Chapter 2 What I have always wanted

           Lunch break is over and we move to our afternoon lessons. 'what.....? I don't understand this at all..' 

          ".....and then you square the cotents of the parentheses and expand it out. Also don't forget to square the coefficient. If you switch sides of the equal sign the solution for x squared is....." The teacher keep talking and am not even following up.

        "What is this? Some kind of secret code...?" Or probably some kind of evil spell...? Either way I don't get it at all. It just goes in one ear and out the other. Do the others really understand this? Raising my head to look at the others.

          I can understand someone who seems as hardworking as Enju but even Akari and John looks like the they are taking the lesson seriously.... In other words, it looks like I'm the only one who doesn't understand. "Dammit... I never expected school life would come with problems like this."

         But i have to take it in. Running away from this means running away from a regular life. I go to squeeze my eraser ... "Oops." Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I don't get a proper grip on my eraser and it tumbles down my desk. And it looks like Enju noticed because the eraser is really close to her.

          As I reach down for my eraser my hand brushes against the tip of Enju's fingers.

          "Hentai! What are you doing feeling up my fingers?!" She yell at me. " Hey don't yell I just want my eraser." I said to her 

          "You there pipe down! Be quiet!" The teacher us and yells. "S-Sorry sir..... Now look he got mad at me because of you!". Enju tell me with n angry look on her face.

         " How is it my fault" but she didn't reply and just turn her face. "I think i made her mad."

         " I don't think she's mad at you" Akari said turning towards me. And as always her ample bust is resting on my desk. It's weight squashing her.... No what am I saying?!. "Hey we're in the middle of a lesson" I said trying my best not to look at her boobs.

          "Nevermind that you look like you're having trouble. I can fix any problem you know?" Akari said proudly. 

         "Yeah...? I'm having a hard time pinning down your character." When I think about it though this might be my lucky break. I can have Akari teach me! Wait..... Akari teaching me... Would that really work?

        "Hmm? I get the feeling that you're thinking something bad!" She said looking suspiciously at me. "No of course not... Anyway I don't understand this problem!" I said pointing on my paper to get her distracted and it worked.

         "Hmmm.... Oh all you have to do is substitute here" she says without even an inche. "You understand this stuff? What about this one then?" I point another one for her.

        "Just a little miscalculation... Umm... Oh here" She point it out. And all i could do is just amazingly look at her as she goes. Akari is pretty smart.

         "Akari's pretty intelligent... When it comes to schoolwork." Enju say beside me and Akari blush.  "No I don't think she's complementing you! She emphasized 'schoolwork'...so everything else...."

          Enju is glaring at me "I don't think you're in a position to be laughing at anyone...not from what I've seen anyway".... "It's okay Kazuki I'll teach you" Akari said to me with a smile. "Hold off for now we're in the middle of a lesson. Anyway how about facing forward? Look the teacher is getting angry!" Enju say before facing ahead.

         And so after school...

         "So which part don't you understand? Well I'll say everything as far as I can tell....but...." Enju says giving me the cold stare and I was a bit startled. "Come on spit it out! This is no time to be trying to save face is it?" Dammit.... There's nothing I can say back to that. Anyway... "To tell you the truth... I don't have a clue!"

          "That's nothing to be proud of..." Again I get the cold stare from her. The look in her eyes really send a chill down my spine. 

           "Right-o! In that case I'll give it my all to teach you! Akari said as she... "Wha... Hey! You're taking up half the seat...!" The two of us each taking half of one seat.... A veritable picture of youth... Wait more importantly..... Her breast is now touching my arm!!!

         "Oh am I in the way? Should I move back to my seat?" She asked with a puppy dog eyes. Damnit who can say no to that. "No it's fine this! Yup! A-OK!" But Enju don't like the idea and tell use to separate. Seriously sometimes I can't understand her a all.

        "Anyway..... Kazuki you're completely hopeless at schoolwork." Enju say and out of nowhere "HAHAHA! DESTROYED!" John appear and group of people start gathering around my desk. And...

        "Umm... who are you...?"I asked the girl standing next to John for I've never seen her before. "Oh I haven't introduced myself yet have I transfer student number two.... I'm Yamabuki Suou. Yamabuki as in 'mountain breeze'. You can call me bookie for short okay?"

         "Oh right.... Pleased to meet you Yamabuki." She laughed before John start talking "Yamabuki is my second best friend so please don't be mean to her okay?" What's he talking about.....

         "He was having trouble with all the chicks flocking to him and I helped him out" Says the Buki girl " And it turns out we got on pretty well and had a lot of the same interests....Ahh dear me..." She say laughing. They both start saying how they we're planning on exchanging anime DVD's....

         "I see kindred spirits eh.. I like anime too, so nice to meet you! And by the way Johnny! You said she was your second best friend.... I don't really like to ask....but who's your best friend?"

