CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR
Winter
I raise my hands to summon the wind, but nothing happens. It's like I'm all tapped out, my body aching from head to toe. The Silver Hunter with the dark armor steps closer, his grin visible under his half-helmet.
"So glad I found you," he says. "You and the Golden Coin."
I stare at him. "I don't have the Golden Coin."
His nostrils flare. "I won't tolerate lying, girl."
I search for an escape, but I'm surrounded on all sides by Silver Hunters. "If I had the Golden Coin, don't you think I would have used it by now?"
He steps closer, his sword raised. "I don't have time for games. Give me the Golden Coin, or suffer the consequences."
I know I'm in trouble. I've never felt this helpless before. My powers are gone, and I'm surrounded by enemies. But I won't go down without a fight.
"Sorry to tell you that you're being delusional," I grit through tight teeth.
