A robotic voice echoed in Ash's mind and, suddenly, everything around him went dark.
Then, just a few moments later, a myriad of colorful lights burst before his eyes as he found himself standing in an old city or rather the ruins of one.
The crumbling buildings with vines and moss growing over them stood as far as the Ash could see, stretching into the distance like a hauntingly beautiful painting.
However, he didn't really care about the scenery at the moment.
His eyes were busy scavenging the area, making sure that no hostile entities were nearby.
After he made sure that he was alone, he opened his mouth and muttered under his breath:
"Status."
As soon as the words left his lips, a holographic interface materialized in front of him. It was a transparent window displaying various pieces of information.

The hologram stretched out before Ash, making him smile. It was beautifully organized and gave him a clear overview of his current status and abilities.
He took a moment to take it all in. His eyes danced across the screen for a brief moment before he sighed and shook his head.
"I was dealt a pretty rough hand here..."
Ash muttered to himself.
Attributes were a crucial aspect of the characters in the world of RuneVast. Although you could use Status Points to improve them, at the start their value would be randomly set within a certain range, making each character's strengths and weaknesses unique.
And some people... They got a bit luckier than others. Ash on the other hand, had the short end of the stick - his attributes were not particularly impressive.
For a moment, he thought about recreating his account to see if he could get better attributes, but then he remembered that upon character deletion you have to wait a few days before creating a new one. He simply couldn't afford to waste that much time.
"Unfortunate..."
Biting his lip, he moved down the status screen, noticing the Spell and Status section. Although he had no spells, he had a singular Basic skill called Beastly Instincts.
Tapping onto its name, Ash quickly read its description:
① Beastly Instincts [ B ] ⟶ Lv. 1
A common skill possessed by the beast race. It momentarily enhances character's perception and senses.

Ah, it seems it was a starting skill that came with being a Beast. Nothing extraordinary, but Ash could imagine it being very useful in a lot of situations.
He continued scrolling through the hologram until he reached the Items section. Two items were stored within it: Gold Coins and a Loot Chest.
Gold coins are the currency used in the world of RuneVast, allowing players to purchase various items and services. Loot chests, on the other hand, are basically mystery boxes and contain random rewards that could potentially be valuable or useful.
Upon character creation, players are given Bronze [ C ] Tier Loot Chest, which typically contains common and low-tier items. However, there was also a small chance of obtaining some rare or even epic tier items from it.
It all depended on the amount of luck one had...
And unfortunately for Ash, luck wasn't exactly on his side. He only had 4 Status Points allocated to his luck attribute and he wasn't planning to invest any more in it at the moment.
Sighing, he simply pressed onto the chest's icon and opened it.

As the rewards popped up before him, his face scrunched up even more. Clearly, he wasn't satisfied with the contents of the loot chest.
However, he didn't stand idle for too long, equipping both the Rusty Dagger and the Tattered Cloth Armor.

With that out of the way, Ash finally decided to assign his five spare status points. After some deliberation he decided to split them like this:

Feeling satisfied with himself, he closed the hologram and took in a deep breath. He finally finished organizing his stuff and it was time to begin playing the game.
"I've missed this feeling..."
Muttering under his breath, he took the first step since he had logged in.
