"You are my wife from today on. My job is to keep you safe and always look out for you." Dave ruffled my hair with his hands. He put the hair dryer on the table, my hair was finished and he dried.
I'm just silent, still dumbfounded.
Dave picked up a grocery bag, handed it to me.
"You must not have brought a change of clothes. Wear this, I asked someone to prepare it for you. The size, I don't know if it fits or not."
I hesitantly took the shopping bag in his hand. Dave had stepped back into the kitchen.
"After changing clothes, come here, we will have dinner," he said casually.
I looked at him. Wait! Why is the movement so natural? He does all his work quietly!
Dave looked at me, then looked at the grocery bag in my hand, then at me again.
I finally stepped into the room, still with many questions in my head.
I stretched out the clothes that were in the grocery bag, then put them on. It was a soft white dress, with long sleeves and knee-high. Feels comfortable when worn. I smiled a little.
When I returned to the dining room, Dave had finished preparing dinner. That's the dinner menu prepared by the hotel, actually, I also don't know why Dave looks busy in the kitchen since earlier. We started to enjoy dinner.
Twenty minutes later, we finished dinner. Dave said he was going to take a shower, I nodded. I stretched myself on the sofa, started to turn on the television.
Drrtt....
Drrtt....
Drrtt....
I got up from my sleeping position. Dave's cell phone which was placed on the table vibrated. I picked it up, about to hand it over to Dave.
When opening the bedroom door, Dave wasn't there, instead the sound of dripping water came from the bathroom. Call ends.
When I was about to put it back down, the call came back.
I looked at the phone screen, it was Jack who called. And this time it's a video call. I doubt whether to answer it or not. It shouldn't matter, it's just Jack.
I picked up the call.
Jack's little face appeared first. Then three other faces appeared following. There was a noise on the other end of the phone. As usual, Jack and Tomy, who love to fuss, were fighting over each other's cell phones. I chuckled.
"Little girl, have you got Dave's cell phone now?" Jack said excitedly on the other side. Right now he was holding the phone, his face closest to the camera. Tommy beside him was trying to grab him, while Brian and Harry seemed to be enjoying the fight in front of them.
"He's in the shower, his cell phone vibrates too much." I answered short.
"He's taking a shower? And you're showering?" This time, the excited Brian answered. Jack looks annoyed that the cell phone in his hand is forcibly snatched.
I bear steady in response. They then started shouting on the other side. I looked at them clueless.
"If you don't have anything important to say, I'll hang up. I'm busy." I was ready to press the button to end the call.
"Hei, hei, little girl, I admit sometimes your words can be a little cruel. But okay, we get it. We were just kidding a little, continue your evening. You have to be patient a little while waiting for Dave to shower, he has a bad habit of showering. And I hope you have fun." Brian said happily on the other side.
She insists on asking Jack to hang up the call, while Jack doesn't take it in annoyance, wanting to chat with me again. But of course, Brian won. Call disconnected.
I stared at the darkened phone screen, placing it back on the table.
An hour later.
Brian was right, Dave had a long shower. He came out in his towel pajamas and wet hair. I know, today, we have officially become husband and wife. I also know, this is our first night after doing a long wedding ceremony.
It should and should be for many people, tonight will be their special night. and even though it was for us, especially me, who had warned Dave from the moment we entered the hotel room, that he shouldn't do things to me without my consent.
But, right now, look at him. Dave was casually wearing only his bathing pajamas, which exposed part of his broad chest and muscular stomach peeking out of his open towel. There's a tattoo on one side of her stomach, I'm sure it's a word, but it's not clearly visible because only a quarter of the whole thing is visible.
He ruffled his wet hair with his fingers.
At first, I was intently watching a movie on the television screen, turning my gaze focused on Dave.
He walked closer to me. I didn't take my eyes off him even for a moment. I held my breath, also holding myself from screaming at the sight.
Dave looked down, then took the hair dryer on the table. He started to dry his hair. Really handsome. Otherwise, I really wanted to tell him that.
"Not satisfied to see?" Dave asked me. He was still busy drying his hair. I came to my senses, then quickly took my eyes off him.
Until a few minutes later, Dave had finished drying his hair.
I looked up, caught a glimpse of him. He looked at me, I could feel it.
Dave took a seat next to me, making me stare at him. He started to move closer to me slowly. I held my breath.
The smell of chocolate from her hair became clearer as he moved closer. Our faces were only inches apart.
Dave looked at me deeply, I could feel his breath. I covered my mouth with both hands as he started moving again.
Five seconds.
I don't feel anything.
Dave didn't kiss me like I thought. He chuckled beside my ear, then grabbed something behind me with one hand. I opened my eyes slowly.
Dave was standing with another grocery bag in his hand. I looked down, trying to hide my blushing face. Dave smiled—I'm sure he did, it sounded small.
Dave put the bag in his hand on the table, then looked down. Our faces are now parallel. Dave lifted my chin gently, forcing me to look at him. He smiled mischievously.
"Why close your eyes Lily? Are you waiting for something?" Dave said quietly, his voice deep. He kissed my lips with his thumb, softly.
I fell silent. Dave's black eyes look even more beautiful when viewed from this close distance. I looked at his wet pink lips, for a man's size, his lips belong to the beautiful category. There was a faint minty scent as Dave opened his mouth. Our distance grew closer, a fraction of a second before our lips touched.
TING!
An incoming message brought me back to my senses. I was shocked, suddenly stood up from my previous position. I took my phone awkwardly. Dave scratched the back of his head non-itchy.
"How to conquer a husband on..." I threw my phone away instantly. Oh shit, Jessie.
"W-what's wrong?" Dave asked, stammering a little. I waved my hand in response. I looked at Dave in surprise at a glance, why is he also awkward?
I stepped into the kitchen, looking for a drink of water. Dave might have seen my face flush with embarrassment. When I looked at the sofa, Dave had turned around, carrying a bag in his hand. It looks like a change of clothes.
I waved my hand, exhaling roughly. Oh, holding back in front of a handsome man is not an easy thing. I should control myself better next time.
