Max's POV

'We're fucked…' Po whimpered.

I started to back up when I stumbled over a tree stump.

'Oww,' I thought, stretching my knee. 'That will hurt in the morning.'

Glancing toward Alpha Colten, I realized he was nowhere to be seen. I slowly stood up, taking caution when it came to my sore knee. Taking in my surroundings, I noticed Alpha Colton was walking toward the cliffside.

"Alpha Colten!" I yelled, snatching him away from the edge.

"I… I don't understand. Her scent leads over the cliffside…" muttered Alpha Colton, situating himself onto the grass.

"Let's just set up a camp, and rethink about what we are going to do," I proposed, backing away from the cliffside.

It was beginning to become dusk, and we had finally set up a camp. It wasn't very good, but we had constructed a shelter and gathered some food. Alpha Colten was gathering firewood and created a fire pit.

"Are you okay, Alpha?"

"I guess I just need some sleep. I would like to spend a few days here," he responded, sitting next to a tree, "I need to figure out why her scent leads off a cliff. I know she is still alive, so why…"

Leaving him to think, wandered back to the stream. The sound of the water seemed to calm my wolf.

' I don't understand. The scent leads off a cliff, so did she jump? If she did, then we would have felt it… unless…'

'Unless what? Po!'

'Unless it is not a cliff, but an illusion. The clue, "We will arrive, along with the wind…" the cliff is windy. And the doe led us here, to a place that we never wanted to look. We think she jumped. This is our fear. "When you need me the most I shall appear, to take you to the place where we all fear, there you will be given a clue…" We need to look for a clue'

'Since when are you so smart?'

'Shut up. I am very smart'

'Like when you thought a piece of lint was a spider and…'

'SHUT UP!'

Laughing at Po, I started to look around.

~2 hours later~

Finding nothing, I walked back to camp. Alpha Colten has shifted and was sleeping next to the fire, which left an orange glow to his fur. And since his fur is black, it left an interesting ombre effect.

Po seemed content knowing that no harm would come to Tazanna when we found her, because Alpha Colten would protect her with his life. Then, I shifted and fell asleep looking over the cliffside.

Just as I was drifting off, I could have sworn I saw the woman from my earlier walk right off the cliff and disappear. Too tired to react, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
