Moonlit Betrayal: A Luna’s Choice

“I, Edwina Streak-Ridge of formerly of Silverstreak Pack…” spoke Edwina. Aaron knew what was coming. “No, no, stop! You cannot.” But Edwina ignored him. “…adopted daughter of Everridge Hounds, reject you, Aaron Silvermaw, the Lycan Prince as my mate,” shouted Edwina, tears streaming down her face. A bright light escaped Edwina’s chest and she fell to her knees clenching her chest to ease the pain. Aaron stood before her completely frozen, perplexed. He couldn’t believe what Edwina just said. She was his true love. How could she reject him and why? “Why? Why? Tell me what my fault is?” begged Aaron. Edwina wiped her tears, stood up and simply walked away from him. ***** Edwina was adopted by Alpha and Luna of Everridge Hounds after her parent were killed in a rogue attack. She is not an ordinary wolf, she is the wolf blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. She gave her ‘glow’ to Edwina. Everything was fine in her life, she was the most loved, and everyone thought she would be the best Luna but she rejected Aaron and went away from her wolf life. She returned the day her Aaron was about to be engaged to another she-wolf. It broke her heart. But why did she feel bad? She already rejected Aaron. He was free to choose a chosen mate. He was free to live his life his own way.

The Dangerous Times

The moon was shining at its brightest as the feast dwindled. Food was over, drinks were spilt, and the guests began to retire to their rooms. Remnants of joyous celebration were left behind. Ulfur and Aaron kept staring at each other and moved towards their own rooms. Edwina walked with Valenthia and Bardolph to rest.

Almost everyone was gone. Just a few workers were cleaning the garden area. Ariadne was standing near a tree staring at the moon.

"I know," said Andre, softly holding her hand.

"What?" asked Ariadne. That broke her concentration.

"You were thinking that everything today was… a lot," smiled Andre.

Ariadne smiled at him and placed her head on his shoulder. "Right! Now you can hear my thoughts."

"Yes, dear, and you are right. Today was something else and we made it till now, together," said Andre.

"You are so right," said Ariadne. Andre sweetly kissed her hair.

"You seem to like the moon," said Andre.
