STRANGE FEELING

"Can we grab coffee sometime?" A teenage boy asked the girl who is currently sitting while reading a book in the library. The girl didn't hear what the boy said because she had her air pods on.

"Yah." The girl beside her snaps her fingers in front of her to grab her attention. She looked at her and took off her air pods.

"What?" She asked. The girl pointed out the boy in front of her. She looked at the person in front of her.

"Hello, how may I help you?" she asked nicely. The boy smiled.

"I just wanted to ask if we could grab some coffee sometimes?" She blinked and politely said.

"Maybe next time, I'm still busy." She smiled and put back her air pods on her ear and went back to reading her book. The girl sighed and took her air pods off her ear.

"Dione, that's the 3rd guy that had asked you out." She told her. Dione looked at her.

"So? Should I be bothered by it Alice?" She replied, unbothered by the actions of the boy. Alice only facepalmed and just sipped her espresso.

Dione and Alice are freshmen in the V College in Edmonton, Canada. They met at high school and had been friends ever since. They also took the same course, Interior Design. Alice is currently frustrated by her friends' behavior because she had no idea that the guys that had been asking her about are famous in their college.

'Dear me, when will I be able to see her date?' she frustratedly thought. She had never seen her friend, except for their guy friend, interact with another male. Which made her more curious why she had never taken an interest in the opposite gender.

"Are you a tomboy?" She blurted out without thinking. She covered her mouth and looked at Dione who was glaring at her.

"Will I be able to dress this pretty if I'm a tomboy?" She answered back and rolled her eyes. Alice pouted and looked at her phone.

"Oh, my boyfriend is coming here." she excitedly said. Dione shook her head and drank her water.

"It's time for me to go then" she said and fixed her things. Alice insisted that she stays but,

"No, I still need to go to the library to borrow books for our upcoming lessons. Just text me if we're going home later." And left. Alice can only sigh and thinks that she exited in a cool way.

Dione arrived at the library.

"Hi, I'm here to return the books I had borrowed last week." Dione greeted. The librarian smiled.

"Why if it isn't Dione Cloutier. Let me guess, here to borrow again?" the librarian playfully asked. Dione smiled in response. "Go look around, enjoy your time here." Dione thanked the librarian and walked to find a good spot for reading and studying. When she found a spot, she then walked around and went back where she found the books she needed. She started taking notes, read and understand the lesson when she was interrupted by someone.

"Excuse me." A low, deep voice caught her attention. She looked up and saw a handsome young man. Around 6'1, pale, masculine, brown eyes and jet-black hair. She was mesmerized by his handsomeness. She went back to reality when he asked again.

"Is this seat taken?" He asked. She blinked and shook her head slowly. "Can I seat here?" He further asked. She nodded, still looking at him. The young man sat in front of her and took out his note and books. She lowers her head and concentrates on her work. Their area was filled with silence.

'Just because he's handsome doesn't mean I can't concentrate.' She thought to herself. She took a glance in front of her just to be caught because he was already staring at her. She blinked thrice and looked back at her notes. She could hear his chuckles.

"I'm Elijah." He introduced himself. She looked at him and saw that he was offering his hand. She accepted and they shook hands.

"I'm Dione."

"Ah, I heard rumors about you." He spoke. She just made an I-don't-know gesture and looked at her phone. Alice is calling her.

"Hello?" She answered the phone.

"We're on our way to fetch you." She reports.

"Okay." She then hangs up. "My friend is on her way to fetch me." She told him.

"Oh, may I at least know your course?" He asked.

"Interior Design. Yours?"

"Architecture." He answered back. She smiled and nodded. When she turned her head, she immediately spotted Alice. She bids Elijah goodbye.

"I have to go. See you around the campus." She then waves. Elijah waved back and said.

"Yeah, I'm sure we'll see each other again." She just smiled and turned to walk. Alice aggressively waves at her.

"Let's go?" She asked. Alice nodded and linked arms with her.

"Yo, Dione." Alice's boyfriend greeted her.

"Hello, Paul." She greeted back and talked to Alice.

"Can I ask you about something?" Dione shyly said. Alice was taken aback and glanced at Paul. Paul understood and walked ahead of them.

"What is it?" Alice seriously asked.

"Well, I met someone at the library and I was surprised by his appearance. He looked like a prince in a cartoon movie." She described. Alice's eyes were about to pop.

"Oh my god, oh my god! Are you finally attracted to someone?!" She exclaimed. Dione calmed her down and explained further.

"I don't know, I was mesmerized by his appearance that it made my heart flutter, like I'm hyperventilating. I don't know how to deal with it. Help mee" She begged. Alice only laughed at her friend's cuteness.

"Hahaha! You're so cute! Let me tell you, what you're feeling is a normal reaction when you are attracted to someone, I think you have a crush on him." Alice teased. Dione was flustered.

"What am I going to do? I've never felt this before." She nervously asked. Alice just patted her head.

"Don't worry about it, it's only a crush, it will fade away anyway." Alice assured her. She just nodded and sighed in relief.

Dione arrived at her house to be greeted by her parents.

"Hello, my dear, how's your day?" Her mom asked. Dione kissed her parent's cheeks before answering.

"It's alright mom, I'll wash up first and go back here for dinner." She told them and went upstairs to do her night routine. While she was wiping her hair off, she suddenly remembered what had happened earlier. She blushed and screamed internally.

"Calm down, Dione." She said to herself. "I should talk this with mom." She added. She put herself in her pajamas and went downstairs to find her mom. She spotted her mom cooking their dinner.

"Mom? Can I ask you something?"

DIONE'S POV

"Sure, what is it, sweetie?" Mom asked with a sweet voice. I mustered all my courage.

"I want to ask because earlier, I met someone at the library, and He made my heart flutter and I was mesmerized by his face." I bravely said. I could feel my cheeks burning. Mom looked quite surprised. She blinked twice and smiled widely.

"Ah, finally, my sweet baby finally had her first crush!" mom excitedly revealed. I tilted my head.

"Mom" I shyly scold her. Mom laughed and hugged me.

"It's alright sweetie, it's only a crush, it's normal. Don't be too nervous about it. I'm just happy that you had finally someone you like. Don't deny it and just go with the flow. Having a crush can only mean that you have finally took an interest in opposite gender. Having a crush is not so bad. You can just like him for inspiration." Mom explained to me.

"But mom, I don't really want to have a crush." I pouted. Mom only laughed and just told me more about this feeling. The maid took charge of my mom's cooking and we went to dad in the living room.

"Dear, our baby's grown up now." Mom dramatically said. My eyes went wide, and dad stared at me.

"What do you mean?" Dad asked mom while still staring at me. Mom sits beside dad, and I remained standing.

"Our Dione finally has a crush." Mom giggled while slapping dad's arm. Dad's stare turned into a teasing look.

"Oho, finally, you are officially an adult now." Dad teased. I wish the floor can eat me.

"Don't tease me!" I yanked and pouted. My parents only laughed at my reaction and continued to tease me. I shouldn't have asked mom!
