The door creaked open slightly, the sound almost deafening as a result of how silent the hallway was. I sank my teeth into my lower lip, muffling a hiss as I pray to my stars that the creaking would stop.
I wasn't about to get busted on my mission.
The creak stopped just at that moment and I sucked in a deep breath, planning my next step and the best way to carry it out.
I had spent my whole day doing two things, watching the hourglass and trying to help Kyros figure out where we were to go next for our next soul object. Rowan had been in his room but not once did he come out to join us.
I had a feeling he could hear every one of our suggestions and how our frustration mounted by the second as we met nothing but confusion and doubt.
Kyros had cried, complaining about how useless of a mage he was and that made up the third thing I had done today.
