On a double bed lit by windows covered by a red , thin curtain , slept Neo and Emerald . Both girls slept tightly snuggled into each other . Emerald hid her face in the neck of Neo , who hid her nose in Emerald's green hair . Both slept peacefully satisfied with their position . In Neo's case, this contentment was only due to a lack of awareness of who she was hugging or a lack of awareness that the person she was hugging was not the person she was thinking of .
But this peaceful and charming scene ended when Neo slowly awoke from her sleep . To her surprise , instead of smelling and seeing the silky rose-scented , black hair of Kurumi . Neo saw and smelled the mint-scented green hair of Emerald . This surprise, however, did not make Neo push Emerald away . Feeling Emerald calm breath on her neck , Neo somehow could not bring herself to push her away .
The reasons for this behavior could have been many . But the main reason may be that deep down , despite their frequent disputes and fights , Neo does not hate Emerald . Although Neo will not openly admit it , she is willing to risk her life for Emerald . For Neo , Emerald is an annoying sibling . And , she is annoying in Neo's eyes only because she has the courage to vie for Kurumi's attention , when she herself does not have the same courage to confess her feelings .
Without moving too much , Neo noticed that Kurumi was no longer in the room which means that she got up early . This also explained her why she got into this situation with Emerald at all . As this was not the first time something like this happened , Neo knows that practically every time Kurumi gets up first , she and Emerald end up in this position . As embarrassing as it would be for her , she can't help it , from years of being used to sleeping with Kurumi in a hug , Neo now can't sleep without anything to cuddle . And what she hugs while sleeping , is no longer up to her .
Sighing and not moving so as not to wake Emerald , Neo did not notice that this girl was no longer asleep . With her face , as red as her eyes , Emerald lay motionless in Neo's embrace trying to pretend she was asleep . Although her heart was beating like crazy and her thoughts told her to enjoy the moment, she did not let it overwhelm her and betray that she was awake. Therefore to let this moment last , she calmed her heart , while digging her face harder into Neo's neck .
Unfortunately for Emerald , her pleasant moment was interrupted by the opening of the door . Through the door Kurumi quietly entered , along with three clones with plates in hand . Seeing the sudden arrival of Kurumi , Neo out of fear that Kurumi would see her like this with Emerald , unknowingly pushed Emerald away from her. The fact that Kurumi had seen them in this situation many times did not even cross Neo mind . What she did was more of an instinct than a deliberate act , unfortunately what happened has already happened .
No longer having to pretend , Emerald turned to see Kurmu and her shadowy clones . On the plates held by clones , were scrambled eggs , bread and cupcake . None of these things looked special . It was not decorated or elegantly arranged like in a rich restaurant . In taste it was never like that either . Kurumi nor any of them have supernatural cooking abilities . The two plates placed on their covered legs had nothing special on them . And yet , the mere fact that Kurumi made it for them was enough to make this meal the most wonderful .
It's like food made by mom , it's simply the best and nothing will change that . Mom's food is just different , better , even if other food may taste the same , the one made by mom will nevertheless be better . Therefore for Neo which never eaten her mother's cooking because of the chefs employed in her house , and Emerald which was happy when she got any food from her mother at all , even such a simple meal prepared by Kurumi tastes amazing .
And this is because it had something that no other dishes have . Care , these meals were prepared for them by the person they love and admire . It was not made for them because they paid or do something for it . It was done , just because they were thought of . And well , looking at their past , the feeling that someone thought of them is much more appreciated by them then the taste of the food itself .
But it was most felt by Neo , once ignored and condemned , now loved and appreciated for who she is . Even if her father arranged the best cooks in the Vale to prepare meals for her . Apart from the warmth of the dish itself , there were no warm feelings in this food . In her mouth it was no different from a microwave-heated burito. Just food, only tasty and with better ingredients. On the other hand, Kurumi did this food " for her " because she knew she would be hungry . Kurumi got up earlier than them , to cook this food for her , even though she didn't have to .
Both of them could prepare breakfast by themselves . But Kurumi thought of them and set aside her time to do it . The fact that the clones helped her or did most of the work doesn't change anything because Kurumi first had to learn how to cook to pass on her knowledge to the clones . Even with the help of the clones , this food was made with them and their needs in mind . It was made by Kurumi . Even if they got just a piece of burnt bread , knowing that Kurumi was trying , for them , they would still eat it with taste . Of course Kurumi's cooking is not so comically bad .
