His eyes moved ever so slowly, tracking the paragraphs within the book he was reading. With a flick of his thumb, he turned a page in the rather sizable tome, resuming his reading from the upper-right corner.
It was a language he had mastered perfectly, the everyday tongue of the upperworld's inhabitants. Its complexities were almost nonexistent; those who undertook the task of learning to read and write could easily grasp it within a matter of weeks to a month - individual intelligence factored in, of course. Unlike the intricate language and script of his ancestors, which required meticulous consideration of every detail and vast understanding, this language allowed Anubis to gain insights and knowledge about this world, in this special case, Eldoria, from the books Safa had prepared.
