Someone to watch

"That's weird. My cello teacher's car isn't here", Alex commented, looking out the car window, "I wonder if she isn't home".

"So go knock on the door and check, Alan Einstein", Haley retorted.

"Don't leave", Alex said, stepping out, "And it's Albert Einstein".

"I know", Haley remarked, rolling her eyes, "Alan's his dorky brother who played the cello".

"That's a good one", Gabby, Haley's friend, commented, laughing at the joke. Seeing Alex looking through the window of a house, Gabby muttered, "I should probably not be telling you this".

"What?", Haley asked.

"Nothing", Gabby responded, "It's awful".

"Tell me", Haley demanded in excitement.

"When you and Dylan were broken up", Gabby began, "Rachel told him you were a skank and got all up on him".

"No", Haley gasped, "But she's so nice to me".

"To your face", Gabby admitted, "That's how she plays".

"Now she's going to see how we play", Haley muttered.

"What are we going to do?", Gabby asked, desperate to know.

"She's not there", Alex explained as she entered the car, "You're just going to have to take me home".

"We don't have time!", Haley exclaimed, "We have stuff to do".

"Then I'm just going to have to come with you", Alex retorted.

"Can't we just drop her off at some coffee shop or something?", Gabby asked in desperation.

"So she gets kidnapped and I get in trouble?", Haley retorted.

"Hey. This is pretty close to Zephyr's", Alex interrupted, "You can just drop me off at his".

"That's a great idea", Haley replied.

"Who's Zephyr?", Gabby asked, somewhat curious.

"He's Alex's boyfriend", Haley answered.

"Really?", Gabby asked, "Your sister, who does cello, somehow got a boyfriend?".

"Yeah", Haley sighed, "I question how he even likes her".

"You know I'm in the car with you, right?", Alex cut in.

"Urgh", Haley groaned, "I forgot. Alex, give me his address and Gabby, you start driving. The sooner we ditch her, the sooner we get revenge".

"Ooooh", Gabby muttered, clapping her hands in excitement, "I can't wait".

"Hurry up!", Haley exclaimed.

Nodding her head, Gabby put the car in gear and began to drive. Meanwhile, Alex began texting on her phone.

"Take a left", Alex directed, with Gabby listening and turning the steering wheel to the left. "Stop at the sixth house", Alex instructed as they cruised down the street.

"Is this it?", Gabby impatiently asked, using the brakes to slow down the car.

"Yeah", Alex answered, getting out of the car as soon as it came to a stop. As she walked around the hood of the car, she was suddenly stopped by a voice calling out her name.

"Alex!", Zephyr shouted, causing Alex, who was about to open the door, to halt.

Turning around, she greeted him back, "Hey Zephyr".

"Hey", he replied. Looking at the large cello in the back seat, he asked, "Do you want me to take it inside?"

Nodding her head, Alex turned to Haley, who was doing her nails, and said, "You can go now".

As she said this, Zephyr quickly pulled the cello out and turned to Alex, "Come on. Let's go", he instructed, walking towards the house, with Alex following after him.

"That's her boyfriend?", Gabby asked, shocked by the revelation.

"Yeah", Haley sighed.

"Isn't he, like, out of her league", Gabby commented.

"I don't know all the details, but he's, like, some super nerd", Haley answered.

"He doesn't look one though", Gabby argued, "He looks like an athlete".

"He's in the soccer team", Haley stated, "One of the best too".

"His house is quite big. Is his dad wealthy or something?", Gabby asked as she began to drive away.

"I don't know about his dad, but he's quite rich as well", Haley muttered, looking at her nail.

"Huh", Gabby murmured.

"He made Candy Crush and Subway Surfers", Haley remarked, sighing when she noticed the slightly uneven nail.

"No way!", Gabby exclaimed, "Candy Crush is my favourite game".

"You can talk about my sister's boyfriend later", Haley muttered in exasperation, "We need to get to the school as soon as possible and show Rachel what happens when you're a two-faced bitch".

[With Alex and Zephyr]

As soon as they entered his room, Zephyr shut the door and quickly locked it. Swerving on his feet, he stared at Alex and gently asked, "What's wrong?"

"What makes you think that something's wrong?", Alex, unconvincingly, countered.

"We've been dating for a long time", Zephyr muttered, sitting next to Alex, "I can tell when something's bothering you".

