Max is exhausted from having to care for Amanda all night, but he must return home because of an improvement in her condition. He is also somewhat less anxious because Amanda promised to go to work tomorrow and to live a better life, even though this is a difficult matter.
After taking a shower, he ate the food that was already on the dining room table because he was starving. He had been taking good care of Amanda, but he had neglected himself.
"How is she doing?" Adrian questioned Max, who was preparing to eat, about Amanda as he poured water into a glass.
"It appears that I can still rely on you, and you also take good care of my penthouse, so thank you for the doctor you sent. It's getting a little better."
Adrian scowled at Max's apparent sincerity in his thanks. "Can you repeat what you said so I can capture it on my cell phone?"
The corners of Max's eyes drooped, showing that he wasn't in the mood for jokes, and his face tensed.
