chapter 28

Evita's pov

"Well duh it's obvious you ex wife kidnaped him so that she wins the case," i shrugged. I mean it's very obvious.

"That's a very serious accusation to make." Killian said.

"It is but there's a high chance its true. She came all of a sudden for custody. And on the day of the hearing, your lawyer went MIA. No phone calls no text nothing. She wants the custody so bad and stooped so low and will stoop lower" I stated. I saw an angry scowl slowly form on his face as he took in what i had just said. His expression went back to normal in less than 5 seconds.

"No, Joan isn't like that. She can't do something like that. " he said and I knew he was in denial.

"Listen i don't know how things were between you two but I know that she wants the kids and for her to sue you to court, it means she can go to any length. Maybe she needs money urgently. Or her company is going bankrupt and she's looking for quick means to-"

"Miss valkov she is not like that. Think of something else" he yelled. I was taken aback but shook it off. I know its her. I'm very sure of it.

"I just wanted to help but okay" i said nodding my head.

"You are not helping....only making things more complicated." He said rubbing his fore head with his palm and sighing.

"Okay I guess we'll wait for rolland to get here then" i said smiling. He nodded in response.

"I should go to my office or?...." I said

"There's no need for that. Stay right here where I can watch you." He said picking up a black file and dropping it in his opened drawer.

"Why do you need to watch me? I can't run away without you knowing " I said genuinely confused.

"Its not because i think you'll run away, it's beacuse I dont trust you to not get kidnapped from under my nose Again. So you have to stay right here" he explained as he arranged his desk. Most of the files that he was throwing in his drawer, are supposed to be in the locker or safe. He's the boss yet he can't organise his things properly. I giggled at the thought.

"What's funny? You getting kidnapped is funny to you? Really?" Killian attacked me.

"What is wrong with you? Why are you taking everything so personal. And no It's nothing funny" I yelled back and stormed into my office making sure to slam the door really hard. I know i said i wouldn't involve myself in anything personal but he called me to help. And im try ing to help yet he's yelling as if i did some thing bad. It's not my fault his ex is trying to take the twins from him and probably kidnaped his lawyer. I sighed as i dropped on my chair. This place was cleaner than i had expected. I dont know why I was expecting a dusty room with cobwebs. I snickered at that foolish thought. Okay what should I do now? "What would i do if i didn't like killian and saw him as just a boss?" I asked my self. Hmmmm...

"I would try to provide a possible solution and if he refuses, I'll leave him to do what he wants." I answered after few seconds. I think this is working. Okay next question.

"What is the possible solution to the problem at hand?" I asked again.

"I have no idea......."I sighed and stood up. All of a sudden, i felt hot and the office felt stuffy. I got out of the office as quick as possible. Immediately i stepped out, my eyes locked with killian's. He had a blank expression on his face and j rose my brow at him.

"Rolland will be here soon" he said breaking the silence.

"What? You called him? He's on a date with Rosie, you must have ruined it. Why did you call him? " Rosie was really excited for the date. I can't believe he ruined it.

"No j didnt ruin it, he said the lawyer called him. He's refused to tell me what's going on, insists he'll talk once he gets here" killian answered.

"Oh- then your MIA lawyer ruined it. What is wrong with you people?" I'm so tired of them.

"Don't talk to me like that ....im Your boss not a co worker" he said.

"Of course...thanks for the reminder sir" i plastered a fake smile on my face before leaving his office.

"Where do you think you are going? " he yelled out but I ignored him. I cannot deal with him right now. I decided to go for a stroll around the company building. There are some places I haven't been to and some people I dont know but they know me since I'm killians P.A.

I walked out of the elevator and into the floor directly below killian's office. Workers were busy taking calls and customer's complaints. I stood by the corner as i watched them steal glances at me and whisper amongst themselves. Don't they know i can see and hear them whispering or are they just doing it to annoy me? I stood for about a minute without saying anything and left them alone. I got back into the elevator and pressed the next button. This kept going for the next 3 floors. And on the 4th one, i grew tired and went back to killian's office.

On getting there, i couldn't find killian anywhere even in my office. There was no sign of him leaving or anyone coming in. I tried his number but he wasn't answering. I went back outside and the secretary isn't there too. I then decided to call rolland and he wasn't answering either. Are they kidding me? Killian called me here to ask for help and he left to find the lawyer without me?. I dialed rosie's number last. She was the only hope I had left.

"Yes they left without you baby, go back home" she said immediately she answered the call. Oh my gosh this is unbelievable.

"Arrggghhhhh" I yelled.

"Chill girl, you didn't have your date shortened did you? I should be the most upset here" she said in a sassy tone but she's right.

"I'm sorry" i said.

"Yeah it's fine" she said in reply.

"So do you know where they went to?" I asked her with fingers crossed that she does.

"Yes" she said. I sighed in relief

"So tell me" i urged her.

"No im not telling you nothing. Go back home vy" she said and hung up.

"But why is no one tel ling me any thing....That's unfair " I whined. I guess i do have to go home now.

Killian's pov

The doors of my office flung open. At first I thought it was evita but it was rolland instead.

"Did you fly down here? How did you reach here so fast? "I joked but he wasn't in the mood. He didnt even smile. I cleared my throat and adjusted in my seat.

"What's going on?" I asked him.

"He called. He was kidnaped by someone. And he/she requests to see you if we want him alive. They sent the address . But im not sure this is all a setup to kidnap us in his stead. "Rolland said all at once. I sighed and rested my back on my chair to think of what to do.

