Yuan Yuan's heart pounded in her chest as she knelt before Mr. Qin, her eyes brimming with false tears.
She knew this was her only chance to salvage the situation, to plead for forgiveness in a world where redemption seemed like a distant dream.
She had to play her part convincingly, to beg and grovel until Mr. Qin relented, or at least until he saw fit to spare her from his wrath.
"Mr. Qin, I... I am so sorry," she whimpered, her voice trembling with feigned remorse. "Please forgive me. I didn't mean to... I can do anything to gain your forgiveness."
The room fell into an eerie silence as Mr. Qin regarded her with cold scrutiny. He seemed unmoved by her display of contrition, his expression unreadable as he dropped the drink he held in his hand.
Yuan Yuan's heart sank at the sight, but she refused to let despair consume her.
