Chapter 2: Meeting a Familiar Figure

"Isekai!"

"Isekai!"

"Isekai!"

"Isekai!"

"Isekai!"

The same words repeated in my mind as I remember how those people who I saw before dying, currently being sorted out by different gods or goddesses.

One figure who had pushed me was sent into another world, the same was repeated to the four people who died with me as each of them was sorted out before disappearing from the place.

All of it was surreal as even though I was like, standing right beside them, all being sent to other worlds, it seems those people had ignored me, before talking about themselves, not knowing that someone was watching them.

It was...weird.

I didn't know why I was standing there, nor able to understand why these gods or goddesses had ignored my presence. Yet, I can only lament to the sense of being dead still lingering through my soul, unable to vent the unfortunate events before dying.

My life might not have been great or even special but I still am alive in that world.

I wake up, eat, experience life, and go back to sleep yet the sudden change of life from living to being dead was too much for someone who used to adapt to situations I can't comprehend. Especially having regrets lingering in my mind.

Did I fulfill my own dreams? Can I even repay the people I care about now that I'm dead? Or, did I live as my mother had expected of me? All those answers were thrown out once I was dead and unable to continue to move on with life.

'I can get used to being ignored but what do I do now?' I stood there in silence as gods and goddesses began to leave one by one, each of them had been ignoring me till I was now alone by myself.

I didn't try to question why those people didn't notice me nor try to think about my own life.

I was just thinking about the direction I should pursue now, knowing that I was dead and clueless to the goal I should have.

"How about being my Avatar?"

Suddenly, I could hear a voice behind me as I turned around and was greeted by a familiar figure who once resembled a certain character I saw in the past?

"Steve?"

There was no mistake in the person I saw as I was confronting a figure who doesn't seem to be a human but a blocky figure who stood taller than me. Everything about him had a block-like surface look that only looks humanoid yet it was a surreal experience, seeing a real-life figure of a video game character.

However, my mind quickly snaps again as I realize that this person was different from the default character from the game.

Only after gazing at his eyes did I realize that this figure in front of me wasn't the same Steve I know but someone who was once famous in the Minecraft community?

"Herobrine?"

"Hmn...you seem to know of me...considering the lack of knowledge you have to where I came from." He responded without moving his mouth, as if he was just speaking through some connection with me. Even when moving slowly towards me, he didn't even make a move yet only floated closer to me.

As for the question of my lack of knowledge in Minecraft, I only played a few hours in the game while pirating it in the past but apart from just playing on the Vanilla version, I only watch some videos on mods and challenges but never got past knowing more before dying.

My experience with the game...it was only to a point where I was knowledgeable on certain things and even the end goal of the game. Apart from that, it was a blank state for me.

"I just know...because there are stories about you...." I stutter my words, not understanding why this figure had appeared before me. Unable to try and think more about my situation since my introverted nature began to act up against me.

I wasn't the social type, even though the place I grew up was a hub of communication with people. Especially considering that socializing was a norm in my place.

Yet, it was still an improvement considering that I was cautious of someone who was known as being a villain in the community.

"Um...what does it mean being your Avatar?"

"It's simple really. I will grant you abilities as my Avatar and you only need to protect the world where I'll reincarnate you. You will be given a second life and I'll gain myself a warrior to fight for me."

As he said that, I suddenly felt Vitality from my body, after dying and turning into a spirit, I suddenly regained a physical form once again. No longer feeling dead as if I am now living again. Turning to Herobrine, who just stares at me before continuing his words.

"When I was made by my creator, I was lost in a world where the land felt empty, like I was imprisoned in a cage, not knowing that it was alive.

The monsters, animals and even the people felt....soulless. Not realizing that all of them were just made by my creator, an incomplete version of living beings not gaining any thoughts or emotions.

But then, a lone figure suddenly appeared, a being who punched woods and made tools that he crafted into weapons and armor. Even parts to make homes or items he needed. Traveling from one dimension to another.

Until finally, he ends up in the 'End' dimension, slaying the dragon and completing his mission."

Herobrine narrated his life as I listened with curiosity, while I'm nervous when talking with people, I slowly got myself immersed in the story he told from how it relates to the game itself.

Minecraft was made to create an open world where the players explore the land and become a divine explorer who carve their names in the land of Minecraft, exploring different biomes and eventually to the nether, gaining items and facing off the Ender Dragon in the End.

"My Avatar. I shall grant you the ability to travel to the 'Overworld' and build a base where you can gain access to materials and tools needed to survive in the world you'll be sent from. Not only that but also be able to upgrade yourself and the land using the 'Experience points' from gaining in activities such as mining, crafting and even slaying entities roaming the land of the Overworld.

While the downside might surprise you when you reincarnate, you'll probably find the benefits much more rewarding as you'll find out in the near future."

"For now though, this will be the final moment that we will meet. Next time would be the moment you'll take on the next challenge, my Avatar."

Before I could ask any questions, he slowly began to fade out of existence as my vision fades and slowly, I fall unconscious.

Then, I began to experience a surreal moment of viewing my birth and seeing my new parents. Yet, my only memories of them were their happiness of my birth and the name I was given in my second life.

"Hiroki. My lovely child."
