71 Interlude

~26 June 2008~

*Valerie Vongola POV*

*Sob* *Sob*

I wake up from my sleep and see Wendy sitting on our bed while crying silently.

"Wendy, is it the same dream?"

"En"

It has been a day since the fight against the Khaos Brigade, and it has also been a day since Wendy having a nightmare about the patient she cannot save.

"Come on. We will tell this to big brother."

"No…"

"No! We need to tell this problem to him. Come on"

I take her hand and begin to drag her toward the brother's Lexian room and knock on his door. A few seconds later, the door is open up, and I see brother Lexian and sister Mordred come out of the door.

"Is there anything I can do to help you, Valerie?"

"Brother… Wendy having a nightmare."

"Really? Please come inside and tell me about your nightmare."

As we sit down on the bed, I encourage Wendy to tell her story. After hesitating for a few seconds, she begins to tell about how every time she closes her eyes, she sees her patient face inside her dream begin to be rescued and blame her for not trying hard enough for saving them.

After hearing Wendy's story, my brother walked toward Wendy and hugged her, followed by me and then sister Mordred. We continue to hug her for a few minutes before big brother releases his hug and looks at Wendy firmly.

"Wendy, never blame yourself. You do your best, and you try your hardest to save them all. It would be best if you did not blame yourself for trying your best, and I know that the one that leaves the living world knows that you try your best to save them all. That's why wipe out your tears and look at the future. We can't save everyone, but we can try our hardest to save as many people as we can."

"... Will this feeling go away?"

"No, it never will. It will stay, but slowly it will become more and more transparent, but it will stay there. However, please don't see it as a curse. That feeling is proof that you are a good person. That feeling is proof that you are a human that cares for others."

"... Does it ever get any easier?"

"Seeing so many people die?"

"...En."

"Pray, it never does."

Big brother then let Wendy and me sleep in his bed with him and sister Mordred. I hope that Wendy will overcome this and be her normal self. I don't want to see her like this. I can feel her distress from our guardian connection, and I wouldn't say I like it. I want her to be happy and not in distress.

Be strong, Wendy!

*Azazel POV*

"Azazel, do I become my grandfather?"

I look at Vali Lucifer, who sits down beside me. It has been a day since the fight against Khaos Brigade in Faysummit and also a day since Lexian Vongola asked me to punish Vali for his crime against Faysummit.

"Yes, you let your battle maniac cloud your decision. From now on, I forbid you to go to the Khaos Brigade meeting."

"You know about my activity, huh?"

"Of course. You underestimate the Grigori spy network."

"So, what will happen to me? Will you send me to Tartarus?"

"Yeah, I should have sent you to Tartarus, but I'm known as a rebellious person, so your punishment is you cannot leave our base for a year without my permission and one of the cadres following you around. You will not get paid for every job I give you."

I take a deep breath and look at him with a stern expression before saying.

"Don't make me regret this, Vali. Even if I see you as my son, I will still kill you to maintain peace and for my race survival. Don't spit on my kindness."

Unconsciously I release a huge amount of Holy energy in the air, and I can see Vali's skin begin to burn up from the huge amount of Holy energy. I take a deep breath and disperse the holy energy.

"Do you understand?"

"Yes."

I nod at his answer before suddenly, I remember something.

"Why didn't you use your Juggernauts Drive in the fight against Rias Gremory and Wendy Marvell?"

Wendy Marvell, a member of the Vongola family. One of the fascinating members of the Vongola family. She has dragon slayer magic as her main abilities. However, it was not the only magic she could do. She is also an enchanter and a Healer. She can enchant her body to fight in close combat, and her dragon slayer magic can be used as a long-range attack making her a well-rounded fighter.

"... I don't want to do it."

"Really?"

"Yes. I got ordered by my grandfather to attack Faysummit, to begin with, and I only followed his order because I still want a place in the Khaos Brigade. That is why I didn't kill anyone in the fight."

"But it doesn't matter if you kill anyone or not. Because of you attacking the barrier from the inside, many people die from the fight. Be it from Vongola Family, Devil, Angel, and even our Grigori faction. Lucky for us, the Vongola family has a top-notch healer that can reduce our casualties."

"...."

"I suggest taking away your team from the Khaos Brigade as the other faction will keep an eye for the Khaos Brigade."

"... I will tell them to come here."

"See that you do."

I look at Vali, walking away from my office, and sigh a little. I like him like my own kid, but his impulse to start a fight makes him a bad person for a faction leader like me. Lucky for me, the leader of Vongola still gave me some face and let me handle the punishment of Vali. If it was another faction, he has already killed on the spot, or even worse. He would get tortured.

While I hate to admit it, sometimes, Vali behaves like a member of the Old Satan. They only think about one thing, be it spreading chaos across the world or fighting, and Vali has one of their behavior.

I fear that someday, Vali offended someone that he should not have offended. For example, I didn't want him to offend one of the ten most powerful beings in the world. That would be a disaster. While I can proudly say that I'm a powerful being, I cannot compare myself to those monsters.

I once saw Sirzechs in his true form, and I didn't want to see it the second time.

That ten figure is the one that Grigori cannot fight against. While Vali is his own individual, he is still a member of Grigori, and his actions also reflect Grigori's image, and every enemy he makes will look at Grigori first and then look at him.

I hope that Vali will stop this behavior, or soon he will bite something more than he can chew.
