Ch. 70 Spearmanship

*A few weeks later*

Dodging artoria's attack, I countered by hitting the butt of my spear to her stomach, which she dodged by taking a step back.

" Seems you're getting better."

Artruis:" Thank you, Yuto."

" Uh huh, come on, let's go. We gotta meet up with sir Ector and Sir Kay."

Artoria nodded, and we both left to meet Ector and Kay at the gates.

They both arrived with their horses with some other knights as well. Ector was going to lead a group of knights to take out a bandit group.

' Bandits again. I swear they're everywhere.'

Artoria and I, as well as other squires, were going to go along with the knights to help take care of miscellaneous tasks.

Kay:" Yo! I look great in this armor."

" Don't fall off the horse idiot."

Kay:" Hey, I'm a natural at this."

" Uh huh."

Using animal whisper, I incited the horse to make Kay fall off the horse.

Horse:" Neigh!!!!"

Kay:" W..woah!! "

* Thud *

Ector:" Kay, your riding needs practice."

Kay looked up to his father and retorted.

Kay:" I swore I had it in control!"

Kay spoke, and as he looked into my direction, I had a smug smile as I petted the horse.

Kay suspected that I was the one who made him fall off the horse.

I ignored his stare as I petted the horse.

" There there, I know it's traumatizing to let him ride you."

Kay:" Hey!!"

Ector:" Sigh, Kay, get back on your horse, and Yuto, you'll be riding with Artoria. You know how to ride, right?"

" Yeah, I know how to ride."

I was able to learn this when I was training at the knights building.

" Come on, let me give you a hand."

As I climbed the horse, I offered a hand to Artoria, who accepted and climbed behind me.

Petting the horse, I instantly made a connection to her.

" Good girl, come on, let's follow the rest."

Artoria:" You're quite gentle with animals.""

" Only to the ones not trying to kill me."

Pulling the reins, I steered towards Sir Ector and Kay.

Ector:" It seems you're a natural at this Yuto."

Ector:" Ready up, men!! Let's move!!"

Sir Ector shouted as he steered his horse to the gates, and we followed him.

As we marched through the dirt road, we rode until dusk. Setting up camp, Aroria and I had to help around the camp and cook.

As I cooked my portion for Ector, Kay, and Artoria, the smell seemed to spread around the camp, and many others started to glance at my portion.

Extor seeing them eyeing his food glared at them, which caused them to turn back.

After we finished eating, it was time to sleep as some knights were on night duty.

* Next day *

As I was getting, I walked outside the small tent. Some knights woke up early, and others were still sleeping in. I'm taking my ten down and storing it on the cart. I headed to Artoria as I saw her on the map.

" How can you wake up so early? You must be a monster."

Artoria" What was it you said before? I'm just better than you?"

She had a smile as she retorted.

" Hah! Funny." I said sarcastically.

I took out my spear and suggested a spar.

" How about a spar."

Artruis:" Hm." She nodded.

Taking the basic stance of a spear, I stabbed forward, which Artoria dodged. Stepping back to dodge a swing, I swung my spear around to hit her with the butt of the spear.

Artoria moved her head and swung her sword to my feet, which caused me to jump. Artoria was expecting that as she turned the edge of the blade upward.

I spinned the spear, hitting the flat of the blade, making it swing in a different direction. As Artoria lost her footing, I swung the butt of the spear into her sheet, which was blocked by her sword gaurd.

And before I could step back to change my weight on my foot, Artoria's sword was pointing at my neck.

" Sigh, I lost."

Artoria smiled as she finally against me.

As we both finished our spar, it was time to head out once more. Artoria and I had to pack up for Evtor and Kay.

Riding on the horse again as we followed Ector on the dirt road.

As I was holding the reins on the horse, I relaxed to the warm sun and the breezing wind brushing against my face, and as I closed my eyes, I let the horse know he should follow the others with my animal whisper skill.

And as I was relaxing, I felt Artoria lean her body against mine. Looking back to her, I saw her asleep as she held my waist.

Letting her be, I just enjoyed the peaceful times as much as I could.

' Sigh, Leveling Spearmanship is tougher than a sword since I don't have any techniques to train the spear in.' I thought to myself.

' Maybe I could use breathing style on the spear as well. I'll have to experiment on it once I have time. I should also find a way to get into the land of shadows as well.'

For the next 4 hours, we kept traveling until we were close to the bandit camp.
