Everyone wanted to deny her words, but they couldn't. It was the bitter truth that they all secretly admitted. As they gathered in such low numbers and tight formation, the vampires kept gathering around them.
They stood in circles, surrounding them in dense lines to make sure none would escape.
"I never thought the mighty alpha of the Ravner legendary pack would be this weak looking lady!"
As she was thinking of the best strategy to bring down her enemies, a sinister voice she recognized came from one side.
"James... Stop this madness right now!" she turned to see that young looking man who was already over five hundred years in age.
He was one of the warlords of the vampires around the country. She met him before, and she didn't have a good impression about him.
"I can't do that," James had such an annoying smile over his face, "but I didn't come here without a safe path for you."
Anna knew he was planning to do something worse than just killing her. And yet she didn't speak and let him explain what he had in mind.
The only time she met with him, he seemed to be somehow close to her butler. Her butler was someone so old in age and lived through the reigns of many alphas.
And seeing that dreadful enemy of her pack standing in such carefree ways made her more enraged. It was an obvious statement that he wasn't worried of any reinforcements coming to her rescue.
Or else why would he stand in such a way and even have such a chat with her?
"If you agreed to marry me, and give me the total control over the pack then I might let you leave here unscathed," James paused before he took out a sword.
It was a double handed sword with a long handle. He pointed it towards her before moving it around.
"But this offer is only limited to you. Others... humph, I don't need to say anything about them, right?"
As his words landed, everyone around her turned with anxious looks and doubts.
When she heard what he said, her heart felt colder. She knew he wasn't giving her a real offer but he was just making fun out of her.
And that also pointed out his lack of worry towards her pack. 'They... already sold me out for them,' she thought while her heart started turning into a piece of stone.
"Stop listening to his dirty words," yet she instantly retorted, "we will fight our way out of here together. Get ready, we are going to risk our lives here."
"For the alpha!"
"For the pack!"
"For the Ravners!"
Shouts of the few remaining wolves came before they started to violently roar.
"Kill them all!" James dropped his sword and at this moment every single one of the vampires jumped at the wolves' throats.
"Follow me!" however Anna didn't plan to fight them head on like this. She knew once her few wolves got scattered around then everything would be lost.
She didn't dream of saving any of her guards from here. And so she prepared herself and toughened up her heart to accept everyone's deaths here.
The only tactic she had, the only path towards safety wasn't by defending. If she tried to defend then the vampires would end up eating up her forces slowly.
She wouldn't allow this to happen! So the only route she had was by ruthlessly attacking.
The survival instinct would force her to stay behind or in the middle of her forces. However she knew that doing so would only let the hearts of her wolves waver.
She was the alpha, their alpha. She was supposed to be their strongest, their toughest and cold hearted one.
And now she decided to show them how decisive and ruthless she was by leading the attack by herself. She acted as the tip of the spear, while ditching anything related to safety behind her heart.
After all, by being in the forefront like this she would only care about enemies at the front. As those coming from behind they would have to kill everyone else to reach her.
She was so confident in her ability to force her way amidst their lines before this would happen. When time would come and she got surrounded, Anna would be so close from that distant wall of the park.
Being there was like the saving straw for her. She would be saved and this ambush would eventually fail!
After all, such an old wall wouldn't stand a chance against her strength. She would try to jump over it, or even force herself through it if needed.
She wasn't fighting them using her strength alone, but also with her mind.
But unluckily she wasn't the only smart one here!
"Howl!"
"Crunch!"
"Splash!"
The fight was really brutal. She never felt herself acting so carefree on her nature like now. Despite being pressured this hard against the wall, she never stopped fighting.
She crushed all the vampires she met. She used her strong jaws, her paws, and even her body to hack any vampire she met.
She was unstoppable! Especially when the rest of the wolves gathered so tightly around, preventing any vampire from reaching out to her and also killing more vampires.
Things were heading so fast towards her favor. She was getting closer to the wall with each passing second. However all of sudden she heard a faint sound of wind before a group of ten strong looking vampires appeared and stopped in front of her path.
And they were led by no one but that distasteful James.
"Howl!" she gritted on her canines while her eyes turned ruthlessly red. She was so mad and feeling bloodthirsty towards James.
"Hit everyone around but her," James suddenly pointed his sword to the front before the ten vampires took out strange knives and started to rain her guards down with them.
Sounds of painful howling came from around her. It seemed these knives weren't that simple. However James didn't aim at her at all.
That told her that he already saw through her plan. And he wanted to humiliate her further. It didn't seem enough to be sold out by her pack, and he wanted to make her feel more despair.
'If you want to stop me, then I'll crush you first,' she issued a challenging howl before she changed her path and headed directly towards him.
"I'm not that easy to fall," James used his sword to stop her strong frontal paws before he moved fast and vanished from her front and appeared on her side. "You lost your protection, little princess!"
However instead of him landing a slash of his sword on her body, she stopped all of sudden and let her back paws turn and hit James in a surprise move.
"I know that, idiot," she said before she didn't care anymore about him. The next moment she landed in between the elite group of ten vampires and started to hack them into shreds.
The more she killed, the more rage welled up inside her body. She didn't seem to get any speck of relief from their blood, not even in the slightest.
"Scatter around... now!" All of sudden she issued this weird order. After all, as her enemy had seen through her plan of escape, there was no hope in her old tactic.
So all she could do now was to use this moment of chaos caused by throwing away the leader of the vampires. She had to get herself much closer to that wall at any cost.
She knew she would be able to kill all of these ten vampires here, but there was no guarantee that James would come back with more.
So she decided to send everyone to their deaths with cold blood while blocking this means in front of her enemy.
And like this she came closer to the wall, only about a hundred meters stood between her and the way out to safety.
