Whilst investigating the death of a local gardener, a friendly lawyer called Vahn Mason uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, bendy sausage circulating throughout Devon. As soon as anyone uses the sausage, he or she has exactly 230 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look zombified. A marked person feels like a wide guppy to touch.
Vahn gets hold of the sausage, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a sunny mouse balancing on a sloppy gardener, an old newspaper headline about a hit and run accident, a hooded cat ranting about thighs and a drinking well located in a chilly place.
When Vahn notices his eyebrows have guppy-like properties, he realises that the curse of the bendy sausage is true and calls in his lover, a nurse called Einlion Left Foot, to help.
Einlion examines the sausage and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the sunny mouse balancing on a sloppy gardener particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Vahn and Einlion pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded cat. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
