A… revolution. She created a revolution about her.

People have started killing each other to try and 'copy' Kazami Tazuru. Hah.

"What has the world come to?"

I had my left hand resting on my face as I thought about the current situation of Japan and the rest of the world.

I looked outside my car's windshield and into the sky. The sky seemed so much better than all the chaos down here.

Hah. Time to get a move on.

I started driving towards the prosecutor's office. I was a prosecutor in the criminal division here in Tokyo.

I was in charge of finding and getting the 'Copycats' (as we called them).

We have completed many cases of people trying to copy Kazami Tazuru. It's been quite a headache. But… there are always the competent ones… One major case has popped up. The news stations are even featuring it.

But…

My grip on the steering wheel tightened.

She knows… she knows most if not all the 'Copycats' identities. How? I don't care about that knowledge.

Kazami Tazuru. Her worth right now in stopping these crazed killers is more than gold.

Now I am going today to negotiate what she wants in order to give us the information on the Copycats.

Huu…

BEEP!!!

TING!

"Good morning Prosecutor Nomura. Are you ready for the negotiations today?"

"Hah… Yes thank you for asking, let's do this now."

"I see… Yes I understand"

I thank this man for giving me more silence to prepare myself for this interaction.

My mind drifted to Kazami Tazuru… What do I think of her? I just think of her as an evil person. She killed eighty-nine people after all. If that's not evil then what is she?

"We're here, Prosecutor. Good luck, I hope for good news."

"Yes… thank you."

I pushed open the door into the interrogation room. In two of the corners of the room were police officers keeping watch.

I sat down in front of her.

"Death row inmate Kazami Tazuru. What do you want for the information on the 'Copycat' you call Figure Maker?"

… How do I explain it? Even after just coming into this room I started sweating a little on my forehead. If you didn't know any better you might have just thought that she was just another beautiful girl you would see on the streets.

"Quite straightforward aren't you Nomura-san?" She said with one of her hands on her cheek. If I could explain her mood right now it would be that she's bored. Does she not care about death? I suppose not, after all she turned herself in.

"Answer the question. What do you want in exchange for the information on Figure Maker?"

"My~ my~ don't get so worked up. After all, I'm the one with the cards, not you Prosecutor. Shouldn't you be more polite?" She had both her hands crossed one another and under her chin while saying this.

"..."

I just stared at her with my eyebrows creased and teeth clenched with a small frown.

She was right, it was ironic how she had her hands cuffed but the ones who were really trapped were us.

"Fine~ fine~ I only have a few conditions for the information on Figuremaker. I want to meet Yuuki Otohito and through him I'll give you the information. If you can do that I'll give you the information. That's all."

Yuuki Otohito? Who is that? Also through him? Are we really going to bring an innocent civilian into this mess…

I could feel my teeth clench.

"I see… I'll be back with him then…"

"Goodbye Nomura-san… I'll be seeing you soon…"

I just looked back and stared at her ever smiling face and cat-like eyes.

I'll bring you to justice, I swear.

"Hahaha!"

I could hear the children laughing, the birds tweeting, the animals making sounds; everything was just so peaceful.

I looked around. I could feel the morning breeze on my skin and smell the morning dew.

I smiled.

I just smiled as I went through each of these sensations.

It's been a day since I got the package from Technician-san. I haven't opened it yet for the reason that these sensations would soon go away. I want to feel them one last time.

I grabbed the folder that was at my side and opened it.

There must have been around a hundred or so papers each detailing a person. What was unique about each of them was that each of them were 'Copycats'.

I flipped through each one without even bothering to look at each of them carefully. Technician-san had a bad habit of sorting papers in ways I did not like.

"Ah! Technician-san why must you always do this? I even told you how to do it too…"

"Mommy that onii-san is talking to himself!"

How cute. Children are pure. I'll try not to kill them.

"Kotaro! I told you not to do that! I'm so sorry, Please forgive him!"

"No no it's quite alright children should be curious and be having fun there's nothing wrong with that."

I just smiled as I replied. When I smiled at Kotaro he just hid behind his mother's legs.

Haha! This is how the world should be. Pure without stains corrupting it.

"Once again I'm so sorry about Kotaro's attitude!"

"No, as I said before, it's quite alright."

As the mother-son duo left I went back to sorting the files.

Technician-san liked to sort all the files in a linear way. For example only putting the files in alphabetical order, numerical order, etc…

While I liked to be more meticulous with the order and put them into distinctive groups. I could have one group for people who were dead, another for people alive, and so on…

By the time I was done it was already ten a.m. I got here at around six? Four hours of just sorting…

Technician-san made me waste this time… Should I just kill him? He made me waste time that could have been used in interrogating Kazami-san.

I even told him multiple times while we traveled together on how to sort the files but he never listens…

Well no point in getting mad over something in the past.

Let's hurry this up already. I could be achieving my life goal and instead I'm getting mad over something that doesn't even matter.

I put the files back into the folder and left the park and headed back to my apartment.

What a nice day.
