Three days prior to her wedding, Olivia finds her betrothed in the company of her step-cousin. On the outside, he is known as the son of a General. But no one knows the mystery that surrounds him and the entanglement with the Princess. Reginald was actually tasked from beginning to keep Olivia safe. But from what danger? Was fate actually playing a role in bringing these two people with different stories and mysteries together? **** EXCERPT "It means you're not remorseful." Her mind started to work in strange angles as a smirk graced her face. "Olivia..." Reginald spoke in a tired voice. This was not what he wanted from the beginning. He wanted them to solve things and now they were heading back to square one. "Don't mention my name in that manner." She slammed her eyes shut for a second before opening them. This was because she started to feel confused. "Olivia!" Reginald called out again, this time with great force that said he wanted her to focus on what they were talking about. "Please don't —" "Tell me what I did." "You're in love with another woman! I caught you hugging her in that room, Reginald!"

Stop who?

"You're too late!" She grunted out, her fingers still digging into his dark sleeves.

Reginald shook his head, his face contorting with pain as he watched his wife struggling to breathe in his arms.

"Don't blame yourself." Her lips were upturned as those eyes began to close.

"No, no." He grabbed her shoulder tight as if that gesture would make her stay awake.

"It's my fault," Olivia whispered while feeling her soul leaving her body. She grew limp in his arms while her eyes were half-opened.

Reginald's face was white with shock as he watched her breathe her last. Her chest was no longer moving. There was no expression on her face. Her lashes didn't move to prevent the wind from drying her eyes.

Everything was just still. This was someone he promised to protect. Someone who waited for him patiently... someone he loved so much... he killed her!