"Really?", Alex mumbled.

"Of course", Zephyr soothed, hugging her, "And besides. You're a really bad liar".

"No. I'm not", Alex half-heartedly complained.

"You are", Zephyr argued, "You never met someone's eyes when you're lying and you always look left when you answer. What's more. I'm not an idiot. This is the first time Haley's driving you to your cello lesson, and I already know that you hate playing the cello, so chances are that you lied to her and made her go to a random house to pretend that your teacher's not there".

"Ok. Fine", Alex sighed, "I ditched the cello lesson on purpose"

"Good", Zephyr muttered, running his hand through her hair.

"You're not going to tell me what I did was wrong?", Alex murmured.

"No", Zephyr shook his head, "It's obvious that going to cello lessons is hurting you. I'd be a horrible boyfriend if I reprimanded you".

"Thanks", Alex mumbled.

"Don't worry about it", Zephyr whispered, "I'm here for you, no matter what".

"I know", Alex muttered. After a few minutes of enjoying each other's warmth, Alex and Zephyr separated from each other.

"How are you feeling?", Zephyr asked.

"A lot better", Alex answered. Just as she was about to say something, she stopped. "What do you think Haley's doing right now?", Alex asked, "She said she was getting revenge on someone but I'm not sure what she'll do".

Zephyr thought about it for a few seconds, "Maybe they're putting shaving cream in the person's locker. I hear it's a common thing in high school".

"Really?", Alex asked, confused by the revelation, "But what if they have homework assignments that they haven't given in?"

"I'm assuming that's part of the revenge", Zephyr answered, shrugging his shoulders.

"High school sounds horrible", Alex stated, "How do people make it out of there alive?"

"It's a mystery", Zephyr muttered, not too sure himself, "I hear that people who are sporty do quite well, in terms of popularity. So if you make the lacrosse team, chances are you'll breeze through".

"I'm planning on quitting lacrosse when we get to high school", Alex revealed.

"What?!", Zephyr exclaimed, "Why?!"

"I want to get the best grades possible to make it into the best university I can", Alex replied, "If I do lacrosse, my grades might take a hit".

Shaking his head, Zephyr remarked, "Alex, you're going to get into a great university no matter what. It doesn't matter if it's not Harvard or Yale, as long as you do your best, it's enough".

Sighing, Alex took a deep breath, "You're right, as usual".

"Besides", Zephyr muttered, "You don't need to go far away for university. CalTech's not too far from here, and it's a really good university as well".

"I guess", Alex admitted, "But my family's hopes and dreams are kinda pinned on me. I feel like I'll disappoint them if I don't end up going somewhere really famous".

"You won't disappoint them", Zephyr countered, "If they heard you say what you that, I guarantee you that they'd say exactly what I am saying".

"That does sound like them", Alex murmured.

Seeing the depressing mood in the room, he tried to lighten things up, "Hey. I beat my high score on Subway Surfers. I bet that you won't be able to beat it".

"No way!", Alex exclaimed, "I'll beat you any day of the week".

"Bug words from a short girl", Zephyr teased.

"I'm still growing", Alex remarked, rolling her eyes, "And besides. You're not too impressive either".

Gasping, Zephyr dramatically fell on his bed, "My poor poor heart".

Smacg him on the chest, Alex complained, "Hurry up and get your phone out. I'm going to beat you and there's nothing you can do about it".

[Time Skip]

"Argh", Alex muttered in frustration, throwing her phone on his bed, "This is so unfair. How do you beat me every time I beat you're high score?"

"It's called skill", Zephyr countered, a smug smile on his face.

"As if", Alex snorted, "You must be cheating somehow".

"And how would I be doing that?", Zephyr questioned.

"I don't know", Alex muttered, "But you're the one who made the game. You must know how to cheat". As she was about to continue her rant, she was interrupted by her phone vibrating. Stopping herself from continuing, she quickly grabbed her phone and read it, her eyes widening in surprise. "Oh My God!", Alex screamed.

"What's wrong?", Zephyr asked, curious about what happened.

"Haley's at the police station", Alex answered, vibrating from joy.

"Shouldn't you be concerned?", Zephyr questioned, "She is your sister".

"She's been such a bitch to me recently", Alex complained, "She deserves it", causing Zephyr to sigh at her antics.
