At that moment, he had a fleeting illusion, thinking that she cared about him.

The car hadn't been driving for long when Sheng Shi suddenly braked sharply and stopped.

"Get out!" Sheng Shi spat out those two words harshly.

Gu Lanshan looked out the window. They were in front of the Shangri-La Hotel. She frowned, turned back to look at Sheng Shi, "Aren't you going home?"

Sheng Shi found the words "going home" extremely ironic. His tone became even more sinister and harsh, "It's just a place to sleep. Why do we have to go home to sleep?"

After saying that, Sheng Shi pushed open the car door and walked straight into the hotel.

Gu Lanshan pursed her lips, unfastened her seatbelt, and followed him inside.

Sheng Shi often stayed here. The top-floor suite was always reserved for him. After entering, the reception staff recognized him. Each greeted him properly with, "Mr. Sheng."

Sheng Shi ignored them, heading straight to the elevator.

Gu Lanshan followed Sheng Shi into the elevator. It was just the two of them inside. The space was very small. Sheng Shi stood in the center, while Gu Lanshan stood in the corner just inside the door.

Sheng Shi turned his head and, through the elevator's mirror, could see Gu Lanshan's delicate profile. He stared at it dazedly for a while.

Once the elevator doors opened, Sheng Shi strode out, and Gu Lanshan quickly followed.

Sheng Shi swiped his card, opened the door, and walked in without paying attention to Gu Lanshan. After entering, he took off his coat and went straight into the bathroom.
