Chapter 6

Violetta entered the kitchen and was greeted by a broad back claded in a white shirt and a head full of black curly hair tied in a bun.

Well that's pretty attractive.

Vanessa saw the figure coming into the kitchen and she smiled widely. I thought she was never going to come early. "V!"

Violetta drifted her gaze to Vanessa who was smiling widely. She waved at her and rounded the counter and stopped on the other side before getting a good look at the man sitted. Frowning, she felt a sense of familiarity and couldn't help but recall where she had seen this man.

"V, meet my brother, Seth. And Seth, meet my cute roommate, Vanessa."

The man named Seth stretched forth his hand and said with a smile on his face "Hello."

Violetta looked from the man to his stretched hand and then to the man. It was then she remembered that he was the man who came to the cafe yesterday. With a nod she accepted his gesture that didn't last for a minute before pulling her hand away. "Hi." She said with an expressionless face, not bothering to smile.

"I didn't know you would be back so early?" Vanessa decided to break the awkward silence that lingered in the air.

"We didn't take a long time and Jenny had an appointment." Violetta simply stated as she opened the freezer and took out a bottle of water before closing it.

"I'm sure you had a wonderful time." Vanessa said after turning around to concentrate on what she was cooking.

"I'm sure you meant she had a wonderful time." Violetta said before taking a sip of her water unaware of the gaze heading her way.

Vanessa was about to say something but was stopped by the vibration from her pocket.

"Excuse me I'll have to take this. V, can you help me get the food on the table?"

"Sure no problem." Violetta took Vanessa's place and began serving the spaghetti into the plate.

"I'll help you." Seth said and got up from his chair.

Violetta wanted to refuse but since he already got up then she couldn't stop him.

Vanessa walked into the kitchen quickly and said "Hey guys, so I just got a call from my editor, Lucy, and she needs me at the over now."

"That's fine." Seth said dropping the plates filled with spaghetti on the dinning table.

"I'll go get dressed then." With that, Vanessa left for her room to get changed.

Violetta brought out a food flask and served some spaghetti inside before closing the lid and putting it into the lunch box meant for Vanessa.

Seth stood by the corner watching the woman he was introduced to some minutes ago with a gentle gaze. He watched each movement carefully and felt calm. He didn't know why but ever since he saw her at the cafe the other day he was attracted to her and that was something he couldn't explain. He was surprised to know that she was his sister's flatmate who was always absent.

Vanessa came rushing into the kitchen with her bag while fixing her glasses and hair.

"Here."

She saw the lunch box stretched out towards her and she smiled widely. Taking the lunch box from Violetta she hugged her tightly and kissed her on her cheek before releasing her.

"Thank you V, you are a life saver. Bye!" And with that she disappeared leaving Violetta and Seth alone.

"Shall we?" Seth asked gesturing to the dining room and reminding her about their meal that might have gotten cold.

"Hm."

They both sat down at the table and made themselves comfortable. Seth was about to take his fork and begin his meal but was stopped by the woman sitting in front of him.

"Sorry to stop you but do you mind if we pray before we start?" Violetta asked politely and stared at him. She was used to praying before eating so she hoped he didn't mind.

"No, no I don't." Seth smiled, which was rare. If his subordinates were to see him like this they would get a heart attack.

After a short prayer, they began eating. Seth would occasionally steal glances at Violetta who was busy with her food and phone. He took his time to stare at her features. Pale brown eyes, freckled covered cheek, blonde hair, thin lips... She wasn't a beauty who could turn heads but he felt like there was something about her that attracted him to her and it definitely wasn't beauty.

"So, Vanessa, I hope you don't mind me calling you by your name?"

He saw her shake her head and then stared at him. He noticed that she was a lady of few words.

"So Vanessa, what do you do?" He asked

"I'm a waitress at a café. I'm sure you know that." She stated still looking at him blankly.

Seth mentally slapped his forehead and scolded himself. Of course he knew that she worked in a café, they have met each other before!

"I'm sorry for asking you that."

"No problem. So, what do you do?" Violetta threw his question back to him. Her food was long finished and she decided to entertain herself with their getting to know each other game.

"I'm a business man." Seth answered. He wondered if this woman knew who he was but it looks like she didn't because if she did she wouldn't be asking his line of work.

"That's good."

"Yeah." Seth didn't know why but he felt like she was not interested in this conversation.

"Am I inconveniencing you Vanessa?"

"Why do you say so?"

"You don't seem interested in having this conversation?" Seth said

Honestly she was not in the mood for conversations right now but since he was a guest and her flatmate's brother she decided to stay with him until he decides to leave.

"I'm sorry about my attitude. I'm tired from today's activities so it is kind off telling on me."

"Oh I'm sorry."
