18 "The Incident"

(A/N: Hey guys, it's me your author again, coming right to you with a new chapter, after the disaster of the last few chapters, I was thinking of dropping this fic. But the multitudes of comments saying that this fic was still good and asking for new chapters. Therefore, I decided to soldier on and see where the wind would take me.

So, in this chapter, I will try to address "The Incident" from multiple POVs. I am dragging this story, but I think it is going well at least for me and I am trying to make conversations like some of the comments suggested I do, but I can't seem to do that efficiently and it just looks horrid and terrible to read. I am seeing the other fics, which do the conversation style, I also like to read them, but I, myself can't seem to make sentences in that form. And I read all your comments and please do give me the marks for my English paper if you are going to check my grammar in every sentence(jk). But seriously, could you be vainer, that you have to check grammar in a free novel? okay enough of my ranting, on to the chapter now.)

*MC POV*

Today is the day I am looking forward to for quite some time. Today Grandpa will marry Gloria and I get to be his best man. As it was the first time me being someone's best man, I asked the only adult member of the family, what to do. And that was my mother, Claire Dunphy. As Uncle Mitch sometimes says, that mother was the son that Grandpa never had. This shows in how well Mom helped me on this occasion.

As I was not of the age to give my Grandpa a "Bachelor's Party", I called his best friend "Shorty" to help me with it and it was eye-opening to know that both Shorty and Grandpa considered themselves each other's best friends and act like two teenage girls around each other. It was a new experience and the first time I saw my manly Grandpa act in such a way.

But enough about that, because I could not go to the actual Bachelor party with Grandpa and his friends, I made Grandpa take Uncle Cam and Dad too. So the rest of the family helped me with other things. Uncle Mitch helped me make a guest list and even after my vehement objection, he circumvented me and invited Nana. Don't get me wrong I love my Nana when she does not act like her show self but other times "meh" I knew that there was some incident at Grandpa's wedding and I was hoping to avoid that. But it looks like I have to do something else to avoid that.

Mom helped me with the venue and other things to do at a wedding. As my mother was still coming around to Grandpa marrying Gloria, she was not at all happy helping me. But sometimes being her favorite offspring helps and she could not say no to me when I asked her.

So, all the things happened on time and the wedding was taking place in front of my eyes now. I am standing right next to my Grandpa in a church. I for the first time, get to wear a tux in both of my lives, and according to my girlfriend, who is sitting right next to my mother down on the chairs, I was looking hot, so I took it as a compliment.

Then the processional music started and I saw Gloria coming down the aisle. Manny is walking her to where the wedding ceremony is going to take place. When she reached the altar, I see my Grandfather taking her hand from Manny and helping her up the altar.

Then the officiator asked all to sit down and he started the wedding ceremony and it went like any other ceremony I have watched. Grandpa wrote his own vows but some of them were help from me as well like the phrase in Spanish at the end of his vows and looking at the smile on Gloria's face, I knew it was a good idea.

The wedding ceremony ended when Grandpa kissed Gloria and they made their way outside of the church where the wedding vehicle was parked. They got on it and made their way to the venue where the rest of the party was going to happen.

In all of this, my main focus now was on my Nana and taking care of her so that she does not make the whole incident happen this time.

*Dedee POV*

Today was the day, I was not looking forward to but I knew I had to go through with it. Because I made a great deal to all the members of the family, who said that me going there was not a good idea. And I think I agree with them now, but nothing could come out of this and I just had to go suck up and go to that wedding.

The wedding ceremony was nice and I saw how happy Jay was. In one area of my mind, I was happy for him as well but in another area, I was jealous and very angry that why Jay got to have this happiness. I was unloading it all on the kids and Phil. Claire for some reason kept getting me drinks and I was getting very drunk.

The time for another toast came, after Nate, my eldest Grandson gave his best man speech and there were some tears in some of the women's and Phil's eyes. I was so drunk, that I had no idea what was happening.

