More Than Invincible

It's that old story: a boy is transmigrated, gains powers and has to fulfill a mission. But this time, not everything is as it seems. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nothing in this story belongs to me, except for my original characters. So remember: if you recognize it, bingo! It's not mine.

New Life

When he woke up, Lucas found himself in an ordinary room with band posters on the walls. From the window he could see the streets outside.

He was in an apartment, most likely in a city in the United States of America. A city he didn't know.

Then the memories came back. First the memories of his past life, his death, his reincarnation and his mission in this world. Then the memories of this life.

Lucas Moura-Miller. In this life he was the son of an American father and a Brazilian mother, who apparently followed the Brazilian tradition of giving their son two surnames.

He was now a relatively successful young programmer. Apparently, he had just gotten a home-office job that paid even better than his previous brick-and-mortar job.

He wasn't rich, but he seemed to be making enough to live in New York. A very different version of the city, in a different universe, but still New York.

The show never made it clear exactly where most of the events took place, but there were very good guesses that the city in the show was either Chicago or New York. Of course, that wouldn't make much of a difference since most of the main characters could fly, some of them at supersonic speeds, and could get anywhere in the blink of an eye.

Suddenly, an acute headache hit him. Various pieces of information lodged in his mind.

Soon he found himself in a large ancient library. Instinctively he knew that this was his mind palace. Probably a security measure to make sure that his mind didn't collapse with knowledge or even forget it.

Back in his room, he had to sit on his bed and think about everything he had just received.

The knowledge was like an avalanche and made him feel a little disoriented. But it made him very excited about the possibilities for the future.

He had received four very good wishes. He wouldn't be invincible right away, but in time, he would be more than that.

Because of his Proto-Adamantium skeleton, his body felt much heavier. But because of that, he was sure that his body was very strong compared to an ordinary human.

With his new knowledge of ki manipulation, he soon began to feel his own ki inside. It wasn't much, but he knew the potential of this energy.

In the Dragon Ball anime, the characters used Ki very rudely, few used it in a really versatile way. But the possibility was there. From its use in fighting with bursts of ki, to its use in sealing techniques, magic and various other uses, ki itself was very versatile. He was sure that its uses were even more incredible than anything that had been shown in all the Dragon Ball media.

Soon, he would have to find a suitable place to train. He wished he had wanted the knowledge of martial arts from Dragon Ball and other anime, but the ability to evolve beyond his own limits was too tempting for him not to ask for it.

With the new knowledge being absorbed into his mind at a fairly rapid rate, he soon tried to sense his surroundings through Ki. This was a prime ability in Dragon Ball, having the extra sense with Ki was like being able to see long distances and 360°.

Soon, his entire room began to enter his senses, even with his eyes closed. Every piece of clothing, every poster, every speck of dust, until his desk appeared in his mind. On it was a small package wrapped in gift paper.

He opened his eyes quickly and took the package curiously. This was something that wasn't in his memories of this life. And he lived alone, so it was impossible that someone had put it there.

On top of the package was a small note, which he strongly suspected was from the same being that had sent him to this world.

When he read it, his eyes widened slightly.

"Greetings, young Lucas. We find your potential very encouraging and would like to give you a small gift that will help you in your mission, we have made some changes that will help you. It probably won't work on other people, but it will be a great help on your journey!

When he opened the package, he was very happy. It was something he had considered wishing for, but its importance in the grand scheme of things would be so small that he didn't think it was worth spending a wish on it.

"A scouter from Frieza's forces! That will help me keep track of my progress very easily."

He quickly tried to use the Scouter. On the side, on the part that was attached to his ear, there was a red button. As well as a few other smaller buttons, probably to use different functions.

When he clicked the red button, the device immediately turned on. Numbers and letters appeared on the small screen, much to Lucas' relief, all in modern English.

It had four basic functions: tracking, combat power meter, interstellar communication, and an extra function, probably the modification the creature that sent it said it had made, which was the ability to connect to data networks like the Internet, or any alien equivalent, as long as wireless networks were used.

It was basically a powerful computer in miniature. It also responded to voice commands to make it easier to use data networks.

The first feature Lucas wanted to test was the combat power meter. He wanted to know how he stacked up against the anime characters.

With a beep, the scouter began to measure his combat strength, and in a few seconds he had the answer: 12.

"What? I expected it to be low, but I didn't expect it to be this low."

He had not considered the possibility of such a low start.

"Well, considering that Goku had only 10 fighting power in his first appearance and could already lift a small car, 12 is not too bad. But considering the weight of my skeleton, my strength shouldn't be that much higher than an ordinary human." As far as he knew, he could weigh between 300 and 400 kilograms.

This meant that training was an urgent priority. Becoming strong enough so that his own body weight wouldn't be an obstacle was paramount.

He needed a suitable place to train. But before that, he needed to gather basic information about the world he found himself in.

According to the memories of his new body, he was in the middle of 2019. He should have arrived in this world 2 years before the main events, which meant that the events of the show would take place in 2021, the same year the show started in his first life.

From his memories, he can recall basic information about the world and society. Things like villains, superheroes, and natural disasters were not that rare. In his old life, he would have only heard about disasters in the newspapers, but here, something like that could happen at any time. At least real estate prices were much lower than in his first life. Insurance, on the other hand, was absurdly expensive.

But there was one thing he could remember that really cheered him up. Social networks were different. Sure, there were equivalents, but they weren't the same. The good news for him was that there were no social networks like Tiktok yet. Some might go that way, but they weren't there yet.

In his old life, it was certainly one of the most successful social networks. If he could develop something similar here, with a similar algorithm, success would be guaranteed. As a programmer, the only stumbling block would be getting the servers and a team to manage the platform. But as long as he could make it a success, he would have plenty of money for those things.

But the main priority was still to become strong. Any other venture he could think of would have to wait for a while.

Before he could continue his thoughts, his stomach decided to protest. The rumbling of hunger ripped him out of his reverie and woke him up to real life.

Knowing that there was no ready-made food at home, he could take the opportunity to go out and eat fast food while he got a feel for this new world.
