Miss Troublemaker

Sometimes stuff makes you do despicable deeds. As of this moment, I am dumbfounded by the leather jacket held out to me. If I were not soaking wet, shivering with a cold, and going red due to fever, I would happily waste his attempt at being a gentleman. His biceps twitched as he held out the jacket further while he pitched his voice. How dare he command me? It can’t be possible that my wavering hands are reaching out for the jacket that is drenched with the scent of pure leather. Maybe my hands are naive or my vision is blurred or my senses are blocked as I am reaching out for something out of reach. I shut my eyes. Maybe I am just dreaming. Suddenly he wraps my shoulders with his jacket. I want to take it all in: the warmth, the pleasure, and the gist. All of his kindness seems to be a fantasy. Am I still alive? The warmth brings on realization and my eyes snap open. What am I doing with my enemy by my side?

Olive's pov

Things are getting way out of control.

Like was I panicking for nothing?

All Mr. Cruel ever wanted was a confirmation that I won't show up in his life ever again.

Hardly does he know that I don't plan on seeing his face either.

Things have twisted a bit especially after his claim of not knowing me.

I can't just simply walk out of this place.

Not after I have complicated things with my own hands.

I reflect why I ever declared him my boyfriend initially.

That is when it hits me. An idea.

I embrace myself.

It is either do or die.

In no time I start blabbering, "It's my fault… it's my fault"

I waver my hands for a natural effect and deepen my voice that it becomes rough, "officer I am the one who let him undergo this trauma; even though, I am well aware he is sick"

There is complete silence in the room.

The officer, Mr. Cruel, and even his driver, who was behind me and now came to the middle due to the sudden shock, everyone goes silent.

They make me feel as if I am the one who is out of its mind.

I simply ignore their curious and somewhat threatening looks.

"I can't bear with it anymore; I can't see him like this any longer. Every time something goes out of his way he starts saying ominous stuff. I want to break up too"

"Officer please record my statement" I say in a serious tone.

"Okay" that's all the officer could reply.

"I, Olive Martinez, hereby admit that I jumped in front of this man's car. I was fully aware of my act and I will not hold him responsible for the injuries I got. Furthermore, in the future I won't ever reach this guy by any means. Neither would I feign injuries or ask for any sort of compensation. In return I ask to not be bothered again in the future"

I finish my entire sentence in one breath.

After I complete my speech I look up at the officer again.

He is desperately trying to catch up, but I have no time to waste.

I have another one to deal with.

"Are you happy now?" I glare in Mr. Cruel's eyes.

He tilts his head.

I pat on his shoulder.

"Remember we are done with each other"

I make myself clear and without any further notice stand up.

I don't even bother to turn around.

I just walk as fast as I can and evade the scene.

Not long after the chilly air of the night wraps me. I shudder and gather my courage.

It is a new place for me but I can't ask him for help.

The only good thing is that I can see people around.

I am not lonely.

I limp down the path and see the busy roads ahead.

I stop a taxi and get in.

The car starts to move and I address the driver.

"Can I borrow your phone sir?"