Sitting down on the bed, the two began to eat their portions . And with the first bite they felt that nothing had changed in Kurumi's cooking skills since the last time . Eggs a little too salty and fried too long . Bread fresh and looking at the fact that Kurumi has never baked bread , it means that it must have been freshly bought . As for the cupcakes , unlike bread , looking at slightly undercooked middle and burnt base , they certainly were baked by Kurumi . The whole dish , is not bad , simple in taste . And yet , in their mouths it was delicious .
Both were so engrossed in eating that they didn't even notice that the last plate was placed near the scratching post of the cat house . On the plate was a stinky slush of gelatin and meat , called cat food . The stench of this thing rejected by God , pulled both Emerald and Neo from eating . Looking at Kurumi who was looking for her Cat , they both noticed something .
Feeling the gaze on her , Kurumi turned toward them with her usual smile . Unfortunately the two on the bed were not so pleased when they saw Kurumi's condition . Kurumi was much paler than she should have been , her eyes had dark bags under them . It was obvious that Kurumi was not feeling very well and was not sleeping very well . Losing all her initial joy , Neo looked Kurumi in the eyes and moving a little closer to the middle of the bed she patted the vacant spot next to her .
Her gaze told Kurumi a lot , but the clearest message was " Lie down next to me , no discussion " . Seeing how intense a look Neo sent her , Kurumi could not refuse and lay down next to Neo , who covered her under their shared cover . This Action was watched by Emerald , who was no less worried than Neo , but simply seeing the interaction of the two girls in front of her did not want to disturb them . Besides , Neo was extremely scary at that moment which made Emerald unsure how safe it was to speak out .
Seeing Kurumi next to her , Neo picked up the fork with the eggs and put it under Kurumi's mouth . However, instead of eating , Kurumi almost vomited at the smell of food itself . At that moment , Neo's gaze seemed to be asking " Did you eat anything at all ? " . Disgruntled , angry and worried Neo did not spare from a sharp look at Kurumi , who knowing that she would not win the argument sighed .
" Yes , I haven't eaten yet . I'll eat later, now I feel bad but it will pass and then I'll eat, so don't worry pink mouse. "
Says Kurumi calmly , at which Neo looks at her plate which makes her face spoil even more when her gaze begins to burn holes in the side of Kurumi's head . She clearly asked the question , " Why did you do it , when I see how bad you feel ? You should rest , not work ! Why do you strain yourself unnecessarily ? You promised me that you would rest today "
" It's just scrambled eggs , nothing difficult or demanding to do . It only took me a few minutes to make it together with the muffins .Besides it's the clones , they did all the work , I just went to the store to buy bread . "
Says Kurumi , completely ignoring the fact that she went to the city in the middle of the night to catch some people to get more " time " . Both Emerald , and Neo do not know about this , and Kurumi has no intention of changing that because she herself knows how stupid and spontaneous it was on her part . This hunt ended with her reeling in pain in one of the alleys . Because of this pain , Kurumi had to go home earlier than she thought , because only after an hour of hunting .
However , Kurumi managed to find as many as nine victims in this time . After returning to the clock store , Kurumi could not sleep which made her read a book until morning . Of course when morning approached , a bored Kurumi decided to prepare breakfast . Unfortunately , she was so nauseous that she left this task to the clones when she went to get bread herself.
" Eat at least a little , if you starve yourself you will faint . Take at least a bite of bread so you don't do anything on an empty stomach " .
Says a worried Emerald giving Kurumi her half eaten meal . Seeing this , Neo , annoyed by the behavior of Kurumi and Emerald , was about to offer her plate . However , only then did she notice that there were no more than two bites of food left on her plate . Sighing at this , Neo placed Emerald's plate on Kurumi's thighs . Just as Kurumi was about to refuse , a black , now adult cat poked its head out of the open door of the room and after throwing a side-eye at the three girls , she move to her plate laid on the ground . While the cat took care of her meal , Neo continued to show her concern and worry at Kurumi's health condition .
