The wind rushed past me, my hair whipping around my face as we soared through the skies. El-Kharis held me close, his arm wrapped securely around my waist, his body tense and steady as we cut through the air. Below us, Leon, Adrian, and Rowland rode on horseback, unable to fly as we did, but keeping pace nonetheless. Their figures looked small from this height, but I could sense their focus, their determination to stay with us.
I leaned in closer to El-Kharis, his warmth radiating through the cold wind. "I want to see my kingdom," I whispered into his ear, my voice barely audible above the gusts of wind. "Now that we're back on Earth… I need to see what's become of Ashbury."
