"What did you think?" Nina spat in hatred, "You will run away with my son, and I won't do a thing? I'll just look at you while you keep playing with my emotions? How gullible you are, Sheila?" her hand was slowly brushing Alex's back, and his cheek was leaning on Nina's shoulder.
"Sheila! You don't want to live there? Fine! Go ahead and never come back. Next time you come close to my son, and I'll make sure, you bear the consequences," she warned Sheila coldly.
Sheila wanted to scream. She wanted to tell the woman to keep her hands off her son. But then she realized something.
Maybe Alex was safe with Nina. Maybe she needed to focus on her other child and ensure that he or she would stay safe.
The mere thought of keeping Alex away from her brought pain to her chest and anguish to her eyes.
