Her mind started to work in strange angles as a smirk graced her face. "Olivia..." Reginald spoke in a tired voice. This was not what he wanted from the beginning. He wanted them to solve things and now they were heading back to square one. "Don't mention my name in that manner." She slammed her eyes shut for a second before opening them. When?

A gentle breeze fluttered the dark-wine chiffon curtains flutter. The atmosphere in the dining hall was sober. What was more it looked as though it was about to rain.

The trays of dishes were placed at the center of the table, before the maids took them and started to arrange them before him. King Oberon stared down at his meal without saying a word.

His pale lips moved as he raised his eyes and stared at the direction of the exit. He sighed before taking a fork and a knife. Oberon helped himself to take a bite of food, despite his hands struggling to stay still as he gripped the cutleries.

The doors opened silently from both sides and Adele's figure was seen before it. She had an expressionless look on her face as she stared at him from afar.

Adele still found him good-looking even when he looked like he was breathing his last. She pursed her lips as she stared at the man she once loved. A subtle smile appeared on her face and she strutted toward him in a slow manner.

Oberon never raised his eyes to look at her. He kept focusing on his meal like there was nothing else he could look at.

It made her lips curl into an angry grimace and she took fast strides toward the dining. A sweet smile curved on her face as she pushed a seat back and took a step forward to sit beside him.

She thought he would lift his eyes again, but no. He had that same attitude of nonchalance. One that made her recall the late Queen and her daughter.

Too bad it was her son that would be the heir to his throne. So she thought.

Adele cleared her throat and she placed her hands on the table. "Greetings, Your Majesty. It seems you're really enjoying your meal, to not notice my presence."

Her coquettish voice resonated in the silent dining hall. The occasional clanking of cutleries on the glass plates accompanied the silence.

Oberon placed his cutlery on his plate and leaned back. He swallowed in every particle of the food in his mouth before he spoke in his usual gentle voice.

"Why are you here this time? To secretly place a pill in my drink again?" He raised a brow as though he was mocking her of her past deeds.

In order for her to get the King into her arms, she had to drug him to stupor and get him into her chambers. It was a lucky night for her because Queen Vanessa was deemed ill.

It was one of the nights in a month that the Queen always seeked to be alone and away from the palace. The reason why, not one soul knew.

Adele never cared anyway. The kind of pill she gave him was one that made his sexual urge so hard to resist. He wouldn't care if he had s***d any woman, that was the effect of the drug.

So she had used that to her advantage and get herself away with getting pregnant with the King's heir.

Adele was happy because she was the first to get pregnant for the King's heir. That made her whole motive to being the significant other of the king feel fulfilled. But alas, getting pregnant for his heir didn't even get him to look at her the way he looked at Vanessa.

She had fooled herself.

Oberon reminding her of her actions was like opening up a scar she had tried her best to heal. It made her realize how useless she was by his side. He never loved her. She thought having him on her bed, and opening up would get him to look her direction once, but it didn't.

It gave her all the reason to hate on Princess Olivia. She was a symbol of the love between Oberon and Vanessa.

Trying her best to hide her gnawing anger, she forced a big grin on her face while batting her lashes innocently. "I already got what I wanted. I just wanted to check up on you, since your dearest daughter has left the castle." She sighed as though it was a casual topic between the two of them.

Oberon did not take his eyes off Adele who seemed to be talking on and on about Olivia. She stated what was wrong with her dress and how she never allowed her cousin into the Hayes' mansion... when it was clearly Reginald who never wanted them in.

Adele had been playing these games of wanting to bring Olivia down to pieces. She wanted her to look worthless before her father but just like the times she tried, it failed as usual.

"Just stop it, Adele. When are you going to grow up?" His expression turned grave and he leaned closer to her.

His action made her breath hitched while her heart started racing. She thought she would no longer react this way when he was this close, but it seemed her heart was still fond of him. It never forgot the good old days when she was still the senior daughter to the first son of the Wilsons.

"I just wanted you to know how terrible it would be for the royal family's reputation." She choked out, her eyes buried deep into his silvery gaze.

"This is one of the reasons Vanessa was more better than you." With that, he helped himself up even though every movement was painful.

Adele remained pinned on her seat, while her mouth had slacked open. Oberon walked out of the dining hall, not even minding to spare her a glance.

The loud thud of the shut door pulled her out of her reverie. She bit down her tongue in anger while his semi-deep voice kept replaying in her thoughts.

Adele clenched her fist so tight as she stared at nothingness.

"Being dead isn't enough. I thought I would be the happiest after you're gone. I thought I would be the new Queen, but your death changed nothing." She spoke through clenched teeth while veins poped out of her forehead.

She couldn't keep her anger bottled in so she pulled the cloth that covered the table. What accompanied her action was the crashing of glasswares and her grunt.

"Just when would it be Adele's time? When!?"
