22 Airport
The car glided smoothly along the highway, its sleek exterior shimmering under the golden rays of the setting sun. It cruised past the bustling suburbs, the urban landscape fading into the distance behind it. The tyres hummed softly as they devoured the asphalt, carrying the vehicle steadily closer to its destination.
Inside the car, 3 of the 4 passengers conversed intensely, displaying a scene of joy and warmth. In the backseat, next to a bubbly blonde girl, around the age of 7, sat the last weary passenger, a boy around the age of 13, reclining comfortably against the plush leather upholstery. The rhythmic purr of the engine provided a soothing backdrop as he watched the passing scenery through the tinted windows. The boy's eyes occasionally caught glimpses of grand mansions, lush green parks, and hurried commuters going about their day.
As the car continued its journey, it approached the outskirts of the city. The roads widened, and the surroundings transitioned into open countryside. The boy observed quaint houses and swaying fields, momentarily captivated by the serene beauty of the rural landscape.
Soon, signs indicating the airport came into view. The car seamlessly merged into the flow of vehicles, following the arrows that guided its way. The driver expertly manoeuvred through the airport entrance, slowing down as he navigated the maze of lanes. The car eventually came to a halt near the bustling terminal building, its engine purring to a gentle silence.
Stepping out, the boy made his way to the trunk and pulled the luggage out with the aid of his father. After paying the driver, the family of 4 made their way inside the airport.
"Are you excited Zephyr?", the father asked his son.
"Not exactly", Zephyr muttered.
[Flashback]
"Guess where we're going?!", Matt excitedly exclaimed.
"A beach", Zephyr answered.
"Yes. Well, not exactly", Matt answered, "For spring break, we are going to, drumroll please...". Zephyr looked at Matt with a neutral face and did not move to drumroll, causing Matt to roll his eyes. "Fine. We're going to Hawaii"
"Really?!", Zephyr asked, his mood changing in an instant.
"Yep", Matt said proudly, "Me, you, Desiree, Bella and Luna are going to go to Hawaii".
Hearing his words, Zephyr groaned, "I knew you wouldn't take us somewhere as nice as Hawaii for no reason".
"What's with that response?", Matt asked, clearly offended by Zephyr's attitude, "You say that like I don't take you anywhere nice".
"You don't", Zephyr stated.
"Yes I do", Matt argued, "I took us to Greece".
"That's because Mom forced you to", Zephyr replied.
"What about Rome?", Matt said.
"Mom had to go there for business and you decided we should tag along", Zephyr countered.
"What about Barcelona then?", Matt responded.
"I don't remember ever going Barcelona", Zephyr remarked.
"Oh yeah", Matt nodded, "You weren't born yet".
"You're just proving my point", Zephyr voiced.
[Flashback end]
"Come on Zephyr", Desiree cheered, "It's spring break. Smile a little".
"Leave him", Matt said with a grin on his face, "He's just grumpy because he won't see Alex for a week".
"No", Zephyr argued, "That's not it".
"Are you sure?", Desiree questioned, "Whenever you're not with Alex you're always so grumpy"
"I don't know what you're on about", Zephyr said, looking away from them.
"Zephyr's always grumpy", Bella said, "Bella doesn't like it".
"See", Matt said while chuckling, "Even Bella agrees".
Zephyr didn't respond, instead choosing to walk ahead of them. The sight made Desiree and Matt laugh, something Zephyr took notice of but was too embarrassed to reply to.
[Time Skip]
"Oh My God!", Gloria screamed upon seeing the new arrivals, "What are you guys doing here?"
"We should be asking you that", Matt replied with a laugh.
"We're going to Hawaii", Alex said.
"No way", Zephyr remarked, "So are we".
"What are the chances?", Claire asked.
"Close to 0", Jay muttered under his breath.
Unfortunately, Gloria heard and playfully smacked him on the back of his head, "Ay Papi. Don't be so rude. It'll be nice seeing even more familiar faces", Gloria excitedly exclaimed.
"Yes. Fun", Jay depressingly muttered.
"Come on Jay", Gloria said while rubbing Jay's arms, "We're going to celebrate your birthday, at least act more excited".
"Yay", Jay neutrally said, "So fun".
[With Alex, Haley and Zephyr]
"So what are you guys doing?", Zephyr asked, seeing Haley constantly looking at a guy sitting near them.
"Haley's trying to get the attention of that guy", Alex said, motioning towards the guy.
"Isn't she dating Dylan?", Zephyr asked.
"Yes", Haley answered, "But Dylan's Dylan. He's not that guy".
"I've said it multiple times. He's out of your league Haley", Alex remarked, "He reads".
"I know", Haley replied, biting her lips and looking at the guy.
"This is just weird", Zephyr commented.
"Exactly my thoughts", Alex admitted, "She doesn't even know him and she's already considering ruining her relationship with Dylan".
