Chapter 23

"Hey! How'd it go?" Fira was quick to hug Skyler the minute he returned.

The kids had slept off in the living room and she had decided to nap but she couldn't sleep.

The look on Skyler's face told enough. He wasn't happy.

"Not like I expected...." Fira could feel her heartbeat accelerate.

"Hey." He raised her chin. "You're safe okay?" She nodded gingerly.

"Were you able to watch his favorite show with him?" He turned to sleep, Miguel.

" No. He wouldn't watch it without you". Skyler raised an eyebrow.

" I know. He's become very attached to you and that's not good". Skyler stared at Fira skeptically.

" Let's talk in your room."

Skyler nodded and carried Miguel in his arms. The boy on scenting him smiled and cuddled up closer. This caused Skyler to smile widely. Whatever Fira was about to decide, if it included losing them, he wasn't having it.