        "HAHAHA! You even need to as ol' pal?!" I don't remember us becoming good friends...?! Yamabuki then start saying things that i clearly don't want to here. She smiles affectionately and I want to refuse with every fibre of my being. I just give a sigh

         "Anyway did you want something Johnny?" I ask..... " Oh yeah! Kazuki let's go home together!" I see. This is how I get confused playing for the other team..... "Sorry Johnny I've got some unpleasant business to take care of..."

         " Sorry John-san . Today he's got to study with us after school!" Enju says before I had a chance to say anything.  "WHAT?! An after school study session with the ladies?!" He said surprised almost yelling. Suddenly John takes hold of my desk with both hands and draw his face closer to mine. So close! Too close! Yamabuki is loving it!

         What's more his eyes are strangely wide and his face shaking. "Wh-What?" I ask "Th-Thi..." "?".  "This is the youth I've been seeking"

           Huh?! "Listen.... think about it Kazuki. The setting sun shining through the classroom window... you and a girl with your desk pulled together...just the two of you....."

          "No there won't just be two of us. You've got the whole premise wrong." I say but.... "Don't sweet the small stuff! You're just making me even more jealous! You're not just alone with a cute girl.... You're alone with TWO cute girls!" Well that's true I guess....

          Now that he mentions it this does sound like a picture of youth.....  "Shoot! I'm so jealous Kazuki.... You only just started school and already you've got yourself into a wonderful situation like this!" John say feeling down again. But what he doesn't know is that this is not a date it's just for study.

          "No wait.... Sure they may look cute but on the inside they're an airhead and a mad woman you know?!" Enju is angry always while Akari just laugh it off. "An airhead and a tsundere?! What a cliche... So what time are we getting the photo? 

         "Wrong dimension! Stop talking about it like it's an otome game!!!" I reply to him why he's laughing. "*Sigh*... Because of John-san I don't even feel angry anymore... Anyway let's review today's material and preview tomorrow's lesson okay?" 

         "Yeah..... Sorry" I apologies to her..... "It's fine. It's not your fault... I'm going to go get ready." Enju says before leaving the classroom. She's really taking this seriously. All we have to do is look at my schoolwork but it looks like she's isn't stopping there.

          I kinda feel bad... She must have stuff of her own to do. "That's what's great about Enju... She may not seem like it but she loves to help people! So you don't need to say sorry... All you need to do is thank her!" Akari say like she has reed my mind.

          "I see... Well thanks then. I'll take you up on your offer." I say 

          "Mm-hmm...and I'm gonna go all out to teach you too! Aim for the top of the class!" Akari said but I don't think I want to aim that high.

           A few hours later Akari and Enju have finished going over all the classwork thoroughly with me. Meanwhile all John and Yamabuki did was chat in the corner nonstop about their favorite anime. And then.... "Alright I'm done! There how about that?

            "Hmm... You actually seem to get it once you're shown how... I wonder why you've been so hopeless up until now exactly" Enju say surprised. "Oh... Well I used to live in the boonies so I never had anyone to teach me probably."

           "What kind of hillbilly are you...? Let's see... correct...this one's also correct..."

           "Wow! Amazing Kazuki! You got them all right!" Say Akari 

           "Well this much is to be expected. The important thing is whether or not you can keep it up. If you're back to where you started again tomorrow, I'm gonna be angry you know?" Says Enju

       "I get it, I get it. I'll work hard." 

        "Really?"

        "Yeah. Figuring out what I didn't understand before is fun. Besides..." The ordinary life I yearned for.... school life....right now I'm bathed in it's glorious glow! That's how I feel when these two are teaching me. I even feel like it would be nice if things can continue like this forever...

        "Well... Thanks to you two starting from tomorrow I think I should be able to manage."

        "Not at all... You're welcome!" Say Akari

        "Sure... Just be sure to practice by yourself too. We can't always be taking care of you." Enju says

         "Kazuki! will be just fine" 

          "Why are you answering for him Akari?"

           "Kazuki is the kind of boy who can do it if he just tries!"

           "That's the line of a parent of some kid who can't study to save his life" Enju says giving me the cold stare once again. "No it isn't. Kazuki picks up really fast. He was listening to today's explanation really carefully. He's got that gumption... I'm sure he can do it! Right Kazuki?"

          Honestly I don't know if I can be trused quite that far. Especially for a guy she hasn't known that long. But is there a guy who could say no here? A girl believes in you and expect things of you. Someone who can't live up to that isn't fit to call himself a man.

          "Got it. I'll work hard."

          "I wonder..." As usual Enju has her doubt

          "I want to catch up with everyone else as soon as possible. You know I feel really happy. Living an uneventful day like this to the fullest... giving it my all! I study hard! For myself and for you both who worked so hard to teach me."