"I think we should go meet him or her. But make sure to alert the men and send them our live location and where we are headed. " I answer making my way to my elevator, rolland following behind me.

After about 2 hours of driving, we finally got to the location. It was an old abandoned warehouse. We both got out of the car and rolland called the person. After a few tries, the man picked up.

"I see you " he said. I let my eyes roam the place to see if i can find any body. But there was no sign of life.

"Go into the warehouse, the boss is waiting there " he said after few seconds.

I shared a look with rolland before opening the door. The house was dimly lit and dusty. It had lots of boxes and burnt machines sitting around. Lanterns were placed on the ground so we followed it as a path. We got to the end and I saw miles tied up and gagged. I tapped rolland and pointed to where miles was. We both walked towards him. Rolland removed the cloth in his mouth, while I kept looking around.

"Sir, you are not supposed to be here" miles said.

"Its some kind of setup, she will trick you int- " before he could finish his statement, he began to choke and after a while, he died. What is going on? Who is doing this?

"I think its Joan" rolland said.

"Why do you think so?" I asked him, why does every one think of her as an evil being.

"Look" rolland said drawing my attention to a writing on a box.

"Its been a while killy baby" it read.

"It is joan" I said. They were both right.

"But why is she doing this? " I asked rolland.

"I have no idea" he whispered.

"Show yourself joan" I yelled out. I'm tired of this hide and seek game she's playing.

"Stop hiding and come face me"

"Who says i'm hiding?" Joan said walking in. My eyes connected with her bright amber eyes. Her red hair bouncing behind her as she walked towards us. She was in a black jumpsuit, which is so unlike her. She hated the colour black and jumpsuits too.

" hey baby" her sweet voice which once made my insides jump in joy , now made them crawl and shrink.

"What happened to you? You look different" rolland said.

"Awwn the loyal dog is here too" she replied.

"What do you want Joan?" I cut to the chase.

"You are no fun. Well, You know exactly what i want baby" she said.

"No i don't, if you want the kids lets meet in court." I answered her.

"Kids?" She said bursting out in laughter.

"I dont want children , i already have enough problems on my hand. I want your properties, your wealth and money" she yelled.

"And you think we will just hand it over to you? How gullible can a person be" Rolland said.

"Oh shut up dog.. I know you wouldn't just hand it over to me. Although I suggest you do if you don't want to lose all the kids. Including the one you had with your assistant" she said. My blood ran cold and my vision became blurry which caused me to almost lose my stance. Every breath I took was like heavy rocks were being stacked on my chest.

"Don't you dare lay a finger on the kids. I never knew you could be this disgusting." I said. I hope Sebastian can hear all this so he keeps all of them in a safe place.

"I'm right here so how will I touch them? One of your men is in cahoots with me. He already has the kids with him. Jayden kayden and lilly." She said parading the room we were in. Beads of sweat now formed on my forehead and some trickled down my back.

"I dont believe you" I said.

"I thought you'd say that" she said and removed a phone from her pocket and stretched it to me

"See for yourself then " I collected the phone from her and played the video on the screen. The children, they were in a room secured by guards. They sat by the corner of the bed, curled up, holding each other tight. The fear and terror visible in their eyes. I flung the phone and pounced on her. Pinning her to the wall, i yelled.

"Joan leave the children out of this. I swear to God if as much as a strand of hair goes missing from their head, I'll make sure you regret it. " I said strangling her.

"Let me go...If my men dont hear from me in the next one hour, they will kill them" she managed to say in a hoarse voice. I let her go and she plopped down to the ground coughing.

"Where are they?" I asked her.

"They are at jennie's. it's very far from here so even if you kill me and go in search of them, you won't be able to get there in an hour" she smirked. Jennie's is an hotel about 2 hours away from here and few minutes away from my house.I sighed and turned to face her.

" just let them go. I'll do as you want"

Evita's pov

Its been more than an hour since killian left to find the lawyer and I still haven't heard from him. But that is the second thing on my mind. The main problem is I can't find the kids anywhere. I already asked the maids and butler but they have no idea where they are. Suddenly, i remembered that I had given lilly a necklace to wear at all time. It has a tracking device in it. I made my way down the stairs of the underground room i previously found. Sebastian should be able to track them. It didnt take long before I found him. I explained everything to him and they began looking for them. I also got to know that they've been unable to track killian and rolland for some time now. It seems that the signal was cut out.

"Who ever is doing this, knew that we'd be listening and be very aware of their location. They must be behind the kidnap too" sebestian said

" Joan. She kidnap the kids to use as a blackmail against killian. She wants his properties" I mumured to myself.

"We've found the kids. They are at jennie's lounge" another man said.

" Gather at least 20 men ...we don't know how many people are guarding them." Sebastian ordered and started going upstairs back into the house. I followed him. As we got to the door, he turned around and stopped me.

"You have to stay here ma'am. We'll go get the kids. Don't worry Everything Will be fine" he said

"No j can't stay here, how will I know things are going well if I stay here?" I asked trying to escape from his grip.

"You can't come with us, you'll slow us down. Please try to understand"He said and i sighed.

"Okay. Bring them back home safely please " I pleaded with him.

"Yes i will ma'am. Stay here and you can keep trying killian's line".he said before leaving.

I prayed silently as i watched the vans leave through the gate. I hope things go well.

After few seconds, i went back to my room and began dialing killian's phone like crazy.
