The Maiden and the Black Cats

One night, when the moon shines half-bright, deep in the woods, a maiden struggles on running away from the chasing enemies.

Jomin parked his car near a vending machine. The place was near the woods. He came out of his car and make his way to the vending machine to buy a drink.

"Let's see.... ah this one will do," he said inserting his coin into the vending machine.

"Clank", soda can cola came out of the machine. He picked it up and opened it. He was about to take a drink of it when he heard a loud cry that pierces the silence of the place.

"Aaaahh!" It came from the woods as he glanced and the voice seems it came from a maiden.

He flinched for a moment, sharping his ears, and glued his eyes in observing the woods. He thought that maybe the maiden was chased by a molester and needed help.

When he saw a shadow, he then rushed to help the struggling maiden as soon as possible.

"Squish, squish, squish!" said the noise of his footsteps as he continues to walk along the path with withered leaves.

"Hello? Anybody here?" He asked as he searched in and around.

"...who's there?" A tiny voice spoke and she seemed to be enduring pain. She was hurt. Jomin followed the voice and then found the maiden.

He was surprised to see a young beautiful maiden, looking so enchanted in the very late night under the bright half-moon. It made his heart almost flutter. But she was wrapped by some thorny vines, he quickly stopped his stupid thoughts then hurriedly help and took off the thorny vines.

"Ow!.." cried the maiden

"uh sorry.. ah.. here you go," he said. "What happened? What are you doing here in the middle of the night?"

The maiden hesitates to answer.

"Are you alright miss? Are you being chased by molesters? Tell me, I can help you" he insisted. "I can fight them for you if I can. Where are they?"

The maiden stared at him straight in the eye and didn't answer still. He flinched again and blushed for a few seconds even though the maiden looked so serious, he was also a bit nervous.

He never knows what kind of problem this maiden was facing in the middle of the night in the middle of the woods.

"Grrr..." a creature growls from a distance.

Both of them were startled by the growling sounds that are coming close towards them.

"What was that?" He asked with no idea of what's going on around.

"Go and hide," said the maiden as she pushes him away to hide in the bushes.

"Wha--wait a minute!" He said as he was pushed down with no choice, being too late to stop her.

As the maiden moves her way towards the growling sound, to make itself ready, Jomin took a glance at her eyes in which changed into a completely different eye.

"Her eyes...her eyes look so different! Who is this being?!" he thought in a surprised manner.

Hiding by the bushes he looked closely towards the maiden. Suddenly, two big cat ears popped up from the head of the maiden.

"!?!" He exclaimed silently.

It was too impossible to believe it with his two eyes that he almost jumped freaking out! He thought of thinking to escape but he just can't.

A group of unknown creatures then arrived trying to surround the maiden trapping her in to avoid escaping. The black cats.

"Who the hell are they!?" He thought.

He kept himself hidden until his help is needed at the right time because he felt that the consequences which are happening in front of him is not his business, is supposed to be just between them and the maiden.

"Dash--!" Comes the attack of the black cats to the maiden!

She avoided the first attack, then another attack. She tried to fight back but was too weak to muster the strength.

A sudden attack sneakily came towards her back! Before it reaches her, Jomin who was watching by the bushes and ready, hurriedly rushed towards her and then--

"SLASH---!"

Blood spilled down the ground, Jomin protecting the maiden obtained a deep cut behind his back. It happened so fast that the maiden was surprised by his actions.

Jomin fell to his knees on the ground in front of the maiden and he was in deep pain. He was truly overwhelmed with the cut behind his back. It was very painful and he could almost hardly breathe.

"Ha! What's a mere human doing here?! Trying to protect you ?! Bah!" Snarled one of the black cats who made the attack.

"There's nothing much to do, now RUN!" He said to her while feeling the pain behind his back.

"Why did--?!" Shocked as she spoke. She was speechless and felt the concern and pain of the man who tried to protect her from them. Tears fall from her eyes to her cheeks. She didn't know the reason why her tears came out but she seems to hear a call within that suddenly triggered the power in herself from the moon. She felt a sudden connection.

Slowly before the powerfully triggered, she placed Jomin on the ground and stood up glaring very angry at his enemies.

"How dare you hurt him!" She said with anger. "I will not forgive you!"

Jomin was about to close his eyes when something unexpected happens.

From the forehead of the maiden, a crescent and full moon mark appeared and glowed. The wind starts to blow hard.

In the middle of the night, where the half-moon shines, the woods which was dark, glowed.

"Gwahhhh!" Screamed the black cats very painfully.

"Kikikkik kikik" out came the bats flying away from the woods. Then everything was silent.

Jomin who stayed low by the ground injured can't believe what he has witnessed.

"It's so confusing...I don't know already..." he thought, trying to sit back on his own now weak body. Before he could barely stand, the maiden went to him.

"I hope that all of this is just a bad dream"

Then the maiden kissed him on the forehead gently.

"...Thank you..." she whispered.

"I-i.." he tried to say something and completely blushed, but then fell into sleeping.

'I feel so weak, why did I help her in the first place?..'