But the next day, when Mitch came to drop me off at the airport from my hotel room, that was when he told me what had happened last night and what I had done. I was not happy on one end but on the other, I was somewhat satisfied that I ruined Jay and Gloria's memorable day.

*Claire POV*

My dad was marrying a woman my age and I know it sounds disgusting. But my dad was happy and my son was there with him on the alter as his best man, so I was somewhat happy as well. I know, I do not like Gloria, but Nate seems to like her and he sometimes defends her in front of me. It was not good in the beginning but after he said to look at my Dad before I say anything to Gloria and we are here now driving to their wedding dinner.

My mom is here as well despite all the family members being against it, Mitch that mama's boy invited her and get approval from Dad as well. And she was not happy despite the smile on her face and after some drinks when she started to rant about Dad, I gave her some extra cocktails "Horny Columbians", which is named after Gloria's uncles here at the wedding because of the way they were hitting on me and Phil was as always not noticing it somehow.

My mom got drunk and I still think that someone else is giving her cocktails as well because she is super drunk. After my boy's best man speech, which he wrote by himself, I got emotional but in my vision, I saw what is not right and before I could stop her, my mom went ahead and started giving her own toast and it was humiliating on a whole new level.

In that toast, she ranted all things she has been ranting to the family members in front of all our friends and family. She taunted me too in there, but Phil stopped me from creating another big scene. It ended with Cam and Nate taking her out when she pushed Phil and Mitch in the wedding from one of her kicks.

*MC POV*

The moment I was regretting finally came, I was just about to sit after my speech, in a moment Nana snatched the microphone from the DJ and started her toast.

Nana - [glass clinking] I would like to make a toast. To the bride and the groom, my ex. 35 years we were together, And he couldn't wait 10 minutes to run off with Charo. I'm kidding. Seriously, I knew they were perfect for each other When I saw his wallet and her boobs. [laughs]. Take your hands off me.

Uncle Mitch - "Mom! Mom! Stop this!"

Nana - Oh, relax, Mitchell. What, did you take your Claire pill?

Mom - Okay, l-let's just -- let's get a little fresh air, okay? Come on.

And then it got weird.

Nana -[hispanic accent] I'm Gloria. I'm Gloria. Kiss me. Oh, hey, kiss me.

then Phil, Cam, and Mitch tried to take her out like in the show and unlike in the show Nana here was stronger and before they could take her outside, Nana kicked Uncle Mitch and Dad into the wedding cake.

Nana - Ay-yi-yi-yi-yi! Ooh! Ay-yi-yi-yi-yi!

[guests gasping, murmuring]

after that, I and Uncle Cam had to take her outside and it took a lot of power despite me being so powerful due to my skills.

And "The Incident" still happened and this incident was even more shameful than the previous one after Uncle Cam drove Nana to her hotel with Uncle Mitch, I went inside and the guests were about to leave.

So I knew I had to do something that the guest will forget this incident even though it was going to be hard.

Then I gave my Dad the signal and he made the DJ turn the lights off and when the lights came back on, it was a spotlight on me and Dad on the dance floor, then we started our performance mixing Dance and close-up magic which Mom made us cancel when we were rehearsing.

And it had the desired effect, as the attention of all the guests was now on us and at the end of our performance, we made it into a full-on dance party. There was somewhat of a smile on Grandpa and Gloria's faces during our performance and during the dance party, I saw them dancing happily together with Manny, so I think I somewhat saved the scene which was almost ruined by Nana and at the end of the day, I performed my best man duties completely.

At the end of the night, when all the guests left the party, I also slow-danced with Gigi one last time as she was going to sleep at our house, so she didn't need to go home before. As we were dancing, I saw her smiling. Her smile was out of the world and I almost forgot what happened earlier that night for one moment.

(*A/N- It was a long chapter compared to my other chapter, but I got it done in one instead of two chapters as I was initially thinking. Next time we will be on the "Pilot" finally. And again sorry for the late update and as usual, give me all your power stones and Leave a review.)
