Chapter 37: The Royal Library

Alon looked at the two horns protruding out of Tess' head.

She was hiding her true identity when she was traveling across the Human continent.

"Where are we?" Alon asked curiously.

"Hehe, this is where Tess lives, she's a princess," Dari said with a smile on her face.

"Oh." Alon did not have much of a reaction, "Guys we will rest here for today and move tomorrow morning."

He said to his companions on this journey.

"Where are you headed to?" Kabi asked.

"To meet someone important," Alon smiled and said.

"Huh?" Kabi made a puzzled expression at Alon's answer.

"Is there someone more important than your dad here?" Kabi asked in confusion.

Tess shook her head in denial.

"Huh?" Alon made a confused expression.

"Her father is the Duke of this continent." One of the girls which Alon had rescued let out.

"Huh?"

Not only Alon but all of his companions made a dumbfounded expression.

"Then how did you end up in that situation?" Alon asked remembering the events that had transpired in the not-so-distant past.

"Our little princess sneaked away from the palace with a bunch of guards and one of them happened to be a spy, rest you already know."

A young man walked over to them.

"Teacher," Alon called out while bowing.

"Hey, don't embarrass me like that. I didn't even teach you for two days." The young man said while furiously swinging his head in denial of the title.

He had a bad memory of that time.

"A teacher for a day is a teacher for life, teacher," Alon said and bowed once again.

The young man's chest expanded a bit in pride, even if he didn't do it knowingly.

He knew he was unworthy to be a teacher for Alon after witnessing the strength of his protector, nonetheless, he was proud when Alon called him a teacher.

"So, who is that someone important that you came all the way here for?" The teacher asked in an intrigued fashion.

Alon scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.

"The Duke," Alon said in a sheepish manner.

"Father is currently not home, you can wait here till he returns. Brother, don't you have some task father assigned to you?" Tess said without teasing Alon which was quite awkward for him by now.

"Right, well I'll come to find you when I have time. Don't call me teacher the next time we meet, call me Pontius." The young teacher said to Alon and nodded to Tess.

"Yes, teacher," Alon said to the departing Pontius with a bow.

"Sigh, you are still quite dumb. Follow me, I'll show you to your abode." Tess said as she turned around to lead the way.

"Who are you calling dumb?" Alon said as he followed behind her.

"You should stop being shocked by this guy by now." Helena giggled as she followed behind Alon.

Adam, Gary, Venice, and Fiona were still finding it hard to take in their reality.

While on the other hand, Laura was already walking by Alon's side.

"The Northern continent is where many different species live together in harmony, with the exception of humans, that's why I went to the human continent to see the species that my father boycotted," Tess explained while leading the pack.

"So, how was your experience?" Alon asked slyly, earning a glare from her.

The rest of the distance was covered in utter silence.

"The girls can stay in this room and the boy can take those two rooms." Tess assigned different rooms for boys and girls.

"You guys should freshen up and take some rest; there's something I want to talk to Tess about," Alon said.

"Follow me." Tess led Alon to somewhere they can talk privately.

"See you later." Alon waved at the others and followed after Tess.

After walking for some time Tess finally stopped.

"Do you prefer to talk in a room or the garden?" Tess inquired.

"The garden is fine," Alon answered right away.

Tess nodded and led him towards the garden, which was not much farther.

The garden was filled with very rare flowers and herbs, with a one really huge tree.

"It's beautiful," Alon remarked.

"Father is really proud of this garden; he takes care of the garden himself," Tess said.

"Wow!" Alon exclaimed in surprise.

They settled down on the bench placed at the center of the garden covered by a hut-like structure supported by four pillars.

The only difference being that it was built not with dried grass, but with precious stones.

"You can say whatever you want to say here, no one would dare to eavesdrop on us," Tess assured Alon.

"I think that the Four Arc Demons are conspiring against your father," Alon said confidently.

"He knows." Tess let out.

"Huh?" Alon made an astonished expression.

He was being surprised quite very often for some time.

"It's just that he can't do anything for now because he is unsure about the Demon lord's involvement." Tess said and continued, "If the Demon Lord is involved father would definitely be the one to suffer if he rushed to take action, so he's turning a blind eye to it till my eldest brother returns, maybe then we would have a chance."

Alon nodded his head in understanding.

"Anything else you want to add?" Tess inquired.

"There's one more thing, the Lester house from the Human continent is in contact with the Demon World, maybe they are planning something big, I think you guys should investigate about it just to be safe," Alon warned.

"They are just a small household, what can they even do?" Tess said arrogantly.

Alon just sighed; he finally saw the arrogance and aloofness of a princess in Tess.

"At war, even the smallest neglect can decide the winner and the loser, if we have a little better Intel, our chances to win are increased by tenfold."

A divine-like voice resounded in the garden as space fluctuated slightly.

"Father," Tess called out.

A silhouette of a middle-aged man appeared in the air, untouched by the dirt of the mortal world.

"I thank you for coming all this way to give us this Intel." The Duke said in a gentle tone as he landed on the grass.

"It's nothing; I also have something to gain from this." Alon did not keep it from the Duke.

"Hahaha, you are quite honest." The Duke laughed while praising Alon.

"Pontius." The Duke called out to his son.

Just a moment later, he arrived.

"Yes, father," Pontius said and waited for his father's order.

"Dig into the Lester house of the Human continent." The Duke ordered.

"I'll get right to it." Pontius acknowledged and turned to wink at Alon playfully before leaving.

The duke turned to Alon with a smile, clearly quite pleased with him.

"Tess, go bring Alon around the Royal Library, he is free to pick any art he desires."
