"Hello?" The voice of a woman soon entered Avery's ears, but it took her a while to react. When she finally found her voice to speak.
Stutteringly, she said, "I—is this Aidan's phone?"
The voice replied, "Yes. Oh, are you looking for him? He just entered the shower. Do you want to wait for him to finish?" As soon as these words fell, Avery's heart also thudded heavily in her chest.
A sense of unease washed over her, and for some , she didn't want to find out what was making her feel this way.
"No need. I'll just call him again later." Avery paused and thought of something, before adding, "Can you keep it a secret that I called him?"
"Hm? Well, I won't tell him. But he'll see it if he looks at his call log," the female voice said.
Avery, her gaze fixed dazedly on the floor-to-ceiling window, murmured, "Thank you."
'Toot—'
The call ended abruptly.
