My eyes couldn't widen up in surprise seeing the beam, not because it was powerful but because I did not sense the monster before it had attacked me.

The beam had reached me and was about to hit me when it suddenly froze in the air. I looked at the dense pink beam, which seemed to have illusionary qualities in it, which made me even more curious, and I twirled my fingers, bringing it even close to me.
