Final destination

It seemed like they walked for forever until the smell of roasted meat assailed her nostrils.

For the main table at dinner later, a baby hippo was being roasted over a huge fire pit.

A young lad sweating profusely stood diligently stoking the fire and occasionally turning the baby hippo so that it was evenly cooked and inside meat wouldn't be raw.

Even though in her opinion the walk made it seem like it was far enough to be located in the outer bailey.

The Kitchen could be found in a separate building in the inner bailey.

It was the furthest away from the main dormitory because they considered it a fire hazard. 

In the event of a fire, they wanted to make sure that even if wind was blowing profusely the fire would not spread to other nearby buildings.

The distance would make it easier for the kitchen fire to be contained.
