Xin gulped audibly, his apprehension palpable. He was relieved to know that Evangeline's lethal prowess in one-shooting creatures applied only to her own kind.

"Agh . . ." Evangeline groaned, overcome by dizziness, collapsing onto the ground. "S-so . . . hungry . . ."

Her eyes flickered to the ashes that remained of Lord Valerian, a mix of anger and frustration etched across her delicate features. "That good-for-nothing traitor . . . Now look what you made me do . . ."

Xin expected remorse or sadness, but Evangeline's next words left him utterly flabbergasted. 

"I'm so hungry, and you made me spill a lot of blood by killing you . . . If only I was in my optimum health, I would definitely spit and stomp on your ashes right now."

". . ." Xin's doubt grew at whether the girl was really a vampire Queen or not.
