Luis Lane stopped at the entrance of S.T.A.R Labs.
She turned around to give him a confident smile.
The determined and bold look on her face was unmistakable, "No, reporters can get in too."
She led Clark around to the back of the building, where a small door stood along a narrow asphalt pathway.
They ducked into the bushes used for landscaping, hiding behind the shrubs.
Clark, with his long arms and legs, awkwardly crouched down behind the bushes and whispered, "What are we doing here? Shouldn't we be over there listening to Lex Luthor's speech?"
Luis Lane pressed her lips into a straight line, "There's no point in wasting time listening to his lies. We just need to be patient."
Her eyes fixed on the closed iron door, "I've been watching. Every hour and a half, a janitor comes out to take out the trash. He's got an employee badge. Once he dumps the trash and takes a break, we'll grab his badge and sneak inside."
Clark furrowed his brow, clearly uncomfortable with the plan, "But why do you need to get inside?"
Luis Lane let out a light snort through her nose and glanced at Clark, "This is why you're still far from becoming a real reporter, Smallville boy. I got a tip from an insider—Lex Luthor's satellite project isn't as simple as it seems. He's working with S.T.A.R Labs on something else, some kind of secret device... I couldn't get any details, so we need to sneak inside the lab to find out."
Clark raised his right eyebrow and turned his head, activating his X-ray vision to peer into the lab building.
Everything inside the building unfolded before him in clear detail.
He could see every structure of the building, even the steel beams between the floors.
He scanned the building from top to bottom, seeing various high-tech labs and scientific equipment.
When his x-ray vision reached the elevator slowly descending from the fourth floor to the third, he paused.
Inside, he saw Soren, who was fumbling through his backpack with a serious expression on his face.
So cute.
Clark couldn't help but smile softly, watching as Soren safely reached the first-floor lobby and walked out of the elevator.
Clark's gaze followed him until it stopped at the center of the lobby.
That's when Clark noticed something underneath the lobby—a sprawling underground complex.
He focused his attention on the underground space, studying every room and piece of equipment.
There were many strange, artificial devices down there, and just as he was about to take a closer look, Luis Lane gasped beside him, "What is that?"
Clark quickly snapped out of it and saw Luis Lane staring up at the sky, her hand covering her mouth in shock.
He followed her gaze upward—
In the clear northwest sky, a giant, blazing golden fireball was growing larger and speeding directly toward them.
Luis Lane only heard the young reporter next to her mumble, "I'm going to the bathroom," before he disappeared like a gust of wind.
The spot where he stood was now empty.
She looked around in confusion, trying to spot him, "Clark Kent?!"
...
The small-town boy she was looking for was already shooting through the sky like a missile.
The enormous golden fireball blazed, streaking across the sky like a falling star.
Clark soared upward, getting closer and closer to the fireball.
As it became clearer in his vision, he could make out a figure within the flames—a massive, muscular figure with wild black hair, riding a motorcycle shaped like a boat, laughing madly as he barreled toward him!
Clark: "Please stop, you're going to hurt the people on the ground."
The monster saw him and shouted with excitement, "A flying Kryptonian? Hahaha, I've finally found you!"
He didn't slow down at all; instead, he charged straight at Clark.
Just as the creature was about to hit him, only an inch from his face, Clark swung his fist!
His punch, carrying the strength of tens of tons, smashed into the front of the creature's vehicle with a thunderous explosion.
The flames surrounding the monster roared even higher, and the blazing fire engulfed Clark's body in an instant.
Through the raging fire, Clark braced both arms against the motorcycle, stopping it from crashing into the ground.
The creature leaped off the bike, stretching out two thick, muscled arms, trying to grab Clark's throat.
Clark blocked the move with a quick counter, and the two of them began to wrestle mid-air.
To Clark's surprise, this creature had an incredible healing ability.
Each punch Clark landed on his face caused the bones to crack, but within seconds, the crushed parts healed back to normal.
Clark's immense power didn't seem to slow him down; instead, it only fueled the creature's eagerness to fight.
They started exchanging punches, each impact sending powerful shockwaves, causing the air around them to ripple and crackle.
The battle raged from the sky down to the ground.
Meanwhile, the burning motorcycle that was abandoned by that creature, plummeted from above, and hurtled toward the towering S.T.A.R. Labs building!
With a deafening crash, the bike slammed into the building, smashing a blackened hole through the 30th floor.
The glass shattered and exploded everywhere, fire erupted, and dust billowed out.
Clark and the creature crashed into the ground right after, their massive bodies creating a giant crater in front of S.T.A.R. Labs.
The earth shook, and the impact sent shockwaves through the plaza, cracking the surface all the way to the building.
Amidst the chaos, smoke rose like thick clouds.
Clark's clothes had been torn apart in the brutal fight, revealing his strong, muscular frame beneath.
Clark stood up and used his super hearing to quickly scan the area for any sounds of danger.
In just a few milliseconds, he confirmed that no one had been hurt in the accident.
He straightened up and faced the creature directly, "Who are you? Why are you here?"
