Modern Magicians

After a mystical accident, John found himself in a world he never dreamt was real. Magic wasn't just for shows and birthday parties it was instead a weapon for the true powers of the world. One thing led to another and John found himself in the middle of a power struggle that could potentially destroy the world. I don't really have a scheduled to release chapters. I just do it when I'm done writing one so I'm sorry if I don't update in a day or two.

"My name is Jessie by the way. We never introduced ourselves" Jessie said with a smile.

"I'm John nice to officially meet you." John felt a little embarrassed when he recalled what happened that night. John could see that she was also embarrassed as well.

"Are you feeling well? Do you feel any aches or dizziness?" She asked.

"No, I'm fine. So you don't remember what happened that night?" John asked.

"Nope, I only remember us making out and then I woke up at the hospital. How about you?" Jessie asked.

"I can't seem to remember either. it's crazy huh?" John wasn't a dumbass to actually tell her what happened. Even if he did, it would just make me look like a crazy person.

They started making small talk and before long Alfred came back with an older gentleman. The doctor checked his vitals and all that good stuff before declaring john was absolutely healthy.

"John, why don't you spend the night here? I'll pick you up first thing tomorrow." Alfred suggested. He also gave a little wink which John had no idea what for.

"No can do I have to get home now," John was very determined to get home. Which psycho would lay in bed if they knew they that they had learned the ability to shoot fireballs out of thin air?

"But you can't walk yet," Alfred said.

"Why do you think wheelchairs exist." John stubbornly insisted.

"Fine" Alfred said with a sigh.

Jessie who was still in the room felt a little disappointed for some reason. She said her goodbyes and left.

One hour later John arrived home as poor Alfred struggled to get john out of the car. "You know Alfred I'm not disabled. I can walk I just need a little support. When I said wheelchair I didn't mean it literally." John said as Alfred carried him onto the wheelchair.

"Woah!"

"Sorry. I slipped a little" Alfred apologized.

"On air? right." John rolled his eyes at him.

"John I'll hire a physical therapist tomorrow. I'll also send you the agenda for tomorrow. Mr. Revear said, "As long as you've to gain consciousness you'll be able to work." Those are the exact words of his." Alfred was already about to leave after he relayed his message.

"Hey Alfred what did the old man say about this."

"Pardon?"

"About me being found in an alleyway unconscious with a woman"

"He didn't seem to care"

"I see. you can go now."

Alfred left and it was just Jonh in his wheelchair inside the huge house. John didn't know if he should feel disappointed or glad.

'Well, no use brooding over it. It's not like its any different than in the past.'

John rolled towards the basement and found himself staring down the steps. 'Ok. so how do I get down.'

30 minutes later John somehow made it down the stairs. 'phew that was a struggle.' upon closer look one could see some dents and scratches on the wheelchair.

The basement of Johns's house was a giant empty space. One of the perks of being super-rich was you have random large unused spaces in your house.

"Ok let's start with the fireball skill." John started doing the gesture for the spell-like he's been doing it for all his life.

To John's, disappointment nothing happened, absolutely nothing. John tried again but still no result. "Hmm. What did I do wrong" He started to think and finally realized what he did wrong?

In Lance's memory, he channeled the mana from his mindscape which was something John did not have. A mindscape was basically a battery for a magician. Every magician has to open their mindscape to step on to the path of a mage. To open the mindscape an Arcane chant is required.

"ok let's try opening the mindscape then." John closed his eyes and started chanting the Arcane chant Lance has used. After a few minutes of chanting John felt a sudden headache. Then the voice of the dark figure started chanting in his mind. The chanting grew louder and louder until the only thing he could hear was the screechy voice.

Before he could react John was no longer inside the basement. John found himself in a circular white room with 10 meters in diameter. In the ceiling, John saw colorful streams of light floating around like an aurora.

'This is my mindscape?! this looks nothing like its supposed to be'

John has seen Lances' mindscape and it was just roughly 5 meters in size. The color was also a murky gray instead of pure white. According to lances memory when a magician first opens his mindscape it would be roughly 1 meter and it slowly grows as time goes by.

Now John was very shocked and excited. Not only was his Mindscape 10 times bigger it also has something else which was never seen before. The multi-color lights in the ceiling were probably elemental mana.

Every magician has at least one affinity with a certain type of mana. For example, Lance had an affinity with fire mana so he was able to use powerful fire magic. This also means that a fire mage would never be able to use another type of magic and likewise.

There were exceptions of course. Some Magicians were born having two elements. This was a very rare case so rare it was hardly ever seen.

Looking at the lights in the sky John could tell there were definitely more than two elements.
