Chapter 6

Tommy knew that he was going to meet the trio theoughout his journey if he went after the same gyms. There were fifteen gyms in total in Kanto region. Ash went for the rock, water, electric, grass, poison, psychic, fire and the earth badge he won from the three stooges of team rocket.

The gyms that Ash hadn't visited were normal, flying, bug, fighting, ghost, ice and dragon. There were no steel, fairy and dark gym badges in Kanto region.

Tommy already had the rock gym badge after he defeated Brock. He was on his was to Celurian city for the water gym badge.

'I'll go in a different direction that those three.'

"What do you say, Pikachu? Are you ready to fry some fishes?"

"Pika pika!" (It's genocide time).

Tommy blinked and looked at Pikachu while Alfie and Rufflet shrieked and ran to a tree.

Pikachu, seeing the reaction, said, "Pi pika pika!" (I mean, pika pika).

'I feel like he will look good in a deadpool costume. Suits his character.'

"Alright, you've been out for too long. Back inside your pokeball, mister."

"Pika!" (You're weak!)

"Alright!"

Tommy put Pikachu back into his pokeball and him, Alfie and Rufflet resumed their journey to Celurian city. So far, I had seven pokemons registered to my name.

Somehow, even though Ash and his friends left for Cerulian city before Tommy, the latter reached the gym before them.

'They must've gotten lost again.'

He walked in through the doors of Cerulian gym and was greeted by the sight of three beautiful women in swim suits practicing for their show. Since they were gym leaders, Tommy knew without a doubt that all three were very competent.

'They definitely have strong pokemons, like Gyrados, Golduck or even a Kingdra. They have a duty to protect the city from dangers of wild pokemon and psychotic humans hell bent on enslaving all pokemons.'

"I'm here to challenge this gym!"

The lady who was about to dive stopped in middle of it and looked at me. "Oh! A challenger? I'm sorry, but, our pokemons are injured because of the challenger before you. So, you can just take one badge from those availible outside the doors."

Tommy frowned and said, "I'm not going to accept a badge I don't deserve. I know you have stronger pokemons. I'll fight one of them."

She sighed and said, "Another hot head. Alright, I'll use one of the stronger ones. Just, don't complain when you are soundly defeated by us."

"Are you sure, sis?"

"I am. Let's just get this over with."

With that, she asked one of the workers to bring her a case of pokeballs. Those were the ones that contained the gym's strongest pokemons and Tommy was excited to battle them.

A water arena with two platforms was prepared for the battle. Violet, one of the sensational sisters, stood on the opposite side of Tommy and said, "Last chance, boy. I don't want to unnecessarily hurt your pokemon. Pride isn't worth the pain your pokemon will experience in this battle."

Tommy was defiant and said, "I'm confident in their abilities. It isn't just about my pride. It's also about my pokemons'."

Violet sighed and called her pokemon out.

"Vaporeon, let's teach this newbie some humility."

Tommy was taken aback by the pokemon. He wasn't expecting to face a Vaporeon in the battle. From what he could recall, the pokemon had good special attack and special defence along with great health. It was going to be a tough battle.

"It's going to be a one vs one battle. Choose wisely."

Tommy looked at the pokeball in his hand and said, "Alright, buddy. You'll get to go all out. Pikachu! I choose you!!"

The rat pokemon appeared on the platform in from of Tommy and yelled, "Piika Pikachu!!" (It's time to fry fishes!!)

The Vaporeon frowned at Pikachu's audacity. It couldn't wait to show the runt some manners.

Daisy and Lily, who were the refrees, announced, "Begin!!"

"Vaporeon! Use aurora beam!!"

"Jump to dodge and use thunderbolt, full power!!"

"Pika Pikaaachuuu!!!!"

The mouse did as told and discharged a devastating attack towards Vaporeon. Violet was taken aback by the sheer power of the little mouse and immediately ordered her pokemon to take cover in the water.

Tommy smirked and said, "Vaporeon is in the water, Pikachu. Let's boil the fish out. Use thunderbolt followed by nasty plot!"

Pikachu smiled sinisterly and dipped his tail in the water before using thunderbolt again. The lightning electrolysed all the water and Vaporeon barely managed to jump onto the platform.

Violet sighed in relief, but, the thunderbolt had rendered the pool dry. She couldn't help but say, "I truely underestimated you and your pokemon. Huh! Vaporeon! Use acid armor!"

"Vapooo!!"

"Pikachu! Use agility followed by iron tail!"

"Pi pika pi!!"

Vaporeon's body flashed with a violet light as Pikachu lept towards it with his tail gaining a metallic sheen. He was upon Vaporeon within a second and the tail struck the pokemon right in the face.

Vaporeon was thrown to the wall of the pool with a wound appearing on its head. A snarl appeared on its face and Violet commanded, "Use surf!"

A wave of water crashed upon the pool and swept Pikachu away from the platform. Vaporeon jumped over its platform while Pikachu was at the bottom of the pool.

"Now, Vaporeon! Use blizzard!!"

"Vapoooo!!!"

Tommy panicked when he heard the name of the move. He quickly dunked his face in the water and shouted, "Swim up and use your strongest thunderbolt!!"

He managed to get out of the way of the ice that was forming over the water. Vaporeon's move froze the water within moments and Violet smiled triumphantly.

A second later, the frozen pool began to glow and steam before the ice was blasted apart by a devastating thunderbolt attack. The sisters and Vaporeon were shocked by the attack. Pikachu used the flying blocks of ice and gained altitude.

Tommy could feel it.. He grinned at Pikachu and commanded, "Let's go, Pikachu! Use thunder!!"

"Piiika.. chuuuuuu!!!"

Theceiling of the gym was blasted open as a massive lightning bolt decended from the heavens. Violet, not one to admit defeat, quickly shouted, "Vaporeon! Use ice beam!!"

"Vapoo.. reooonn!!!"

Ice and lightning clashed and illuminated the stadium with a bright light.

*BZZZT*

*BOOM*

*BADOOM*

Smoke and steam clouded everyone's vision. Tommy could hear the buzzing of electricity, so, he could tell that Pikachu was still in the battle. When the battlefield became clear, everyone could see the devastation caused by the clash. Ice littered all over the place and burnt stone from the lightning could be seen all over the place.

Pikachu was standing on his platform, wounded and tired. On the other side, Vaporeon's body was smoking as it layed defeated, unconscious from the massive explosion.

Violiet and the sisters were aghast at the result of the battle. One of their strongest was defeated by a rookie trainer. She sighed and accepted her defeat before calling Vaporeon back into its pokeball.

"Winner, Tommy and his Pikachu!!"

"Pika!" The mouse jumped into Tommy's arms as the two rejoiced in their win. Alfie barked with joy and jumped into Tommy's arms as well.

"You fought like a boss, Pikachu! I'm proud of you!"

"Piika pika pi!!"

The sisters walked towards him with a Cascade badge in their hands.

"This was unprecedented. You defeated me fair and square. You deserve the Cascade badge, Thomas Shelby."

"You know who I am?"

Violet smirked and said, "Every gym leader knows about Bill Shelby and the prodigious son of his whom the man keeps parroting about."

'Parroting about me?' Tommy got embarrassed as the sisters laughed at his expense.

"It was an honor fighting against you."

Tommy smiled and acceped the badge from the sisters.

It was his second badge and Tommy had no plans of stopping any time soon.