           Suddenly the two of them becomes really quiet and stare at me with a dazed look. "Wh-What's the matter?" Did I say something strange or something? Then suddenly Akari smiles and Enju purses her lips and looks away. "Hmph... I won't be fooled by that kind of talk."

          "It's not just the classwork either. You help me with a lot of stuff today." Enju in particular has given me a lot of help and subjected me to a lot of violence too. " Well I'm the class rep so it's my job. Don't get the wrong idea!

           I thought I could hear Enju voice shaking but she quickly looks away again with a stubborn expression. Would it be hard for her to just accept my thanks. "Huh! What about me?!" Akari ask 

        "Of course. Thanks to you I had a lot of fun Akari"I'm not just saying that either. Akari's snioe makes me feel relaxed. Although the off-kitter way she act is constantly putting me on Edge too. 

             My first day of school. Normally it'd be a day of nerves and tension but instead it was filled with fun and laughter. "It's all thanks to the both of you. So thank you"

          "Bah what am i meant to... Argh fine! You're welcome"

           "Enju went from 'tsun' to 'dere'"

            "I didn't go 'dere'. Anyway be sure to review and preview! Don't think I'm gonna teach you again next time alright!"

          "Like I said I got it. Are you always this angry" 

          "Nope. That just how she hides her embarrassment!" Akari replied but Enju doesn't seems happy about it. "What? No it isn't This is my jod as a class rep!"

          "A real life tsundere! It was worth my time coming to this country after all!" John speak up as him and Yamabuki approach us. "I'm not a tsundere! You say something too!"

         "Nope you're a tsundere" I say as all of burst into laughter. No I'm not I keep telling you! And stop giving me that 'yeah right' face! *Sigh* Ugh. I'm worn out to be mad anymore. It's about time to leave school so let's call it a day."

        "Oh dorm life in Japan. I'm lookin' forward to it." And as usual Johnny is excited but....  "So everybody's dorm student except me? Too bad I have to go home alone." It looks like it's going to be sunset soon though. Having to go all the way back home means she'll get home really late.

          It shouldn't be really dangerous but a girl out alone at night isn't the safest thing on the planet. "What about you Enju?"

         "I have business with the student council and i have the deliver these papers there too" Enju slaps a buddle of papers on the teacher's desk. Just by looking at them I can tell there's a lot. She's going to carry all that herself. Isn't that gonna be tough.

        "What about you" Enju ask me and i answered " I don't have anything in particular to do but..." Before I could finish John cuts me off..... "Hey! Then let's go back together! We can talk about this season's anime along the way!" What should I do now? If i go straight back to the dorm I can go with John and Yamabuki but....?

         "Akari I'll walk you half way home to say thanks for today." Her eyes sparkles as I say that. "Thank you for going over the classwork with me today." 

         "It's fine I had fun too and besides I got to know you better Kazuki." 

         "You shouldn't say things like that carelessly." That smile on her face would send a love struck adolescent student head over heels in an instant. 

         "That's goes for you too. Hehe... Today really was fun though. It's the start of a new semester and I had destiny like meeting with a transfer student like you Kazuki!"

          "Wow slow down. What do you mean destiny. It was just a freaking accident."

         "I get the feeling this is go to gonna be an interesting year. I hope more fun things happen!" Akari eyes are sparkling in the sunset. No it isn't the sun that is making them sparkles, it's her own passion. "Yeah I hope the fun days keep coming too. Anyway Akari I think I'll have to part ways with you here. "

         "What is it. Was it something I said" I shake my head telling her no "I was going to do some shopping at the co-op on the way home and I completely forgot" 

         "If you've got stuff to do then go and get it done I'll be fine don't worry okay. See you tomorrow.

         And so my busy first day comes to an end "dorm life eh." Student around my age living together under one roof. This is my first time doing this sort of thing. "Oops almost forgot before that my review and preview I need to get it done before going to bed." I think back over each of today's events one by one.

          I am feeling good about all this. It is a little different than the quiet days I imagine d but starting tomorrow I'm sure an easygoing life awaits me. Or so I thought....

          For a while now I have noticed something approaching me but I can't sense anyone nearby. I start to quicken my pace as I can now feel an even intent coming. And it's something that will destroy the everyday life that's right within my grasp.

          But there is something about this feeling. It's the same one I sensed during lunch break. A chill runs down my spine and I immediately duck down. And that was close because something graze past my hair. I hear the sound of wind whipping by and a weapon being drawn then there's a dull sound as a blade stick into the wall. This is a chakram.

          "Who's there" I call out into the empty air. A moonless night, a street that should be empty....and out of nowhere! "You who carry the Kamuy! Your life is mine." I hear a voice cut through the darkness.
