Chapter 23- Difference In Background

Shinobu stared at the full revival reward, she felt her heart skip, because it is something that she wanted the most.

Because with this, she will be able to revive her sister, and maybe if she worked hard to get more of these, then it would be a great help to the demon slayers.

But then she felt numb as she accidentally scrolled down the rewards because below the reward she has seen, there are more items that can revive anything.

And their prices are also stupidly high but seeing their effects she thought it was reasonable, she saw a revival item that costs a million and those who were revived by this item will turn into a high human.

Which means not only they got revived from death, they also transcended their humanity and became the highest evolution of human beings.

She didn't dare to go down more as she thought her world would turn upside down if she saw more of these, she didn't doubt these things are real because she knew they had no reason to lie to her.

Shinobu calmed herself down before looking at Cryd, her eyes were full of determination.

"Tell me, what do I have to do?"

"Hmm, before you start, I would like you to recommend use the VR pod first"

"Why?"

"No offense, but with your current strength, you will surely die, using the VR pods has the benefit of making you stronger, I can't explain it so you have to use it yourself"

Shinobu entered the game and immediately came to character creation, she didn't change anything to her appearance but she felt a little uncomfortable at her new clothes which fits with the sci-fi theme of the game, especially the skirt, she didn't like it, fortunately, she could change her clothes so she immediately changes her pants.

She wanted to increase her height but after being warned by the system of the problems, she stopped herself, she then nicknamed herself as Butterfly(the meaning of her name) and then finally entered the game.

Like how Kazuma went through, Shinobu also fell from a high place and almost drowned in mud.

If Kazuma saw this he would give Cryd a thumbs up for upholding gender equality gameplay.

She felt angry after this but her anger immediately changed to amazement because she felt like she was in another reality.

Shinobu couldn't help but extend her hand as she felt every droplet hitting her hand, it was a mystical feeling for her.

Just then a floating blue panel appeared in front of her telling her to collect 20 pieces of scraps.

Shinobu followed the mission but unlike Kazuma who picked things randomly, she picked the scraps that looked clean and didn't have any deforms, etc.

Even though she didn't know what the scraps are for, Shinobu carefully chose them.

Due to her picky nature, it took her a lot of time to finish picking the items and when she finished, it was already morning.

Her next mission is then to leave the scrap yard but unlike Kazum's mission where he left pretty easily, Shinobu has to avoid the employees around the scrap yard as entering the scrap yard is illegal, this only happens in the morning.

As a master of stealth, Shinobu easily escaped being caught, even though her body is pretty weak and isn't as strong as her own, Shinobu still able to leave the Scrap Yard.

Getting outside, Shinobu arrives at the New Tokyork, where she is then navigated by the system to go to the workshop.

Shinobu followed the navigation arrow but her pace was slow since she was looking around the place, the design of the buildings were a marvel to her, the technology, the lifestyle of people.

'If demons didnt exist maybe our life would be like this'

Shinobu thought, her heart full of hope for the future. Soon, she entered a dark alley and arrived at the entrance of a stairs that was going down into darkness.

Shinobu didn't feel anything and fearlessly entered this stairs, soon, she arrived at the ground.

[Welcome to Underground Slums]

Shinobu looked around and couldn't help but sigh.

'Sure enough, there is another side of a coin'

She has the same reaction as Kazuma about this other side, she then follows the navigation arrow and due to being morning, the slums are bursting with people.

Shinobu could see many types of people who lives in the slums, from old to young, and those who have jobs and those who don't,

She could also see many kinds of establishments are open, from a bakery, to stalls on the streets, and there are also a lot of mechanic shops.

Shinobu wanted to try the foods that were sold in stalls but she didn't have any money so she could only look at those.

Soon she arrived at the 'Workshop', it was a two-story house made of bricks and had a chimney that continuously emitted smoke.

She then looked at the plaque.

[Sendoku Workshop]

This was the navigation arrow is pointing, Shinobu then turned to the side of the workshop and saw a young man crazily building a house and was muttering a lot of things and yells from time to time.

Seems like there are also a lot of weird people in this world, Shinobu then stepped inside the Sendoku Workshop and was immediately greeted by 2 girls.

"Sister Butterfly is here!"

"Sister Butterfly!"

The two girls jumped to her and hugged her tightly, Shinobu was confused of what was happening, she then saw a sexy matured woman, who was wearing a white sports bra, a bandana on her head, and is covered in dust with black short hair looking at her with a smile on her face.

"Butterfly, you are finally back!"

She came and also hugged her tightly, Shinobu was still confused until she suddenly felt her head get electrocuted for a moment then surge of memories entered inside her head.

This woman in front of her is her elder sister, the two little girls were their adopted sister, the workshop she is in is their family workshop.

This was her new background in this world!

No, Cryd is not giving Shinobu any favors and neither is he doing anything for female players, the game a secret function of determining the players background.

And this function is triggered by the first mission, yes, the answer is the quality of the scraps they are picking.

Due to Kazuma picking all Garbage type scraps, he received a homeless guy who has no future which is why he got that shitty workshop.

The scraps are ranked like this, Useless, Garbage, Scrap, Normal, Fine, Excellent, Great, Master, Grandmaster, and Legendary.

Meanwhile, Shinobu has picked up Fine Quality Scraps which is already amazing for being able to pick those, well, not all of them, might be 2 or 3 but it was enough to give her great advantage.

Of course, there are more higher rank scraps in the scrap yard and getting those will have a more amazing background, you know, they might even be able to find a rich second generation background.

But well, those and that are for the player to explore.

All in all, it was Shinobu's ability that gave her this kind of background, and soon, Shinobu started learning about robot engineering.

After Shinobu entered the game, Cryd was once again waiting for the next customer, but this time the wait was actually longer.

He looked at the time and only an hour had passed. Cryd slowly became bored waiting for the next customer and even if he played with yellow his boredom didn't leave.

Cryd then looked at the VR pod.

"Should I play?"

He felt like it would be cheating if he really played the game because with his enhanced mind, he could remember everything in the game and that includes all the amazing missions, items, etc. in the game.

It would feel like bullying if he ever did take those.
