Mineral Wars

The rain and sweat trickling down my face, the brief silence I knew would be replaced by the sharp cry of a gunshot, the barrel of his gun staring intently at me, beckoning to me and drawing me in. This bullet would decide the fate of humanity and my rifle was filled to bursting with my emotions of rage, sadness, fear and everything in between.

Bang.

5 years earlier,

The laws of the world have changed. The justice of the old world has been replaced and is no longer valid. What used to be positions of leadership and power have given way to the sheer destructive ability and control of a single man. His rise to tyranny is a mystery to most but everyone can collectively agree that it was partly thanks to that catastrophe we faced on the day of October 5th, 2006. We humans refer to it as the first punishment of God. Nobody saw it coming, an ordinary autumn day, the leaves crumpling and crunching at my feet and the children playing together in the playground, blissfully unaware that their short lives were about to end, without meaning, without reason. I was approximately 100 metres away from the blast site. A cry of astonishment and surprise made me whip my head around to find the source of this person's distress. An almost primal instinct took hold of me, almost forcing me to look up to the sky and the thing I saw that day will never leave my memory. Something I could never even fathom before this moment and yet it was right there, staring down at me. The barrel of a gun, a gun immeasurable in size and intimidation, comparable to its very own planet in its sheer width and length. Like a predator, patiently waiting for something to ensnare in its fangs. The bullet reared its silver head and my eyes widened, jaw gaping wide in shock and terror. Almost the same moment as I saw the bullet, it had fired with a resounding gunshot, shattering windows across the entire planet with its shockwave. A blinding white light encapsulated my vision and I felt my consciousness fade...

This was the calamity which changed the course of history, shifting the balance of power and allowing the new world order to take the world into its hands. The leader of that new world order veiled by secrets and shadows, begging to be discovered. This is the story of my life leading up to that climactic moment and the beginning of the ultimate battle.