[With the adults]
"Matt!", Cam shouted as soon as he saw him, "What are you doing here? Did Gloria invite you guys too?"
"Nope", Matt replied, "We decided to hear out to Hawaii for spring break. It's pure luck that we met".
"Is that Lily?", Desiree asked looking at the baby in Cam's arms.
"Yes", Cam said, nodding his head, "It's so nice seeing you again Desiree"
""You guys know each other?"", Matt and Claire asked at the same time.
"Yeah", Desiree said, nodding her head, "We've known each other for over almost a year now".
"We both get our shirts from the same shop" Cam added, "The first time we spoke was when there was his one shirt left and we both wanted it. From there, we just hit things off".
"That shirt really was your colour though", Desiree commented.
"Shush girl", Cam replied, fanning his face while smiling, "It looked even better on you".
In response, Desiree waved off his praise, a smile on her face. "You haven't met her yet but this is Bella", Desire introduced while lightly pushing her daughter forward.
"Hi. I'm Bella. I'm 7 and I like vanilla ice cream and Zephyr's food", Bella shyly said.
"Honey. This isn't a job interview", Desiree said, trying to calm her down, "You don't need to be so nervous".
"Don't worry", Cam waved off her concerns, "It's natural for her to be shy at this age". Kneeling, he looked at Bella and introduced himself, "I'm Cam. It's so nice to finally meet you. Your mom talks about you all the time".
Bella looked at him for a second before running back and hiding behind Desiree's legs, causing everyone to laugh, which further contributes to Bella's shyness.
[With Alex, Haley and Zephyr]
After making sure that she was looking her best, Haley snapped shut her mirror and looked at Alex, "Do I look good? Why am I asking you? You don't know the first thing about looking good". Getting up, she straightened out her t-shirt, muttering, "Wish me luck".
"How much do you want to bet that she fails?", Alex said, watching Haley walk away.
"20 bucks that the guy is younger than her", Zephyr said, confident.
"Bet", Alex said, quickly shaking hands with Zephyr and turning her attention back to Haley.
"So", Haley said, sitting next to the guy, "Airports huh"
"Yeah", the guy said, looking up from his sketchbook.
"Are you drawing something there?", Haley asked, pointing at one of the drawings she could see.
"Eh!", the guy muttered, shrugging his shoulders, "It's no good".
"Tortured artist. Classic", Haley said, staring deeply at him.
"Oh yeah", he said, showing her the drawing, "It's a robot".
"Well, yeah, sure is", Haley said, "What's behind him?"
"A dinosaur", the guy proudly declared, "It's for school, we're meant to make a comic strip".
"Oh yeah. We had to do that back in eighth grade", Haley said, her eyes widening when she realised what she was doing. Looking around, she noticed Alex and Zephyr who couldn't hold back their laughter. Getting up, she stormed her way towards them.
"He was 14", Zephyr said, struggling to voice his thoughts due to his laughter.
"Shut up!", Haley screamed, which did nothing to stop their laughter.
"'He's my soulmate'", Alex said, mimicking Haley and falling off her seat due to the intensity of her laughter.
Haley growled, and seeing no signs of them stopping, she walked away from them, her arms crossed in anger. "Oh God", Zephyr muttered, incapable of calling his laughter, "Did you see her face?"
"I wish I took a picture", Alex managed to say, rolling on the floor.
[Time Skip]
"Have a great flight Ms Bennet", the airport staff member said, "It's to the left".
"Thank you", Desiree said, grabbing Bella's arm and walking away.
"Great haircut", the staff member said, seeing Matt.
"Thanks", Matt nodded, "Got it done a few days ago".
"No need to slow down the line", Zephyr said, pushing Matt forward.
"Hey. There's another hottie for you at 5 o'clock", Alex teasingly muttered as she walked past the barrier.
"Shut up", Haley answered, "Hey. I think Zephyr's talking to a cute girl over there".
"What?! Where?!", Alex asked in panic.
"Gotcha", Haley replied, walking past Alex with a smile on her face.
"Oh. Gorgeous", the staff member said, seeing Cam, Mitchell and Lily.
"Thanks", Cam muttered, "It's vintage".
"I think he meant Lily and not your shirt", Mitch said, giving the staff member his ticket.
"It's whale watching", Jay said with Gloria hugging his arm.
"Whale washing", Gloria said with her accent.
"Close enough", Jay said, handing his ticket.
"Have a good flight sir", the staff member said, receiving a nod from Jay as he walked past with Manny and Gloria.
"Quick. Do your best zombie impression", Phil said, walking with Claire in his arms.
"She hasn't been drinking. Has she?", the staff member asked with worry.
"Oh no no no no no. She's hilarious", Phil lied while laughing, "Let's do Bride of Frankenstein", he said, carrying her in both arms, "So so so good", he said, struggling to hold Claire.
