Chapter three Hard life
It's been one week in the mansion and life has not been easy for Sarah. Peter said she sleeps in the same room with Damian,but in the room, she was told to sleep at the sofa, and that place is where all the temperature from the air conditioner meets. It seems like everyone in this mansion hates her for no reason. Is being lazy a reasonable excuse to hate a person? As long as it does not affect anyone else but her, why are they all targeting her?
Yesterday she was woken up early and told to go and flower the plants, and after she was done she was told to set the table, but she did not complain because of her father's request. Nowadays she feels feverish every day that she has to survive with pills, because of the cold temperature at night. Anna has made the mansion her second home, she comes more often and sometimes even sleeps over.
They have been criticizing her and calling her all the names they could think of, especially when Peter and Damian are not around, that's why most of the time she stays in the room.
Today they called her when the elders were there and said they will be going for a girl's night out at the Inn's bar. She wanted to refuse but they couldn't give her a chance, Joy also supported them.
She was not in the mood for any make up, so all she did was put on a full white casual clothes and walked out. The clothes were simple but smart on her.
They went to the car, and Sarah as usual sat at the co-pilot next to the driver, and put on her earphones. "I heard Doe has released a new song, did you hear it?"Anna started the conversation.
"Yes, I heard it. The one with the theme, `If you are not loved, don't force it!'" Maddie replied. The both of them were fans of Doe' s songs.
"I wonder why she is so mysterious, no one has ever seen her face. You know, I asked my director and manager to invite her to one of my scenes but they said they couldn't reach her." Anna complained. She tapped Sarah's shoulders and when she looked at her, Anna asked, "Sarah, you wanted to be a musician, do you still dream of it, I can help you with that you know. Since I am famous, I can introduce you to some artists in the musical industry. What type of music do you want to sing?"
"That was all in the past, I am no longer interested." After she said that she put back the earphones with no interest of speaking to them, and throughout the journey, she was excluded from the conversation.
They arrived at the bar, and walked to a VIP room where a lot of ladies were seated. They all seemed to know each other, except Sarah who was left out. After they all gathered and ordered drinks, one lady asked, "and who is your new friend."
"A friend is a very strong word to use, you know, especially for lazy people like her. I just brought her with me for fun." After Maddie said that, all the other ladies understood the meaning.
Sarah sat at the corner, excluded again and just concentrated back on her phone and started typing. They started talking about their families' businesses and current earnings. "You know, today I am celebrating because I just signed a new contract with the MV Group, which says... I have made my father proud!" one of the ladies said.
"Congratulations!" Everyone jeered as they clink their wine glasses. Sarah did not want to drink, so she ordered a raspberry juice, she likes the flavor.
"Maddie, I have to renew my contract with your brother's company, can you please help me?" the other lady said.
"It is best if you ask Anna for help, she is my brother's most beloved." Maddie said it intentionally to see Sarah's expression but got none.
"I heard he got married one week ago, and I haven't seen them going out." The third lady said.
"Well Faith, my brother was just forced to marry her, otherwise there is nothing else, they will just divorce soon. His fiancée is right here." Maddie said, pointing at Anna, who smiled shyly. All this time they talked, Sarah listened to their conversations but she pretended not to listen because some of the words spoken, were to criticize her. She stood up, excused herself and went to the washrooms.
After she was done, she walked in the room, but out of nowhere, she bumped into one of the ladies,her white clothes were now perched with red wine. Though she knew it was intentional, she reacted nonchalant, she apologized and went to pick her bag and walked out, leaving all the others staring at each other. After she closed the door behind her, she did not leave immediately she stood there and heard Maddie 's voice. "Carol, you did great, her presence was suffocating me, I told you she is lazy and weak, she cannot do anything to you, and even if she tried to, I wouldn't let her harm you."
"Such a bitch."
Sarah who was outside, slowly walked away from the room, and noted down all the occasions today, she will soon have her come back. She smiled sinisterly. `They started showing their claws so early. 'She was deep in thoughts that she did not see someone approaching on the other side,which caused them to bump on each other and something fell down. "Sorry."
