Prologue

Prologue:

Most astronomers believe the Universe began in a Big Bang about 14 billion years ago. At that time, the entire Universe was inside an extremely small bubble. It was hotter and denser than anything we can imagine. Then it exploded. The Universe that we know was born. Time, space, and matter all began with the Big Bang. In a fraction of a second, the Universe grew from smaller than a single atom to bigger than a galaxy. And it kept on growing at a fantastic rate. It is still expanding today. The only direct evidence of the Big Bang itself is a faint glow in space. Spacecraft and telescopes on balloons see this as a patchy pattern of slightly warmer and cooler gas all around us. These ripples also show where the hydrogen clouds were slightly denser. As millions of years passed, the dense areas pulled in material because they had more gravity. Finally, about 100 million years after the Big Bang, the gas became hot and dense enough for the first stars to form. New stars were being born at a rate 10 times higher than in the present-day Universe. Large clusters of stars soon became the first galaxies.

Witnessing the birth of the universe and its subsequent growth was truly fascinating if not for the fact that I had no idea how I even ended up here, wherever this was. For some reason, my emotions seemed to be muted as if I had a version of "Gamers Mind" from The Gamer webtoon. I had no time to ponder whether my muted emotions were good or not as my surroundings suddenly changed into a pure white room.

I looked around the empty white room and spotted a floating screen in the middle. I felt myself hovering towards the screen. It was then that I realized I was a translucent floating body. Upon reaching the screen I proceeded to read what was on it.

"Welcome to the Inter-Dimensional Waiting Room. This is a holding facility for souls before they are sent on their Inter-Dimensional Travel Package. Each travel package is personalized based on the soul's innermost desires and each soul can claim additional benefits based on their karmic value at the moment of their death. Additionally, each soul will receive its multiverse for its afterlife experience. If the soul has any more questions it may use the keyboard below to do so."

I was surprised upon reading what was on the screen. I may not have been the most religious person when I was alive but I always believed that there was a great beyond upon death. However never in a million years did I think the afterlife will involve Inter-dimensional travel much less a floating screen.

I had so many thoughts circling through my head but the main ones were centered around what the travel package was and what were the available benefits for whatever my karmic value was. I decided the best way to answer such questions was to ask the screen itself. As I was proceeding to ask the floating screen the all-important questions I realized that my life or afterlife should I say was about to become interesting.

First things first I wanted to know what my karmic value was and what kind of a person I was in my last life. For some reason, I had no recollection of who I was as if all of the memories about my personal life were deleted. I seemingly only had knowledge of various anime and manga that I might have watched or read before I died. After pondering my strange situation, I proceeded to take a closer look at the information on the screen. The screen which previously had the welcome message now had an interface that showcased my basic information. On the screen, there was a picture of me, which I assume was taken when I was alive, as well as other personal information. Strangely enough, my name was listed as "nameless", while my height, weight, and age were all blank. I guessed that just like my memory, anything related to my personal life was inaccessible to me. For some reason that did not affect me as much as I expected. Upon further inspection, I noticed a small header that was titled "Karmic Value". I proceeded to click on it and the floating screen changed again. The screen now showed my "Karmic Value" which was "75/100". Upon seeing it, I realized that my "Karmic Value" was above average which I guessed was a good thing. Underneath my "Karmic Value", there was a list of my notable actions in my last life that determined my eventual "Karmic Value". The main positive ones that stood out were the fact that I was a frequent volunteer at an orphanage as well as a regular blood donor. On the flip side, the one main negative action I had was that I cheated on multiple occasions back in middle school for various tests. Honestly, cheating on class tests was pretty tame compared to the worse things humans are capable of. Overall I was quite satisfied with my "Karmic Value" and actions. Now then, it is time to get me some benefits or should I say cheats for my new life.
